RUNNINGBACKS:
Kyler Quick of Mahanoy Area rushed for 320 yards and scored 3 td’s in their 43-42 shootout win over Shenandoah Valley. Quick’s 320 yards is the 3rd highest at Mahanoy behind Mike Gaval’s 329 yards vs NorthWest of Shickshinny PA and Lenny Dulsky’s 329 yards vs Minersville in 2015. Luke Miller of North Schuylkill had his 4th game of 275 yards rushing or more this season when he rushed for 275 yards and 4 td’s in their win over Pottsville. Miller upped his season and District leading rushing total to 2,284 yards. Miller also broke his own single season touchdown record of 25 that he set last year with his 28 he has so far this season. He also broke the career td record at North Schuylkill when he raised his career total to 53. Joey Flail held the old record when he scored 52 td’s from 2020-23. Colton Reber of Schuylkill Haven rushed for 307 yards and scored 4 more times in their win over Tri-Valley. Reber raised his rushing total to 1,961 yards and his District leading td total to 34. Sean Steckert of Southern Lehigh joins the “4,000” yard club with his 4,054 career rushing yards. QB Cole Ordway of Easton rushed for 231 yards and scored 7 td’s in their win over Nazareth. The 7 td’s ties the school record that Shane Simpson set vs Whitehall in 2014. Yes, that Whitehall game when Simpson ran for 277 yards and 6 td’s, caught 3 passes for 44 yards and a td and also had 1 INT in their 63-49 win. In that game Whitehall’s Saquon Barkley rushed for 113 yards and 2 td’s, caught 4 passes for 30 yards and a td, and also ran a kick-off back 86 yards for another td. Ordway leads the EPC 18 with 1,468 yards rushing and 29 td’s scored. Teammate Chris Martinez went over 1,000 yards rushing on the season and currently has 1,061 yards. Rory Dixon of Marian Catholic went over 1,000 yards (1,136) for the 3rd year in a row. Dante Carr of Minersville reached the 50 td mark and has scored 52 td’s in his career. Jeziah Gregory of Whitehall also went over 1,000 yards for the season (1,049 yards) and also hit the 30 td mark and now has 31 career td’s. Lukas Croizier of Lehighton rushed for 209 yards and 3 td’s in their win over Jim Thorpe and went over 1,000 yards for the season (1,115). Gianni Gonnella of ES South also had a 200 yard rushing game last week which put him over 1,000 yards for the season (1,007). QB Branden Rohn joins the chart with his 1,018 career rushing yards. Amari Green of PM East rushed for 249 yards and 2 td’s in their win over PM West. Brody Breiner of Panther Valley rushed for 205 yards and 2 td’s in their loss to Minersville.
QUARTERBACKS:
Antonio Fontanez of Liberty threw for a school record 382 yards in their win over Freedom. Doug Erney held the old record when he threw for 358 yards vs Northampton in 2014. Fontanez has thrown for 2,338 yards (adjusted total) and 32 td passes this season. He also went over 6,000 yards passing for his career (6,255 yards) and has thrown 64 career td’s. His career yardage has him slotted in 16th place all-time in the District. His career td passes has him in 21st place all-time. Colton Sams of Southern Lehigh threw for 217 yards and 4 td’s in their loss to Northwestern and in the process broke the school record for career passing yards. Sams has thrown for 5,398 career yards (just outside the top 30 all-time), moving him ahead of Travis Edmond who threw for 5,281 yards from 2012-14. Matt Bodnar of Notre Dame threw for 311 yards and 5 td’s in their win over Wilson. Bodnar now leads the District in both passing yardage (2,397), and td passes (33). He’s thrown for 6,849 career passing yards which is the 10th highest all-time in the District. He’s thrown 75 career td’s which is places him in a tie with Cole Hildabrant of Pius X (2003-06) for 8th best all-time in the District. Shane Leh of Northwestern threw for 226 yards and a td to go over 5,000 yards passing for his career (5,095). His 66 career td passes is 17th best all-time and his passing yardage has him just outside the top 40 (43rd). Jack Trickel of Palisades broke the school record for career passing yardage in their win over Salisbury. Trickel has 3,756 career passing yards, bettering Kevin Burke’s old record of 3,661 yards that he threw from 1973-75. Ethan Bench of Shenandoah Valley threw for 400 yards and 5 td’s in that wild loss to Mahanoy Area. His 400 yards is a new school record surpassing the 352 Chris Palubinsky threw against Williams Valley in 2012. Bench’s 5 td’s falls one short of the school record 6 that Brian Racis threw vs CMVT in 1995 and Ben Dempster threw vs Hancock, Maryland in 2022. Bench went over 1,000 yards for the season (1,252). Mason Soos of Pen Argyl had his 2nd consecutive 200 yard passing game when he threw for 205 yards and a td in their win over Bangor. Brady Shomper of Williams Valley had his first 200 yard (284 yards), 4 td game of the season in a win over Pine Grove. He’s thrown 21 td passes this season and 65 for his career (20th place all-time). Cole Lazorick of Jim Thorpe had his 4th 200 yard game when he threw for 240 yards and 3 td’s in their loss to Lehighton. Cooper Madson of Nazareth (231 yards), and Gavin Taff of Northampton (215 yards) are the 9th and 10th QB to throw for 200 yards in week 10. Madson went over 1,000 yards for the season, joining a short list of District 11 teams that had 2 QB’s throw for 1,000 yards in the same season which I’ll have to find in my notes when I get time. Madson and injured teammate Peyton Falzone are both over 1,100 yards for the season. Madson joined the chart and I also added Axel Burkart of Bethlehem Catholic to the chart. So we have Carr with 75 career td passes followed by Bodnar with 74 and then the next 4 go sequentially 67 (Sams), 66 (Leh), 65 Shomper), and 64 (Fontanez). All 6 are in the playoffs.
RECEIVERS:
Jake Puksyzn of Liberty caught 10 passes for 184 yards and a td vs Freedom to up his season totals to 44 catches for 810 yards and his school record 14th td catch. He also went over 2,000 yards for his career (2,056). Teammate Zyaire Davis is right behind with 37 catches for 819 yard and 12 td grabs. A third Liberty teammate has joined the chart. Jaxon Barlok has 609 career receiving yards. Freshman Thomas Cahill of Saucon Valley now owns the District freshman records for most receptions (67) and reception yardage (924). Todd Seiger of Shenandoah Valley who had 2 catches on the season entering the Mahanoy game caught 5 passes for a new school record 216 yards and 3 td’s. Joey Vevasis held the old record when he had 212 yards on his school record 15 catches vs Panther Valley in 2021. Lincoln Cook of Palisades is 2nd in the District with his 65 catches and 1st in the District with his receiving yardage (1,054 yards). That also ties the school yardage record that All Stater Jim Kacergis totaled in 1975. Four other players joined the chart this week. They are 2 juniors from Northern Lehigh and 2 seniors from Pen Argyl. NL’s Colin Karetsky (522 yards), and Ryan Zambo (508 yards) and PA’s Caiden Faust (520 yards), and Zachary Metzger (517 yards). Karetsky had a career high 10 catches in their win over Saucon Valley. Justin Williams of Pocono Mountain East broke school records for single season catches and yardage and career td catches. Williams currently has 54 catches for 866 yards and 11 td catches. RJ Sarajian (49 catches in 2013), and Triston Hilliman (49 catches in 2018) held the old record catch record. Lamont Tillary held the old yardage record when he caught 48 passes for 735 yards in 2010. Williams’ 11 td grabs ties the school record that Bill Bramley set in 1974 as a junior and his 16 career td grabs also broke Bramley’s career td reception record of 15 that he had from 1973-75. Paiten Lapoint of Minersville went over 2,000 yards receiving in his career (2,002) and tied the school record for career receptions with his 116 catches. Jared Graeff also caught 116 passes from 2018-21. Blake Roberts of Lehighton broke the career reception record in week 10. Roberts has 117 grabs moving ahead of Zack Hunsicker’s 114 catches he had from 2017-20.

TIDBITS: NOTHING NEW FOR WEEK 10
I was able to bring together all my records of the 300 yard rushers in District 11 over the years and I found that it’s been done 115 times. Here’s some info on them with more to come as time permits.
1st recorded 300 yard rushers (1st 6):
Gil Strunk of Pen Argyl vs Bangor in 1934 (302 yards on 53 carries and 5 td’s scored) won 33-13
Maurice Schleicher of Slatington (NL) vs Lehighton in 1954 (300 yards on only 9 carries and 5 td’s scored) won 56-13
John Rosella of North Schuylkill vs Bloomsburg in 1968 (306 yards on 23 carries and 4 td’s scored) won 38-12
Tim Posivak of Liberty vs Allen in 1976 (309 yards on 32 carries and 4 td’s scored) won 41-14
Bob Agosti of Marian Catholic vs Pottsville in 1986 (306 yards on 27 carries and 2 td’s scored) won 37-14
Jim Hope of Tamaqua vs Shenandoah Valley in 1989 (331 yards on 30 carries and 3 td’s scored) won 28-21
There were no 300 yard rushers in 1990. So, that means (109 of the 115) 300 yard rushers have been since the 1991 season.
