  1. @Nathan i also attented the game, and Abington came out and punched Prep in the mouth,They were the more physical team.Abington had scored 14 when thouse players got hurt and no one that i know of was hurt in the secondary. In that 4th quarter Abington ran the ball down their throat took like 8 min off the clock and kick the field goal that put it away. my hat off to Prep they hung in their, but Friday night Abington was the better team

  2. Prep better not sleep on this Frankford team they have a pretty good Defense and are alot better than they were the 1st 3 weeks.

  3. Do not overlook Spring-Ford. Their two losses are against Whitehall (10-1) and Pottsgrove (11-0). Their stud running back did not play in either game(I don’t know why and it really doesn’t matter). Jared Jones is the real deal with 1582 yards on only 148 carries with 25 TD’s. Last week vs. Downingtown he rushed for 231 yards and 5 touchdowns.

  4. @ 4bkmules AH and Berwick played 3 common oppenents this year, AH defeated Pittston 28-0, Dallas 17-0, Williamsport 33-0, Berwick defeated Pittston 50-0, Dallas 37-7, Williamsport 43-7. So looking at those scores still think Berwick can handle Abington Heights.

  5. @Tsaf,

D7 is good football no doubt. NA is certainly no pushover. They still have a talented team. But with all they lost they still where able to push what could be the best D7 team to the end. LAst year it was NA and whatever Eastern team That was playing for 2nd. A D7 team may still win the 4A title this year. But from what I saw and whats left in D7 I think the East has more than a fair chance to win it.

  6. @tank… Actually I don’t know that!!! You have dreampt it up. What I witnessed on Friday night was a TEAM outplay it’s opponent in a wild and crazy way. Just give them some credit,,, they shut out a good TEAM with other College recruited players.

If a program that went to the state championship last year and to a 9-1 regular season record this year was all on Workeys back shame on them. His back up had 380 yards in the 2 games he missed so it not like the couldn’t run… Ummmm…Until Friday night!!!

Give it up, actually as it worked out it looked like Perk Valley had the easiest game on Friday.

I don’t know Worley and $10 says you never saw him play.

Again, you go spouting off just hating away based nothing!

Time will tell and the boys get to play the game.

I got an idea… Let’s get Rustin into The SOL confrence next year and see how they do.

Neshaminy, Pennsbury, Abington, North Penn, CR South, CB South, Bensalem!

5 were in the D1 playoffs and 4 still left.

North Penn is the underdog going in, so you won’t look like the genius you keep telling yourself you are.

You should come out and watch…. Then what you say will have some Merritt!!

  7. @joker1 neshaminy can beat NP too. I would say pennsbury neshaminy in title game at this point. You know NP beat coatesville because worley didnt play everyone knows that they had the easiest first round game

  8. @ Colin

I actually was able to watch the same games as you, though I have comcast, I saw McKeesport destroy a Gateway team having 3 days practice (because they played on a Thurs. night) in preparation of an option offense they likely didn’t see all season. It is one of those cliches, if this team beat this team by so much, they should beat this team by so much.
Gateway is a vary talented team that can hang with anyone in D7 and in the state. North Allegheny is the same way. Of course they graduated talented kids off of that great team from last season, but they are by no means a push over. N.A. still had a few D1 commits on its team. Gateway has its fair share. These are two talented teams that were eliminated in D7.
N.A. also had a harder time winning D7 (WPIAL) than they did the PIAA championship last season.

    @Jive

I will take the bate and comment about the bye that Prep has as that would be “advantageous” for them to have 2 weeks without an opponent that can potentially knock them out. If the QB didn’t play against the D11 champ, they would have a good chance of losing. I know we want to observe these teams playing at full strength however that is usually the variable that prevents the best teams from winning, the “war of attrition.” I know the reference to Coatesville and their loss shows how lopsided a game can be without your best player. This is an example of where the “bye” helps. St. Joes at full strength will probably win the East, maybe not the state title however. The PCL is a different brand of football in the East. You proved that claim with North Penn as an example.

  9. Tank just keep yapping !!!!

I’m guessing you have not seen either Pennsbury or North Penn play this year and you are basing your points about how bad NP is because they got wrecked by the PCL teams and Buddy says he watches them and posts his point.

I saw Pensbury play twice including against Neshaminy.

They have a great running game and it will be a challenge for NP to stop them completely.

NP is better then you think and better then Pennsbury defensively.

My perspective based on SEEING them play.

    Offense- Pennsbury
    Defense- North Penn
    Special Teams- NP Kicker
    Coaching North Penn

Winner of this game will win the district.

  10. Buddy,

I live in PAC 10 area so I do get to see Pottsgrove a bit. They normally are the class of the PAC 10. This years group is pretty good. I thing they will win D1. With that being said I don’t think they will beat Wood. I think it should be a good game tho. But….that’s why they play the games. Who knows….maybe MLK will knock off Wood ;)lol

  11. @ Joker1:

It might be easy for you and I to know this ain’t the same kind of 11th seed as 2 years ago, but a lot of people don’t remember that team.

Of course Worley doesn’t get 100% of the points ( although that might not be far off), that’s not the point. He’s a game changer. Do you think NP has that time of possession if Worley is playing? Of course not. I think it would had been a helluva tight game with Worley, with C’ville winning by a nose ( mainly due to home field)
    Just an opinion………. I’m allowed.

Pennsbury hasn’t played a NP team this “weak” in 9 years. Many of the teams they had in past years ( except last year) were simply off the charts. The only teams that had their number in the past was a few of the PCL teams, and not all the time ( but most of the time). You can’t use past history as a barometer of what happens now.

I doubt that any team in the league that would have a lot of fans left in the stands in the 4th quarter with the score 31 to 0. Hell, I left at the start of the 4th to beat the traffic and I’m a NP fan.

  12. @ Tank…. Keep hating on NP, your team is out and you have not seen NP play.

@ Buddy… It’s easy to say they are not as good as the 2011 11 seed.

    By the numbers….

    1. 31-0 with or without Worley it was a whipping. I was at the game, they got outplayed and out coached. They didn’t give up, they got beat. I guess Whorley had 100% of the teams points up till he got hurt?

    2. Pennsbury has not beat North Penn in 9 years, going back to when they were in the same division.

    3. North Penn had more fans in the stands then Coatseville and at the start of the 4th quarter only the Coatseville band and the parents who had to drive players home were left.

  13. @football fan:

Afraid I have to agree. I don’t see NP beating Pennsbury. This is not the same 11th seeded NP team of 2 years ago. Do hope I’m wrong.

    @ MK:

Yea, not sure why NP doesn’t travel well. Never has. Baffles the hell outa me. I think they have to be in the eastern final to draw well. Very unlikely.

  14. Yea rustin lost. But its hard to win when you turn the ball over in the red zone. Penalties and miscues will get you beat everytime dont matter who your playing. Having said that you guys were right. But talk to me next weekend when NP season is over if you really think they can beat pennsbury your a funny guy. NP beat coatesville not an impressive win.

  15. Now Now boys, you are upsetting Jive. He just might take his ball and bat and go home.
    ……….. one can only hope.

    Tank:

Believe it or not, I agree with you. I don’t think North Penn wins if Worley plays.
It’s not that Worley gets 31 points himself, but it changes the whole dynamics. NP might only have the ball half of the time they did, thus not scoring, plus C’ville doesn’t give up in the 2nd half like they obviously did.

    Colin:

I have Dish TV, I’m hoping they also have that ROOT channel. I certainly would watch those games.I haven’t seen it though. Gotta look around.

How would Pottsgrove fair against Wood?
Potentially a real tight game in my opinion.

  16. Watching the playoff coverage on the news, I have been very surprised at the lack of fan support at the games. The bleachers are 3 quarters empty. Very surprised that a lot of the big schools don’t travel very well. NP at C’ville for example, NP’s side was empty. What are some of the teams in D1 that do travel well?

  17. @jiveturkey. Funny how you like to make little jokes to avoid valid points. Im going to ignore your little comment about making it easy for me. So when you say tell me again how powerful the Ches-Mont team, doesn’t again mean that I said it was powerful previously? Again I stated facts that 3 of the 4 teams were at home. And in my predictions I only had Rustin advancing, so I went 3/4.

And if you don’t think Worley can be a 31 pt difference at the hs level where the kids have given up emotionally then you don’t know hs football or kids for that matter. Those kids in Coatesville quit two weeks ago, they should beat D-West without Worley and they got crushed. Coatesville was probably the easiest draw in the first round this year because of the circumstances.

  18. District 2 First Round:
Scranton Prep went in 10-0 and their season ends with a 31-26 defeat to Abington Heights. JC Show completes a key 3 & 8 pass late to Nate Hollinder to seal the win despite near perfect defensive coverage.
Crestwood pushed Berwick 10-0 all over the field, however Max Thomas breaks up a 4th down pass from Dave Popson intended for Lance Blass on Crestwood’s last play to save the win 14-13.

It will be a rematch between Abington Heights at Berwick next Saturday for the District 2 title. Going off today’s performance it could be a long Sat afternoon for Berwick. Many people thought Berwick was going to go to the Eastern Finals????

  19. Philly boy,

On directv I can get D7 games on ROOT sports. Last night I watched Upper St Clair vs North Allegheny. St Clair is the #1 seed and to be quite honest I wasn’t overly impressed. NA lost so much from last years team and was the 9seed. Game was tight util USC pulled away in the 4th. It is only 1 game that i have in which but I think The Eastern Rep could certainly beat USC. I actually thought McKeesport was the best 4A team out west but they were upset last night. I havnt had the chance to see PCC but im sure they are pretty good. One thing is for sure. No team out west this year is near the class to what North Allegheny was last year.

  20. @SteveS

According to you LS was outcoached, defense could not stop anyone, offense was lacking, their young and inexperienced…..sounds like outclassed to me. I agree they will be back next year. Seems our posts are virtually identical. All the best to LS, they have a great program.

  21. So I’m thinking about going to see pottsgrove game this week. Can someone give me a scouting report of them?

    Thanks

  22. @phillyboy, Wilson is for real. They play sound team defense, very tough to run against. Give up avg less than100 yds rushing. Balanced offense. Won big last night with backup QB. Tough rematch next week with Penn Manor, get by that and should go to D3 final. This is a program that suits up 92 kids, relaced 19 starters and didn’t miss a beat. 2 solid running backs, and really spread ball to a lot of receivers. Only issue is Wilson is undersized, no lineman over 220, and not particulary fast. Just play solid team ball and very strong physically.

Watching D7 it looks like Upper St Clair or PCC, both have beenstrong all season. If Wilson wins D3 I would expect D7 to win the state semi, don’t think Wilson will have size or speed to match up.

  23. @Bill

Went to the Prep vs. Abington game. Prep played extremely well under the circumstances. Their two best defensive players sidelined because of injury and I heard their secondary was also plagued with injuries. I do agree though the match-ups can’t ever be set in stone because of such situations.
