After suffering defeat at the hands of West Chester Henderson the Chester Clippers were left disappointed and had a bitter taste in their mouths. On Friday night at Dr. Wally Field the Clippers responded by dominating the host Sun Valley Vanguards to the tune of 28-0 in a game that saw 23 penalties and lasted shade under three hours . Just how dominating were the Clippers consider this the Clippers out rushed the Vanguards 411 to 81 yards on their way to out gaining the Vanguards 521 to 129. In addition to the great offensive of effort  the Clippers got the a great showing from its defense With the victory the Clippers gave first year head coach Chuck Crews his first win. Afterwards soaked from a Gatorade bath a choked up Crews said “It’s everything I thought it would be.” Crews later added “we started and we finished . We played hard.”

The Clippers were led offensively by a three headed rushing monster of quarterback Da’Ryn Harris 107 yards on 16 carries, Darrel Nicholson 139 yards on 12 rushes and Anthony Davis 135 yards on five carries. The rushing attacked was aided up front by linemen Shaun Willis, Evon Hyles, Rob Tiller,Chris Graham and Shaquille Bradshaw.

After 26 yard scamper by Davis, Nicholson would put the Clippers on the broad with his 35 yard run. Harris would run it for the two point conversion giving the Clippers the 8-0 lead with four seconds left in the first quarter.

Nicholson would add to Clippers lead when he would plunge in from five yards out. Nicholson touchdown run was preceded by a 22 yard run by Davis. Harris bootlegged his way in for the two point conversion giving the Clippers the 16-0 lead.

As hard as they tried the Vanguards could not find the end zone for the second consecutive week to begin the season. The Vanguards efforts were hamper by the 11 penalties that cost them 90 yards. Despite the fact they have yet to find put up any points this season Vanguard head coach Mark Possenti found bright spots. “We’re much better team than we are at this time last year.” He added that ”It’s the little things, we’re shooting ourselves in the foot here and there, but I got kids busting their butts out here. It will come together they didn’t build Rome in a week.” Quarterback Bill Hudson was constantly on the scramble from the Clipper rush that was led by Hyles  12 tackles and David Richardson 11 tackles.

In the second half the Clippers extended their lead when Harris connected with Maurice Nelson for 14 yard touchdown. It appeared that the only thing that would stop the Clippers would be their own mistakes mainly the 12 penalties they committed including two that wiped out two would be touchdowns run by Davis. Finally Davis would get his touchdown when he picked up a bad snap on a punt and raced 95 yards for the touchdown. On the play there were two penalty flags that wiped each other out. “I thought it was coming back. I was heartbroken.” Said Davis of the flags on his touchdown run.
