Things are bad for the Chichester High School football team. Just how bad are things for the Eagles? They haven’t won a game since the 2008 season when they went 1-11. Entering last Friday’s Del-Val League opener at Academy Park the Eagles were being outscored 225-14. To make matters worst the Eagles had all their games go to the Mercy Rule and last Friday was no different has the Eagles dropped a 36-0 decision to the Knights. Despite the latest set back the Eagles are not aggravated. “I’m not frustrated at all we got some great things out of our kids tonight, we had some kids playing with a lot of enthusiasm. Chichester head coach Ryan Smith said.

The Eagles showed some fight early on forcing the Knights turn the ball over on downs on their opening possession. The Eagles were unable to take advantage having to punt the ball themselves. On the first play following the punt the Knights and it was Demetre Carter did damage racing 30 yards for the touchdown to give the Knights the 7-0 lead at end of first quarter.

The Knights would explode in the second quarter scoring 21 points in the quarter. The first touchdown of the quarter came when Carl Coleman connected with Brentt Golson for a 41 yard strike. Carter would race 35 yards for the second score and the defense would add one as Joseph Richard intercepted John Gillespie and returned it 35 yards to give the Knights the 28-0 halftime lead.

Coleman would add to Knights lead in the third quarter with his five-yard plunge. On the ensuing kickoff the ball would bounce off an Eagle before they fell on it in the end-zone for a safety giving the Knights the 36-0 victory.

Up next for the Eagles are the Interboro Bucs at home kickoff is schedule for 7 pm. While the Knights will host the Chester Clippers.
