Pottsgrove’s versatile senior athlete Terrell Chestnut has reached double figures when it comes to Division-1 scholarship offers.

Chestnut, a two-way player for the Falcons, might be the most sought after multi-purpose athlete in District 1 in this 2011 recruiting class. His dozen D-1 offers at present feature a combination of schools from four of the six major BCS conferences.

Chestnut has received offers from Boston College, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, South Carolina, Syracuse, Temple, Virginia and West Virginia, according to his profile on Rivals.com. Schools including Duke, Northwestern, and Purdue are showing interest, but have not yet extended offers.

The 5’11, 173-pound athlete directed Pottsgrove’s offense at quarterback last year, running for 995 yards and 18 touchdowns while completing 44-of-60 passes for 503 yards and five additional scores.

From his spot in the defensive backfield, Chestnut added 91 tackles, four interceptions, and two fumble recoveries.

Chestnut really grabbed statewide attention when, as a freshman, he intercepted nine passes and earned “AAA” All-state honors that season. He’s intercepted 15 passes for his career.

In the last two seasons, Chestnut has run for 2,221 yards and 38 touchdowns while adding 1,438 yards and 13 touchdowns as a passer.

Pottsgrove is coming off of one of its best seasons in school history. The Falcons claimed their first District 1 “AAA” football championship and finished 14-1, bowing to Archbishop Wood in the PIAA “AAA” quarterfinals.

The Falcons figure to be one of the best “AAA” teams in the state next season. In addition to Chestnut, Pottsgrove returns two-way athletes Maika Polamalu and Kayvon Greene, both of whom are generating Division-1 interest.
