  1. @????,
Good stuff on the articles! I like your input with the Imhotep stuff, I think you’re on the inside. Like I said about 4.4, it’s really fast and not realistic for most high school kids. The article on Moore, who I think is a fantastic receiver, said he was timed at 4.6, he thinks he can run a 4.5. Prep force has thrones at 4.5, I’m not a fan of them pay for info recruiting sites, but I’ll go with it. Still only documented time I have seen for Scott puts him at 4.68. All highly respectable times, just not 4.4.

  2. A lot of talk about IC bcuz of them being a charter. Don’t believe the charter hype!! Most don’t know that charter schools receive 20-25% less dollars than Philly public schools, but are required to outperform traditional public schools. Crazy right!?!?! Catholic schools can pick the cream of the crop in their area, and from across the county lines. Charters can’t!!

  3. @rrmark im not sure about brandon purrone but i know what you mean it didnt look good yesterday he was in alot of pain

  4. @ Facts

Never did I say anything negative about the players. They are talented and I think they will absolutely win the AA title. Can’t emphasize that enough.
Now we are throwing throwing around data on this site like an encyclopedia. What is the NFHS # on that rule of athletes participating in 6 quarters. It sounds logical and safe however I can’t find it in my rule book. I am probably just interpreting it the wrong way. By the way Facts, weren’t you the one who was ripping me about BYE week D12 receives and made the statement that IC played their players the whole game last season. Which you said makes the BYE legit for D12. Isn’t that a little hypocritical of the Catty guys stating thy did that also? With the whole transfer data, I followed what Jive stated about a player from WC that is playing with IC, no big deal, just don’t play the gridiron gang philosophy here. So is Jive wrong or are you? I kinda follow his facts a little more attentively and he provides NFHS #’s for rules.
I really do wish the best for our teams in the East and if IC makes it. Rest assured I will be rooting for them to take it all.
Also, I agree with the 4.4 concept. People have no idea how fast that is. Check the Penntrackxc for data on your local kids on how they perform in track. Kids that run sub 11 seconds F.A.T. In the 100M can run about 4.5’s legit. Check how many kids we have in the state that run sub 11. How many of them play football? You will value 4.4 a little more.

To answer your questions about Henry hynosky being from mt caramel u are right the old hynoskys are from caramel but by the time Henry was a young boy an coming up thru Grade school the Family have moved to the Southern Columbia school district your still allowed to move your family any where u want to live as far as I know.. And for the Gus fielder kid from Simon Gratz that was a troubled teen that was in trouble in the Philly area and was sent to the red rock job corps center which is a home for troubled teens to live an work a job now I’m not 100 percent sure on this for it was about 17 years ago but from what I heard back then is that he was adopted by someone that lived in the ber area so that’s how he got to ber ..now where would that kid have been if it wasn’t for ber football who knows maybe living on the streets somewhere.. He came to ber and in time put his grades through the roof and got his self A Division I scholarship at Penn State..now that whole thing was investigated by the PIAA back then to make sure everything was legit and they found nothing birth certificate was good age was good everything was legit and and in order case closed…

  6. @jive

Penn State timed D Scott at 4.43 I was there interviewing him after he ran it and DJ Moore had 4.6 posted wrong time but Thrones 4.6 too

  7. We’ll facts ???? Just named u 3 kids that run in the 4.4 range an that Nasir bonner kid ran about a 4.47 as we’ll..an I’m not talkin about one 300 pound lineman lots of schools have one I’m talkin a whole O line that averages bout 6foot 4 an 300 pounds or dam close to it . But yes you are right IC is lookin more like a nike combine team.. So u better get your facts facts if u wanna play this game. An no I’m not one of them people that cry bout IC should play up a class or 2 cuz u have a huge team or a 70 man roster if your school enrollment is AA than its fair u play AA.. Now I’m not bashing IC nor do I think it’s a bad school I think it’s a good thing to give the inner city kids a chance to go to a good sports program and have a good division I or II future when they cant afford to go to one of the big fancy Catholic schools..now go out an get your self a AA state title an bring one home for the east. Good luck to all the teams still playing cuz when your still playing football at this time of year it means u have a dam good football team there are no weeks sisters this time year…

  8. @????,
I think because the term 4.4 40 is thrown around so much, people don’t realize how fast that is. That time is pushing Olympic fast. To have one kid on a team run a 4.4 is amazing, 3 kids is unheard of. ESPN recruiting has Scott at 4.68, I think ESPN is pretty reputable. From track times I have seen, I know Scott is a faster sprinter than Moore. Couldn’t find anything on Thrones. I’m sure somebody told you them times, but sometimes people exaggerate about it. 4.68 for a high school kid is really fast, and he will only get faster with the trainers at ASU.

  9. @the quite one,
I hear ya. I was involved with a team in that league a few years ago. We had 5 or 6 8th graders that were pretty darn good. We were told at our 2nd practice that the kids would lose a year of eligibility if they played, we took their equipment and sent them on their way. Kinda funny cause we went from “Yahoo, we’re really good”, to “gonna be a long winter”, in a 5 minute span.

  10. @ jive you right about the concussion problem. There is a unlimited weight winter football league for kids who can’t make pound ball weight , and if an incoming ninth grader played in that league while in the eight grade will cause that high school team its season. Piaa is really serous about that rule, some coaches has over heard that one or two of their player was in that league and had to sit them down or lose the season. I thought it was unfair because all other sports like track, basketball, etc can play year round and get better. So a coach at a middle school and i spoke with one of the officials of piaa and he was really serious about kids playing more than 6 quarters in a 7 day spend and playing fall and winter football. I wish that I could remember his name i would put it on this blog so that you could check it out yourself.

  11. Catasaqua will play their starters for four quarters tomorrow afternoon. I’ve never heard of the rule but I can understand it. It would be interesting if catty would win would Imhotep contest the game? Haha, I’d hope not. Imhotep is a heavy favorite and if catty can play a complete game then maybe they don’t get mercy ruled!

PS: I was told from someone inside the catty program that Burton will not play and is done for the season.

  12. This year we had weather delays the pushed games to sunday and monday in the Lacakwanna Conference, and thouse teams playes the next friday.Easton and Stroudsburg have both played their full teams on Thanksgiven and then Saturday in the States playoffs. So is this a PIAA rule that we just enforce when we want to ?

  13. @Jive, I believe the rule is actually 6 quarters in a given week not a 7 day period so that would explain it. I believe the intent of the rule was to originally keep a kid from playing a full JV game as well as a full varsity game in a given week.

  14. I never heard of that 6 quarters in one week rule. Interesting.
I doubt that Catty will adhere to that, as I believe they shouldn’t. That will definitely seal their fate. Be tough enough as is.

Does anyone know if their ( Catty’s) star running back, RaVon Burton, is able to play ?

  15. 2nd half Catty defensive players especially were going through the motions just trying to stay healthy. They did sub quite a bit to get non starting seniors playing time. But there is a big drop off from 1’s to 2’s. That game is about the seniors for both teams and tanking it would have been a glaring disservice to Northampton.

We all know why King won. I even read Crosby was moaning about having to play the game. He didn’t want to out there on a cold T-day morning and neither did the kids. But Catty’s game is a different story.

  16. @Uptown,
This is probably a dumb question, but I’ve never been accused of being a rocket scientist. With the 6 quarters in the 7 day period rule, what about teams that play Saturday and then the following Friday? I’m guessing there is some kind of exception on something like that, because we have that happen often around here. Any idea?
