Catholic teachers strike could jeopardize football games

PHILADELPHIA – Students return to school Wednesday morning as their teachers stayed out to picket. The two sides couldn’t come to an agreement on a contract Tuesday and officially went on strike for the first time since 2003.

In 2003 teams didn’t play when they were on strike. So with the strike under way will teams be allowed to practice and play their games this weekend?

According to head coach Brian Fluck of West Catholic, “The Archdiocese of Philadelphia said that each school will be given the option of whether its team plays any games.”

“Every school is practicing and is set to play this weekend except for maybe Cardinal O’Hara,” said Fluck.  “They are going to determine later in the day if they are going to practice and play this weekend.”
