2011 season

Quarterback Hank Coyne completed 125 of 214 passes for 1,904 yards and 17 touchdowns. Jarred Jones led the Rams with 1,455 yards and 16 touchdowns. Andrew Scanlan led all receivers with 52 catches for 836 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Rams finished the 2011 season with an 11-2 record and were league champs of the Pioneer Athletic Conference.

Q & A with Spring-Ford head football coach Chad Brubaker

We sat down with Brubaker and talked to him about his team for the 2012 season.

How is your off-season going this summer?

The off-season is going well. We are making strides each year. The kids are working hard.

Who do you have coming back on offense?

The two offensive lineman we have back are RT Justin Meals and LT Mike Glimore. It’s wide open for the other three positions on the line.

Hank Coyne is back at quarterback. He is a three-year starter. He has set many school records. He is our leader.

We are returning our two tailbacks from last year, Jarred Jones and Yousef Lundi. Jarred took over for Lundi last season. Lundi will play fullback this season.

We are going to be young and inexperienced at wide receiver. We are looking at Gary Hopkins to have a big year for us. Ben Schein played some last year. Tate Carter will see some action at receiver. But he will play some running back and quarterback in the wildcat.

Our tight end is back, RJ Sheldon.

Who do you have coming back on defense?

We have a three-player rotation at the defensive end position. RJ Shledon, Zameer McDowell and Mason Romano will play at defensive end.

We have all of our linebackers returning this year. We are going to move them around a little bit. Travis Daywalt is moving to strong safety. Ian Hare was our middle linebacker he is moving to strong linebacker position. Andy Lover-Smith is back at weak linebacker.

Jared Shoemaker has looked good in the off-season. He is our corner back. The other two positions, corner and free safety are open.

 

What about special teams?

Our punter is RJ Sheldon. The kicking position is open for camp.

To have a successful season you have to?

Last year our goal was to win our league and make playoffs and we did that. We have those same goals but we want to make a splash in the playoffs.

   Spring-Ford again should be very tough in the Pac 10. With over 80 players on roster and a dedicated coaching staff I have them favorite to win their league. Pottsgrove and Methacton should be a tough challenge.
