District 3 Talk Week 3

Central Dauphin

It was the big plays by Central Dauphin’s defense in the end that helped Central Dauphin win. Linebacker Jarret Brooks stopped the two-point conversion by State College’s Alex Kenney. With one more crack by State College, Safety Paul Coleman out jumped the intended receiver as time expired and the Rams held on to a 24-22 win.

Running back Colton Charles rushed for 162 yards.

Central Dauphin (3-0) hosts Bishop McDevitt (3-0)

Manheim Central

Justin Gorman threw for 276 yards and two touchdowns to lead Manheim Central over Lancaster Catholic 42-12.

Running back Joe Gruber rushed for 137 yards and three touchdowns.

The Barons set the tone in the first half, scoring three touchdowns in the second quarter, 223 yards of total offense to Lancaster Catholic 35 yards and 12 to 2 in first downs.

Manheim Central (3-0) hosts Cocalico next week.

Upper Dauphin

Upper Dauphin piled up 453 yards of offense to defeat Reading Central Catholic 34-6.

Ty Grosser rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Tyler Koppenhaver threw for 241 yards and two scores. Ty Raubenstine caught 5 passes for 138 yards.

Upper Dauphin (3-0) plays Juniata at home.

Wilson West Lawn

Shane Witmyer’s fake punt led to a completed pass to Pat O’Brien that kept the drive alive. Five plays later Witmyer caught the game winning touchdown pass as Wilson West Lawn defeated Downingtown East 40-35 at John Gurski Stadium.

Zach Zweizig completed 12 of 22 passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns.

New Oxford

A battle of 2-0 teams, New Oxford used a triple option offense that led to a 41-18 win over York County Tech.

Quarterback Mike Bivens rushed for a game high 185 yards on 11 carries and three touchdowns. He completed 3 of 3 passes for 30 yards and a touchdown. His team rushed for 411 yards.

New Oxford (3-0) travels to Dallastown.
