Most teams never get a chance to play in a state championship game. Middletown finished the 2018 season playing in their third straight state championship game. The Blue Raiders record during this three year run is 41-4.

It starts with Head Football Coach Brett Myers. He changed the culture at Middletown and built a winner. The past six years under Myers his record is 58-18.

Q. What stood out about your team this season? 

This year’s team’s desire to find a way to win on Friday nights was very impressive.  They had to overcome adversity nearly every week and they just found a way to continue to move forward.   

Q. What makes your staff great and how have they helped you throughout the season.

Our Staff at Middletown is made up of great men who coach for the right reason.  They focus on improving each player individually in not only football fundamentals but also as students and as individuals in our community.  All of our coaches approach their roles with the idea of wanting to be the best at what they do.  It doesn’t matter how small a role, they all strive to be the best at it.  It doesn’t matter if it’s the get back coach or the coach in charge of technology, they are going to take pride in their jobs.

Q. How did your team impact your community this year?

Middletown is a special community that always supports its football team.  This group of players have done some great things to deserve this support.  They volunteer at community day in the spring and they host a luncheon to speak about what they believe are the core values of our program.  They work youth camps to teach the future Raiders the proper techniques of playing football safely.  They take time to speak to the little league teams at their practices.  They adopt a family to help out at Christmas which requires them to raise money, go shopping, wrap gifts and deliver them to the family.  This group going 13-2 and reaching the State finals for the third straight year is only a part of the reason our community comes out and gives support on Friday Nights.
