  1. @Truth, funny side of things. I’m betting, with your passion for football and tep, you have been to some of the clinics at gratz, 11th & cbm, or Chalmers as of late. I’d guess we probably shot the breeze a few times down there.

  2. Truth, I’m not gonna debate this one, it’s not an opinion. I’m not gonna throw kids names out there because, well because they’re kids. #’s 2, 27, and 33 all played at least 2 years at West. Not sure where #20 played freshman year, but he is on youtube practicing with judge. #3, D1 prospect transferred in. #15 is in the same boat as #3. #24 transferred in from o’hara, also going D1. #’s 7,9,12,28,52,58,68 were all jr’s or sr’s. Can’t find any info on any of them, aside from the fact that they were not on the 2011 roster, and some are D1 prospects. #56, sophomore 6’2″ 250lbs, also came out of nowhere. At that size he didn’t play pound ball, and with 11 other frosh on the 2011 roster, I can’t see how he wasn’t. Truth is, I’m actually happy to have a team in the pub that is gonna compete for a state title. Just don’t like how they built it. My problem with charters is another story, hate seeing my tax dollars flushed down the toilet. Don’t think it’s too relevant, but I know a lot of the kids at Imhotep from camps & clinics. I’m not hating, they’re good kids, just call it what it is. They recruit from other high schools, I don’t agree with it, however, it is what it is.

  3. Does anyone think PREP is a shoe in for a state title game against North Alleghany. Reading a couple comments that’s what it seems like

  4. 4A
    Prep
    North Allegany
    Lasalle
    Gateway
    Parkland

    3A
    Berwick
    Wood
    McDevitt
    Thomas Johnson
    Erie Prep

I think we are going to get a great coaching match up in the 3A Eastern Final George Curry vs Mike Carey. Very interested to see who comes out of PHILADELPHIA CATHOLIC LEAGUE in 4A. Prep has a really tough schedule could lose a few games but will be battle tested.

P.S. @O Coach @JiveTurkey9 you still can’t admit you made a mistake reading my posts? Your turning the conversation every which way down below. How about just say you made a mistake and stop throwing the tantrums because people brought it your attention that you were wrong. Lets move on and talk football.

  5. up here in d2
AAAA Scranton or Del Valley should make a playoff spot, but not strong enough to do anything at the satae level.
AAA Abington should be the class of the Lackawana Conference,But hearing that Berwick may be strong enough to make some noise at the state level.
AA very week, no body really standing out wouldnt be suprised if the d2 champ is 7-3
A Dunmore ready to make another state run
Lackawanna Conference very young teams this year
wyoming valley not hearing anything except for Berwick

  6. @JiveTurkey9

Hey Bro, I just provide facts; not innuendos, perceptions, speculations, assumptions, guesses – merely strict solid foundational FACTS!! I was at their summer practice last week and saw over a hundred kids out there. Half in black shirts, half in red shirts and their five QBs in florescent green shirts. That PROGRAM is top notch and with all those ‘ONE PLATOON’ players you will MOST likely see NEW kids on their VARSITY roster this year that you will assume/perceive/speculate to be transfers where they actually played lil league football in the 9th grade or JV football last year.
Ted Silary provides accurate documented rosters where you can convert your assumptions to facts. As I informed you of the facts before, IMHOTEP only had ONE STARTER on offense in 2012 who was not apart of the 2011 team and TWO STARTERS on defense who was not apart of the 2011 team with one transferring from a school who didn’t have football.
With all the other perceptual opinionated talk about lining pockets, welcome to the City of Phila.. Their school system (both public and charter)is 33 million dollars in the red. 33 million doesn’t just walk away by itself. BTW, Catholic schools are in the red also and can close at anytime.
So Jive, I love to debate with you because you do bring intellectual respected opinions and every man loves a great debate but these are the facts brother no nonsense.
8/31/13 cannot come quick enough.. How about we let the kids play, share a beer or two and tell lies about our high school careers; but at the same time, let them settle our debates on the field..

Here are the my TOP FIVE Dave:

  7. Truth, didn’t we go through this last year? We ran the whole gauntlet from football, education, graduation rates, and state test scores. Imhotep, as with most Philly charters, is more about lining somebody’s pockets than teaching children. That being said, I do respect their football team. As with Wood, I don’t agree with recruiting kids after they have played for another high school. You’re a Philly guy, and you know every roster from 2000 on up is on Silary. I’m pretty sure THE TRUTH about last years transfers was pretty apparent. I’m pretty sure, when I pointed out all of the new names in the starting line-up last year, you told me they were on JV in 2011. Now 17 of 22 were returners. Whatever, it is what it is. Whole lot of nonsense on here lately, can’t wait till August 31.

  8. @Columbiajack, at 1470 I think you should know the difference between we’re and were also. If you really want to talk grammar, I would like to introduce you to my friend comma. He looks like this , and is used to break up sentences. I’m guessing you didn’t use Harvard or Yale because you would have had to leave the site and google them to see how they are spelled. Like I said, I am no Einstein by a long stretch, and I’m sure most of my posts are filled with grammatical errors. However, I didn’t call you out about education. You called out OLCoach and I. Pretty sure you boasted about 1470 math & verbal, along with your Ivy League education. If that is in fact true, you wasted your time at school.

  9. @Buddy, you have just proven my point about original thought. You read what I wrote and basically said the same exact thing back to me, that I said to you. Let’s exchange emails and I’ll send you some stuff to post. Nobody will see it until you post it and then you can claim it as your own. Maybe I’ll change my name to jivebuddy and just give you half of the credit for my thoughts.

  10. Can’t we all get along. Lol

Lets talk some football. Give me your top 5 in each classification. Thanks!

  11. YOU’RE right jive lets attack grammar on a website!! Lets be realistic of somebody who would make something up on a website… Does Columbia really come to mind? I’d use Harvard or Yale if I were lying. However you lack of being able to admit you we’re wrong about anything and throw snipes at people. Lets pull up all of your posts and critique them grammatically!!!

  12. Love the intriguing comments concerning PIAA Football. Lets me know the season is upon us all. But once again Jive, you are throwing out opinions and not facts concerning Imhotep. Here are the facts:

-Only one starting player from the 2011 West Catholic team transferred and contributed to the 2012 Imhotep team. ONE!!!

-8 out of the 11 defensive starters of the 2012 Imhotep team were on the 2011 team and 6 of them will be on the 2013 team.

-9 out of the 11 starting offensive players from the 2012 team were on the 2011 team with one being a starting Freshmen (TE with a D1 offer already) and the other being the WC transfer. 7 of those 2012 players are returning in 2013 with 4 being on the offensive line.

-Imhotep has successfully accomplished 12 players receiving multiple scholarships offers so far. This is due to the kid’s hardwork and their coaching staff who doesn’t mind renting vans and driving players as far as UMASS to South Carolina to Tennessee to West Virginia etc for camps and workouts.

-Wyo was an excellent team with a excellent coaching staff that went undefeated to the PIAA Championship and to say Imhotep was not good because they lost to a great team is subconsciously saying every team Wyo played was not good.

LETS SETTLE THE PUB vs PRIVATE SCHOOL ADVANTAGE ARGUMENT:
-2012 1A Champion Clairton (pub school)
-2012 2A Champion Wyo (pub school)
-2012 3A Champion Cathedral Prep (private school)
-2012 4A Champion North Allegheny (pub school)

Line up and let the kids play… Good coaching makes a program successful even if they win or lose..

  13. Got a lot of growing up to do Jive.

The Philadelphia Catholic League is referred to, by virtually everyone on this site, as the PCL.

I believe that I read on this site that there is an age limit for posting. Must be at least 13. Therefore, you should rightfully dis-qualify yourself.

  14. Wait a second here. I am by no means a rocket scientist, nor claim to be. However when you come at people about schooling, and claim to be a Columbia grad, you should really be well educated. Jive Turkey and OLCoach, they not comprehend paragraphs? Awesome, go down and read it. They not comprehend paragraphs. Wouldn’t a Columbia grad, with a 1470 SAT, no the difference between your and you’re? Jack, is somebody on here a fibber?

  15. @glass slipper/ buddy’s wife. Good hustle, keep up the great work! You can read and re-type what you read. Couple things (CL) would be an abbreviation, not (colonial league) You see an abbreviation is a moniker which is shorter than writing out the actual words. Again, good hustle. I guess when 5 teams from 1 league are mentioned, I assume you would be speaking of that league. Considering that league is referred to as (CL) in my area. (CL) is an abbreviation for Catholic League too. Just for the record (LV) would be the abbreviation for Lehigh Valley. Thank you for making it a much easier read.

  16. BTW I went to a public school. It’s not the school it’s what you get out of the school. If someone’s parents are scared about a public education or location of the school, what does that say about the parents? I have the answer ill pay19,000 a year to not be a parent

  17. @jive turkey must have went to one of those schools along w @OL Coach because they not comprehend paragraphs. @OL Coach next time you want to compare SAT scores come at me 1470 Math and Verb played 4 years and graduated from Columbia. But don’t worry your on a website claiming how smart a school is you couldn’t get into. I actually played college football and was a grad asst. before leaving the football world, what have you done? Coach your sons 135lb team

  18. Here is the second “statement” with abbreviations in parentheses () for easier reading @ JiveTurkey..

“@JiveTurkey I am not hating on D12 I am speaking the truth tell me who is successful in D12 besides Prep, Lasalle, and Wood (and to a lesser extent O’Hara)? I’m not a hater I’m a realist. Do I think that D1, D11, D3, and D7 are better districts from top to bottom? Yes absolutely anybody who has ever played football can see that. However D12 with maybe the only exception being D7 is the best at the top. However I would still say that the CL (COLONIAL LEAGUE) is JV league football and everybody who is not invested in the CL (COLONIAL LEAGUE) from the Lv (LEHIGH VALLEY) will tell you that. West Catholic would have absolutely destroyed the CL (COLONIAL LEAGUE) last year and a big part of why is because who WV (he meant.. WC, WEST CATHOLIC) plays and who the the CL (COLONIAL LEAGUE) teams play. I’m not hating I’m just being honest. D12 good teams will always be state title contenders regardless that the district stinks. I love watching wood it reminds me of CBW and ACC in the 1990′s. But don’t think for a second that you could import all of D12 into any district and still think that they could own the other districts.

@Jive Turkey.. It will help bro..

  19. @ Jive Turkey… Here are Mike’s comments:

I will add in parentheses () what he is referring to and then you can re-read the statement..

“To dominate the colonial league (CL) and really be in the state title picture catty would have mercy rule every team in the colonial league (CL). The CL (Colonial League) is awful football, catty beat PA (Pen Argyl) yes abd look what Imhotep did to PA (Pen Argyl) and look what wyomissing did to Imhotep, that’s how far away a CL (Colonial League) team is from competing on the state stage. The CL (Colonial League) teams are more than happy staying in there bubble and beating up on Salisbury, Palmerton and so forth… Why wouldn’t catty or PA (Pen Argyl) try to play (I know they can’t cause of the league) play a good 3A team or at least scrimmage them? West Catholic has played Wood and Lasalle over the years that’s a 3A and 4A state title contender. West didn’t become simply by “recruiting” they played up. The CL (Colonial League) teams will never challenge themselves to do that. I’ve been a D11 fan all my life, and the state of D11 football makes me want to throw up. It has gotten progressively worse since the 90′s with the exception of 08 Liberty and 10 ACC

That is his first “statement”.. really don’t think it is that controversial homie.

  20. @Buddy, yet again, read the whole thread. I’m not going back and forth with you this year. Like last year, you have no original thoughts to bring to any conversation. You read other peoples conversations and jump in with nuh uh, yeah right, or the famous buddy duhh, when you perceive it to be a negative on D1. Let the adults talk and sit back and enjoy the threads, kid.

  21. The fact that actual coach (if his OL Coach name alludes to him being a real coach) would come on a message board is crazy to me. I would be curious to know if his head coach knows he is on a message board pounding his chest. I post my real name, OL Coach what’s yours??

  22. O L Coach,

I have yet to make any sense of a single post you’ve written. I don’t really care so much about athletics to the point of getting into an argument. Isn’t the point of a Catholic/Prep school to give you a very good learning environment. What percentage of D-12 students go to college as opposed to D-11 students (catholic/private/public school wise)? Schools like LaSalle/SJP/Judge/etc are fine academic institutions. It still doesn’t they don’t have an athletic advantage as to what players they can get….

If you were so well versed in D-11 sports. A ton of William Allen basketball players back in the 70’s and 80’s had kids that played for Parkland basketball that both father and son won district titles. When good athletes/etc out of Philly Pub schools left the city and made something of themselves they had children and were able to afford Catholic schooling. So it’s understandable why they win and you can’t blame the parents. But it’s like if 60 kids are outside playing sports the Catholic league gets the first 25 picks and leaves the rest for everyone else.

  23. Here is what happened a few PCL people read a post didn’t understand it thought was something bad about the PCL (actually was saying how good the PCL is) but didn’t understand jump all over them about it. Realize they are wrong but don’t admit than start trying to compare public school SAT scores w schools that cost $19,000 a year for HS!!! And people are curious why the PCL is so hated hmmmmm

  24. OL Coach-

    So to be clear….

In D7 AAAA(Pittburgh area): you have 1 Catholic School/25 Public Schools. Pittsburgh Central Catholic. Erie Cathedral Prep is AAA.. Didn’t run those numbers in AAA in PBurg. I will if u want me to…

D11: in AAAA, 0/16 Schools are Catholic/Charter or Private. D11 AAA: 2/9 are Catholic (Bethlehem Catholic and Allentown CC)… combined 2/25 in the Lehigh Valley area….

    D1: 0/44 are Catholic/Private/Charter in AAAA
2/21 are Catholic/Private/Charter in AAA (PJP2, Bishop Shanahan).. combined 2/65. I doubt many kids are “selecting” those schools as their choice for Football.

    D12: 4/16 in AAAA are Catholic/Private/Charter.
    5/13 in AAA are Catholic/Private/Charter..

    Combined it’s 9/29 or 1/3 (33%)……..

and that does not include the Inter-AC Schools:
Episcopal, GA, Malvern Prep, Ches Hill Acad, Penn Charter.. I could also include VFMA, the Hill School and the Perkiomen School if we need to go there….

Thus, in the D1/D12 area you have at least 15 Schools that the parents/Schools can select “talent” from the Public Schools for both academic and athletic purposes.

Not a hater. Just a realist… The Public Schools (especially in D12 and D1)have their hands full to create an atmosphere to keep thier talent at a local level..
