Easton Gets it’s Revenge on Parkland

In front of a packed house at Easton’s Cottingham Stadium on Friday night, the Red Rovers scored a decisive 24-0 victory that could by year’s end have a huge impact on the Lehigh Valley Conference title race, and district 11 standings.  “Our scout team did a tremendous job all week during practice, getting us ready for this parkland offense,” Exclaimed Easton head coach Steve Shiffert.

The first quarter yielded very little results for both teams except for an Easton 26 yard field goal nailed by kicker Matt Semanick.  Unfortunately for the Trojans the second quarter became a nightmare for them.  A critical play in the game was a fake punt by Easton after they had gone three and out, Nolan Kilpatrick scampered 32 yards for a first down, keeping the series alive.  Later on the drive Kilpatrick would cap it by catching a nine yard touchdown pass from Brad Wilkins.  After the kickoff Devante Cross would throw an interception to Shane Simpson returned 34 yards for a touchdown, and the Red Rovers would go into the locker room up 17-0 at the half.

The Trojans had their chance throughout the game as the Rovers fumbled 4 times but recovered all four including one for a touchdown by Cameron Casciole in the fourth quarter making it 24-0 Easton.  The Haddad’s were making plays all over the field for the Parkland defense but it just wasn’t enough as the Easton defense was too much for them. “Doug Powell did an excellent job,” said Shiffert of his defensive coordinator after they had pitched the shutout.  Maybe like last year these two teams will meet up again but tonight it was Easton that took Parkland to the woodshed.
