  1. Hoping for 4 good games this weekend! Don’t really follow A, but pulling for Old Forge. I think South Fayette will give Imhotep a run for their money, but size kills, and Tep has size in bunches. AAA game might end up being the best game. I think lots of scoring and a back and forth battle. I’m going with McD in a shootout. Prep is gonna have their hands full with PCC. I said in week one that Prep would win the state, so I’m gonna stick by it. However, I wouldn’t bet my first born on it. If the game is close, it’s anybody’s game. If it’s a blowout, I think PCC will be on the big score side.

  2. @Russ,
    I heard a bit in passing after the Del-Val/Roxborough brawl, but nothing definitive. At the Catty/Imhotep game I heard it numerous times. Can’t get anybody involved to give me an absolute answer, but generally when people don’t want to answer, it leans towards gonna happen. Apparently it’s a done deal, as far as who’s getting the job, just waiting to announce it. If it plays out like I’m hearing, it will be a very hot topic next season. PIAA might have to actually start enforcing their rules with this one.

  3. Is their any payout for winning the states?

    I understand because public league can’t has a restriction with kids they can get when catholic private league schools can pick and choose players no matter where they live. It helps when you have no drop off with your backups. Or you can sub players in and have no worry.

  4. I live in the district 11 area and teams here say they dont know why the piaa allows teams in the tournament that can get players from different school districts areas

  5. @jiveturkey @eric : what you Said is true! Public schools can only get players from their area while catholic private can go to bum f*** epygt and get him.

    Is their any payout for teams that win states?

  6. @ David Mika

    That was latin for “I don’t run/hide from the Truth”

    Verum ego non decurunt ex

    @The Truth

    I don’t agree with what I said but the facts is the crying/squeaky wheel gets greased.

    @Jive

    I am pretty sure I know what your talking about I don’t think it is such a big issue and I wasn’t sure it has even been approved.

  7. HEY WITH THIS WEATHER COMING INTO TOMORROW, WILL THEY STILL PLAYS THESE GAMES ? I KNOW THEY HAVE BEFORE JUST MAKING SURE BEFORE POSS FAMILY ROAD TRIP… THANKS FOOTBALL FANS OF [PA]…..

  8. AAAA PCC 34 – St Joes’s 20
    AAA McDevitt 32 – Wood 14
    AA IC 42 – South Fatette 13
    A Old Forge 27 – North Catholic 14

  9. Eric
    Really? Thanks for the late breaking insight. Where did you see these Public School complaints? I don’t think anyone has heard about this. Please share anything that you can.

  10. @Jive

    I think we are talking about the same thing and you are right about changing the game.. that was heard half way thru the season on my end..

  11. PCC over St. Joe’s 42-28
    McDevitt over Wood 35-21
    Imhotep over South Fayette 28-21
    North Catholic over Old Forge 21-14

  12. There is alot of complaints from public schools how they cant compete with private schools because public schools only have players from 1 school district where a private school gets players from multiple school district private schools handle thinga like collages and i think they should investigete certain high schools like they do collages

  13. Russ, are we both talking about a coaching change of sorts? We may be on the same page here. Don’t think it is out there big time yet, but it’s an absolute game changer for sure.

  14. @Jive
    Wood is the best choice of the 3 to give the others a run for their money but they are staying 3A.. about the bombshell you are talking about.. if it is what i think it is, that news was heard by some people weeks ago but decisions werent going to be made til after the season..

    @OL Coach
    the question i asked was with ryan moving down that makes 5 teams in the 3A next year.. is the 3A having 5 teams compared to 4 and the 4A having 4 teams instead of 5…

  15. RedDawgs,

    If Gateway is dropping to 3A thats a complete game changer for the 3A division next year.

    @PHillips2222

    I don’t think there are enough Catholic schools to make that worth while. Especially when many of them are having trouble keeping there doors open.

  16. Phillips, why not have a basketball champion for teams with guys under 6ft tall. Segregation ended long ago. Let the high school kids play against other high school kids, and may the best team win.

  17. @ol, I mentioned Bonner and Ohara because I was having a conversation with Russ. I am well aware of why teams play in enrollment classes. However, it is not unheardof for a team to play a class above their enrollment. Thanks though.

  18. Why not put all the catholic league private league schools in one conference division on the east coast as well as west coast and divide them up by enrollment? Would also do the same thing for public schools gives public league champs a championship and catholic private school league’s it’s own
    championship.

    Hope this makes sense.

  19. Jive
    No list yet, but I will say AAA across the board will be awesome next year. Imhoptep,Wood, Ryan, Gateway, Thomas Jefferson, Mcd, Erie Prep, Berwick, Selinsgrove….

  20. @Jive, Ryan isn’t “making a move”; Ryan’s enrollment no longer meets the requirements for AAAA.

    Wood and Ryan will both be playing AAA since it’s what their enrollment labels them. Schools don’t change their class every two years based on what they believe their roster looks like down the road, nor should they. For scheduling and many other reasons, schools prefer to remain in a class not jump around every 2 years.

    Imhotep is playing up at AAA and I’m sure Coach Crosby is confident they can remain at AAA indefinitely or at least for the foreseeable future.

    WC will continue to play up at the AA class as they have since joining the PIAA.

    I’m not sure why you would even mention schools like O’Hara, Lansdale or Bonner moving up; actually, their next moves whenever that may be will most likely be down a class if enrollments continue to decline in PCL schools. It will happen if and when their enrollment shrinks enough that they are no longer AAA. LC is not very far from the AA cutoff as it is.

    Hopefully, enrollments will stabilize and then begin to increase at PCL schools but it’s highly doubtful.
