  1. Yes, I think “the facts” just might also be “the quite one”. He doesn’t seem to know how to spell though (quite for quiet and band for banned). He skipped vocabulary in school. See, I didn’t even need to call you any names.

Good luck Andre Dreuitt, Nasir Bonner and D’Andre Scott et al. on the rest of your amazing season. See, I am the first person in a while to give these kids some props. And it wasn’t even to brag about all their D1 offers or to use them to claim someone else was hating on them.

  2. I have observed both Lake Lehman and Old Forge. For Catty to beat Lake Lehman, they will have move the ball off tackle. Inside run (dive, iso, trap and zone) will be plugged because their FB is also their D Tackle and he moves faster than the 6′ 7″ tackle. The FB is also a top recruit of the IVY league from what I have been told.
Old Forge will be strong defensively with their 2 inside backers #4 and #32. Southern probably has backers equal but definitely not better than these 2. Old Forge is really strong up front and they also have a very good back in #42. It should be a high powered match up. No blowouts in either game. I would be surprised if either games margin of victory is over 2 TD’s.

  3. Ok, @The Facts, I’ll bring my ball back just for you..
    You said this…
“Don’t get mad at the kids holding their cards, get mad at the dealer who dealt them their hand..”

    After I clearly stated this…
“As for respect.. the kids deserve it. NOT the PIAA or district 12 or a school’s administration or coaching staff. They are adults who have a say in and make the decisions that the kids are forced to play under.”

I bend over backwards to make it clear that I have no beef with the kids, yet you still go on with your fantasy of me being some mean hater of the IC players. You seem to want to read what isn’t there. Please stop the nonsense.

And when I report about the Catty team, I am not bragging or trying to talk them up. Eric asked who saw them and I give an honest opinion of their strengths and weaknesses. Those are the heights of their wideouts and, if Lake-Lehman has trouble against the pass, that would be an area where Catty has an advantage. They like to throw it up over smaller DB’s. Does that mean I think Catty has the best WR’s in the state? No… But they are pretty good and they deserve mention. Paryss Marshall, Derrick Bond, Ricky Houser, Jake Stopay. Do you really think a former NBA player would purposely choose little Catasauqua for his talented son to play football? The Catty players play for their community because they have no reasonable CHOICE. In a town of 6000 or whatever, there is only one high school. 227 of them are male and 38 came out for football. They deserve credit for a fine season. If they lose on Friday, or later, it will still be a great season for everyone.

I find it funny that for people so worried about the kids, not once have I seen anyone talk about the accomplishments of said IC players. No stats, no records set… Not a single mention of details of the games or kids’ names which would indicate a true interest in their season. That shows to me that people in here aren’t truly interested in the team… They just want to get their state title to make them feel all warm and fuzzy inside and complete them somehow. Selfish in my view. High school football is about more than winning titles. But the real Philly public league teams might have a shot if some of those talented IC players CHOSE to “spread some of that wealth” around. Key word: Choose.

Finally, The Quite One said this:
@RRMARKS YOU ARE A BITTER AND SAD PIECE OF WORK, AND YOU MY FRIEND SHOULD BE BAND [sic] FROM HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL AND BLOGS.. Certainly sounds like he means it. Did you miss that? Maybe somebody else in here is using multiple names.

  4. The question with Lake-Lehman’s gaudy stats is their competition. Holy Redeemer, Montrose, Nanticoke, Wyo Area etc… didn’t stop anyone. Catty put 62 up on a Southern Lehigh defense that pretty much shut down a speedy Bethlehem Catholic offense all night in the AAA title game. But LL does seem to have the right formula to keep Catty’s offense off the field. Also, potential wet weather favors LL.

  5. i dont see easton doing much of anything against parkland to be honest. parkland always seems to hit their stride during the playoffs. unfrotunately it also seems like easton is more worried about their thanksgiving day game than the playoffs.
thats like their championship. i just hope parkland can make a run in the state playoffs though from what ive heard it sounds like they dont have a shot after this week. but itll be intersting to see either way.

  6. RRmarks

My man… Don’t run and take your ball yet.. We still have a last quarter to debate the facts… Now I want err-body to read what this dude is insinuating. He proclaims that Catholic, charter and private schools should compete in their own league outside of the PIAA. He wants to discriminate against Catholics.. Naw, that’s to harsh, I retract that statement. But he fails to realize a charter school has NEVER even been to a state final. He fails to recognize that 3 out of the 4 2012 state champions were all public schools.
And remember EasternPa football fans, this was the same critic who said IC plays a lil league schedule (filled with charter and catholic schools mind you) and should not play that powerhouse (no pun intended) School of the Future which is also a charter school.. If the district 12 catholic, charter, and private schools are so good that they need to compete at a higher level in their own league outside of the PIAA, how come they have to highest combined loses in district 12 than public schools. It they are so dominant how can you call IC schedule a lil league schedule and how come they don’t advance in states.
Ladies and gents, I truly believe rr (rail-road) marks is trying his darness to politically and administratively clear the lane for Cata to win states instead of allowing those three over 6′ WRs to do it on the field..
“Sidebar your honor?” (Sure) “how can a coach”(objection, sustain); “I mean, how can a man complain about a team having access to size and speed when he has the biggest wideouts in the state..?Bigger than the Eagles mind you..” (Revelance?) “None your honor, just a statement!” (Get back to your closing argument Facts and make it quick..) “ok..”
Ladies and gentleman this man says IC has an unfair of advantage because of the number of youth teams in his area. I want to provide exhibit a-23-678ahole-u-r.. In this exhibit or map you will clearly see that IC is a small 2A school surrounded by King (3A), Central (4A), Cheltenham (4A), fornerly Germantown (4A), Penn Charter (inter ac), LaSalle (4A), Mastery (3A), Abington (4A), and McDevitt (2A) who all have access and benefits from these same lil league programs.
So ladies and gents of the court, I rest my case and you clearly see the true intentions of rr marks.. Do you really believe someone contacted EasternPa to have him band..if they did shame on them.. Good men love great debates.. So I will close my case with the hope that you will return a verdict of not guilty for IC playing the cards they were dealt and playing it well.. Don’t get mad at the kids holding their cards, get mad at the dealer who dealt them their hand..

    Case closed!

  7. @Buddy!
I’m anxiously awaiting your breakdown of how PV has a chance. I totally get that on any given night a team can win a big game?

But since you go to all the NP games, and wrote them off in early September please tell us all how you think PV can win!

Is it the passing game? The running game? The 3-4 defense? Are they Big? Fast? Are they Deep? Coaching?

NP has BEAT up arguably 2 of the better teams in the D1 bracket the last 2 weeks!!!

Aside from a complete NP breakdown PV will get blown away! I’ll tell you why I think that after I get your explanation.

We are both NP fans with very different perspectives of the team, when will you nice them the credit they deserve? Maybe I have a better seat!

  8. @fwgritty,
Imhotep did beat LaSalle, just not with ease. It was a great game until the circus catch TD at the end made it a 2 store game. Like I said to Facts, the kids can only play who’s on the schedule. I love that they played ECA with no prep time, when they could have scheduled a cream puff or taken a week off. By no means am I trying to downplay their schedule, it is what it is, but a team like Bonner is, well they’re just Bonner.

You know I try to stay level teams, probably really try to stay level on Imhotep. There are topics I will attack, and topics where I will defend them until the end. Does it mean I’m right either time? Nope, but I do my best to get the best info I can on a subject to be impartial. It’s tough be impartial with Tep because I know some of their kids, my kids played against them, went to camps with them, and of course they’re D12. The thing I guess I’m trying to say about this whole thing is that people are gonna root against Imhotep from the minute they walk on the field for numerous reasons. Some valid, like hey they’re playing my team. Some just because they’re from the city, some folks just root for the underdog, and some people are gonna root against them because of who they are. I just don’t see any reason to add to these folks hate fire that burns in them. If somebody is gonna hate, let em hate, you’re not gonna change their mind, ever. However, when it’s all said and done, you can sit back with a smile, and that hate fire will still be burning hot inside them.

  9. Does Easton have a chance against Parkland?
Does PV have a chance against NP ( my opinion…yes)
Does Abington have a chance against Neshaminy?
Of course, this is the PCL’s bye week………. shall we discuss? 🙂

  10. The problem Catty might have is seeing the ball.Lehman grinds you down with that power running game and eats clock.

  11. Catty is fast. They run well & can pass when needed. Won’t keep Lehman off the board, but I think Catty can out score them.

  12. Stats on Lake Lehman thru 11 games (does not include district final)

Rush Offense: 4005 yards, 364 yards per game average
Pass Offense: 299 yards, 27 yards pr game average

    Dustin Jones – 1492 yards, 24 tds – 7.7 ypc
    Joey Vigil – 1251 yards, 13 tds – 13.2 ypc
    Brady Butler – 545 yards, 4 tds – 6.9 ypc

  13. Eric,

I have seen every game in person. Catasauqua won its league that included the AAA district 11 runner up and the eastern conference AA and AAA champions. Here is the reality at this point… They have been hit with 3 big injuries (knees) mid season and kind of limped into the playoffs. If not for their success, 2 of those players would probably have been shut down with surgery. And they don’t have big numbers to absorb injuries well. Burton is kind of their Lawrence Taylor at OLB and the coaches pretty much shut him down on defense the 2nd half of the season. His closing speed on blitzes and his pass coverage was sorely missed. The district crown was a big goal of theirs and they will have to avoid a let down against Lake-Lehman (they also have a big rivalry game on Thanksgiving). My thoughts for this game is they will have to score quickly and often, get a lead, stack the box and force LL to the air. I’m sure the coaches will be trying to find out what Old Forge and Meyers did defensively and what Dallas and maybe Northwest did offensively (passing). Any specific questions, I’d be happy to answer.

  14. Easton24 Dad, your comments are why the school and program is not respected in the area. Parkland also sends you home with goodie bags for Thanksgiving while they’re watching Parkland playing in game 14

  15. I am done with football politics, for lack of a better term. It is just too emotional here for some to handle opposing viewpoints without feeling “disrespected”. I apologize to those I may have offended with some of my impassioned yet apparently incendiary remarks.

  16. Catasauquas qb thru for 2347 yards a nd 36 tds the receiver caught 62 passes for 1197 yards the running back ran for 1499 yards 22 tds

  17. They have a pretty good line but there not extremely big catty has a high power offense though they can run and pass there quarterback and receiver broke all sorts of records and the running back would have 2000 yards if he wasnt injured for 2 games

  18. In the D2 AA final, Lake Lehman’s 250 pound running back Dustin Jones carried the ball 38 times for 311 yards and 4 touchdowns.

If Catty is going to win the game, they have to be able to stop Lehmans power running game.

  19. Catty vs. Lake-Lehman

Would seem to be a speed/air assault vs. power/ground forces. Hard to get much game video of Lake-Lehman, but they seem to be a young, physical team. They have a power rushing attack with Butler and big back Dustin Jones proving to be a load to say the least. Catty will be outsized in the trenches once again as well. 6’7″, 315lb Pete Borum will be a tall order (no pun intended). They don’t need to pass much. Can they keep up if Catty has its quick strike offense going (has been on all cylinders so far in the playoffs)? Bradley has been on target. Hurting the Rough Riders is Ra’Von Burton’s dinged up knee which takes away a lot of his cutting ability right now. But his downhill speed is still there evidently.
Can LL’s backfield cover Catty’s speed and height with wide-outs who go 6’3″, 6’3″ and 6’2″? Bodes well for them defensively if they can. If not, this could be a high scoring affair. LL’s defense has been stout all year but recently gave up some points through the air to a rebuilding Dallas squad.

  20. How is Catasauqua against the run? Do they have a big line? Are they a physical team, or a finesse team.

Lehman is a ground and pound team. They run 99% of the time. Their tailback is 250 pounds and is the starting heavyweight for their wresting team. Going in to last Friday’s game (11 games) he has 1500 yards, 24 td’s, and 7.7 YPC.

The only loss Lehman had was to the D2 single A champion, Old Forge.

  21. @jive turkey
I respect your opinion on this thread. You seem to be knowledgeable about youth football. I’m a fan and been a fan for several years. No one is making excuses about last year or any other. My point for mentioning schools that we played is that, we will play anyone who is in front of us and anywhere. It seems you are making excuses about our opponents, Lasalle not being a complete team and Bonner”s 3 wins this year. Every team has issues, IC has injuries, suspensions, and grades. That’s why you have backups, ready for action. Yes I will support IC, like I have over the past 7 years.

  22. Facts, I take that bye week rant with a grain of salt. If it’s not that, it’s some other excuse why a team got beat. Kids can only play the schedule put in front of them. That being said, I sure hope Tep’s JV is on the field by the start of the 2nd quarter against King. Hate to see them lose anybody due to an injury or something, with the much bigger games ahead of them.

People don’t understand or want to understand the tradition that goes into some of these thanksgiving games. Take Judge/Lincoln as an example. The money raised in that game goes to families of disabled and deceased veterans. Do the folks complaining about the by week know why Judge teams wear a 27 on their jerseys. The number represents the 27 Judge grads that died in the Vietnam war, the most students deceased during that war from any school in the USA. I’d love for any American to tell me how that game is not more important than a PIAA playoff game for 1 week. Then go tell it to the soldiers family that will be able to have a Christmas this year from the money raised. Sometimes we get lost in the heat of the games. Sometimes we need to step back and realize some things are bigger than high school football.
