  1. @Colin, MIke
I too think PCC wins; I had Wilson making it this far, LD didn’t beat them by much (46 yd FG with virtually no time), see the end of the road here for D3. Unlike most posters here, I think that Berks Catholic has a pretty good shot at Imhotep. BC has very few 2 way starters, lots of team speed, took Wyomissing to the limit last year with essentially the same team back this year. Virtually a home game in Shillington. Biggest concern I see is the Imhotep line size. Could be a better match up than most think.
My other picks go with Neshaminy, Wood, McDevitt.

  2. Imhotep has so much of an advantage over anyone in AA that everybody has them penciled in as state champs that they dont have any competition its that berks catholic isnt good enough and they are undefeated they cant do any better than that i went to the catty and imhotep game saturday got home and came on here and a couple people made comments like good game imhotep and catty.plus good job catty for a gutsy performance how is it a good game and gutsy performance when the score was 49-0 it was 1 sided its not a good game when its 1 sided

  3. @Eric,

Hear ya loud and clear about the Allentown and Bethlehem schools. Central Bucks and West Chester both have 3 HS’s. Students have to stick to boundaries. However this would be nearly impossible to duplicate in Phila for many reasons. One of them is that there are so many HS’s in Phila. Keeping track of boundaries for all those schools would be a logistical nightmare.

  4. @Mike A

I think the PCC/LD score may be worse than that unfortunately. I watched some film of the LD game against Wilson and even tho they won they were not very impressive. They also looked kinda small as well. I wont say the cant win but I will be very surprised if they did. But as we all know the best team doesn’t always win.

  5. IM LIKING [NASHAMINY] OVER [ST.JOES PREP],, BOTH TEAMS ARE REALLY GOOD BUT GOING WITH SKINS. IM TAKING [WOOD]OVER BERWICK. AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE [ B.MCDEVITT ] WIN BUT THATS A HARD ONE FOR THEM .. GOOD LUCK TO ALL TAMS LEFT AND SEE Y’ALL IN HERSHEY. DEC 13/14 ..

  6. Didn’t do a A final prediction because I honestly have no clue. Taking a quick look at both teams through the playoffs, this is probably gonna be the best game of the 4. Good luck to ALL 8 teams playing in the East this week!

  7. Predictions on Eastern Finals!
AA; I found a Berks Catholic roster on Pennlive. If it’s accurate, Berks has 4 kids over 200lbs, maxing out at 230 with their biggest kid. That will not get it done against Imhotep. I was at the Tep/Catty game. Catty team is athletic, well coached, and seem to have 5 guys in on every tackle. This is not a knock on them at all, but compared to Tep, they were tiny. If you can’t put up a fight in the trenches, it’s gonna be a long day. Tep by mercy rule.

AAA; Berwick, on the other hand, does have the size to battle Wood in the trenches. The one thing that really sticks out with Berwick is their first playoff game. How do you go from beating Crestwood 41-7 during the season, to squeaking out a playoff game, against the same team, 14-13? Berwick has not seen the likes of a team like Wood all year, Wood has played a few of the best AAAA teams D12 has to offer. Wood looks to be peaking right now, bad news for Berwick. Wood by 3 or 4 TD’s.

AAAA; This is the game a lot of folks think could go either way. Back in the beginning of the year I said Neshaminy was the only good team in D1. I think the way NP got trounced in their 3 non-league games, and then making it to the D1 final, undefeated, proves that. Neshaminy cruised through a bad schedule, and came up way short in their biggest game of the year. Losing to your rival is not bad. Losing to your rival 31-3, when you’re the big dog in the league, is really bad. Prep is another team that plays the best schedule they can, to be ready for this time of year. (Last chance I’ll have to give props to NP for doing the same!) I know there is not a whole lot of D12 love, but all 5 AAAA teams would have made the playoffs in any league in the state. Prep plays in the best league, and is tested on a weekly basis. This makes me lean towards Prep in this one. Will they win as big as Wood and Tep? I don’t think they win that big, but by a 17-20 point margin wouldn’t shock me.

  8. Mard d

Steel-High is very fast. They get most of their yards outside of the tackles. The two games i saw it was mostly running.

  9. What can any one out their tell me about Steelton? Are they big, fast what offence do they run defence, passing team running team blalanced?

  10. @ Neshskin:

Yep, we are all in the same division next year.
NP is no where near as bad as they showed against Neshaminy. Not sure if Neshaminy is as good as they showed, but I hope so. I love to see them beat Prep. Better bring their defense. If they do, they can win.

  11. Why Not Some Early Predictions

    AAAA
    West PCC over Lower Dauphin
East St. Joes Prep over Neshaminy

    AAA
West Erie Prep over McDevitt (Wish this game was the state final)
    East Wood over Berwick

    AA
    West South Fayette over Hickory
    East Imhotep over Berks Catholic

    A
    West North Catholic over Clarion
East Old Forge over Steel High

  12. @Buddy

Neshaminy has a good shot i would say.
Berwick has a tall order in front of them.
    Berks ……………..nada

  13. PCC will beat Lower Dauphin by a wide margin. I predict 35-10. Lower Dauphin is very one dimensional. About 60-70% of their plays were direct snaps to the QB who either ran a sweep right or left looking for a seam. After Cumberland Valley figured this out at halftime LD gained less than 70 total yards in the second half. CV ran for over 300 yards and had more than 400 yards total offense with the second string QB(starter was hurt before last weeks game)against the vaunted LD defense. Special teams, a turnover, and a questionable decision by the coach to go for it on 4th and 7 at LD 40 yard line cost them field position for a full quarter. LD does have a good punter and the best kicker in the state and that was the difference.

  14. Does anyone remember the name of that FB/LB that Beccahi had in the early 2000’s? THat played with Scipio.

  15. Up here in allentown and bethlehem have 2 public schools but they both have boundaries between both schools you dont have a choice of which school you can go to depending what part of the city you live depends on what school you can go too

  16. @Eric,

public schools in Philly have no boundaries either. Soon you will be saying kick D12 back out of the piaa. We are just proving to the whole state that Philly is not just known for basketball, cheesesteaks and soft pretzels. We known for football also.. Get use to it, get over it and cry a river in your beer. Let the kids play and the adults whine..

  17. @ Phillyboy
Pennsbury had a really weak game against NP, provably because they are such a young team. They made a couple of mistakes and NP took advantage of it. I believe if they play that game again Pennsbury will beat NP. I am also afraid to admit that if Pennsbury was the one playing Neshaminy on the district final, Neshaminy could have lost again or it would have been a lot closer than it was against NP. Pennsbury is a very talented young team, watch out for them next season.

  18. Eric,

Every Phila. charter school boundary is the city of Phila. Just like your traditional Public schools like Frankford and George Washington. The Phila School district is open enrollment. These where the rules that had been followed back when teams like Liberty and Parkland where beating FKD and GW 42-7. Even with the ways things are Imhotep is likely to the only Public team to make this kind of a dent in the state playoffs.

  19. Charter schools in Philadelphia have the same boundaries that the public schools do because they are PUBLIC SCHOOLS just not operated by the School District of Philadelphia.

Maybe it’s time to stop going to every where you go “up here” and go look on the Philadelphia School District’s website for your information instead of relying on misinformation from people who A) Don’t know and B) have a grudge against charter schools.

  20. @eric,
That is because up there people have no clue about Philadelphia’s public school system. Philadelphia public schools have the same boundaries as charter schools. In Philadelphia we have school choice. Meaning any Philadelphia resident can attend any Philadelphia public school regardless of location. The exception would be magnet schools like Masterman or Central that require students to pass tests to get in. However, if you pass the test, you may attend regardless of where you live, as long as you live inside the city limits.
