  1. @ joker1 I agree but it’s not like NP even competed with the first three teams and CB West was the only solid D1 win. In my predictions I have NP winning but that’s why the games are played. I’ll be watching Rustin vs Perk Valley. I’ve seen Rustin play a few times so I know what they are capable of. I hear this kid Rasaan Stewart is really good for Perk Valley and one of the best Athletes in the state. Loper for Rustin is one of the best backs in the state. Friday can’t get here soon enough

  2. Ok your the 2 seed! Sorry!

Look they are a good team, you may be right, they will beat everybody and March up to Hershey. NP could lose to Pensbury (probably the best team in the 16) right now, heck NP could lose to Coatseville.

Here is a little history in D1 that may help calibrate your chest pounding…Rustin has lost in the first round 2 of the last 3 years while NP won D1 two of the last 3 years and went to the state championship game.

It’s not about how you start, it’s about how you finish! Nothing from August 31 to today matters.

It’s good to be passionate, better to be realistic.

  3. Just curious about this D1 debate. I see that football fan has Rustin/Pennsbury in the semis. Not NP because of their poor schedule. Fair enough. Let me then ask, what was so great about Rustin’s schedule? Aside from Unionville, 34-20, who else have they played that will be competing in the AAAA playoffs?

  4. @joker1 that was 3 years ago. NP was a better team then rustin going into that game. everyone knew that. also NP and rustin are in the same side of the bracket would play in semifinals but wont see that matchup because NP wont beat pennsbury. Rustin vs Pennsbury will be the semifinal in that bracket would of been Rustin vs Coatesville if worley was not injured. Also NP has been doing what they are doing because they had a bad D1 schedule besides the cb west game who is a good team but not great

  5. @ Jim B,

That would be a fair approach and would at least give a more competitive match up deeper into the playoffs.
I still believe, under .500 should not get you into the playoffs.

  6. @ Football fan…

You clearly just looking for an argument, I was merely stating what they have been doing in a few games I saw and not making predictions. I was not talking about Rustin. But since you brought it up….. How did that work out for you 3 years ago when NP went into your house as a 11 seed?

Rustin has a really good team, they are ranked #1 and I’m in any way trying to take that away from them.

You should worry about your side of the bracket before you go predict what Rustin’s D will do to anybody.

The best part is the kids play the games and you get to watch and blog about it and make predictions based on emotion.

  7. @joker1 i hope your not talking about rustin when you said there are 3-4 teams NP would beat easily. that would be laughable and false. rustin too big up front on both sides of the ball NP would get pushed around. those 200-300 rushing yards would be more like 100 tops against rustins D. just hope you werent talking about them in that statement

  8. @ Tank

My posts from September supported Coatseville, and I totally agree about the impact not having Worley will have, he was that good.

You can argue points versus common opponents, time of day, full moon or no moon. My point about their schedule is valid.

They play Friday night and may the best team that night win.

  9. @RedRaider
They are running the ball very well right now. During the 3 early loses they couldn’t run and you know you can throw if you can’t run, so they didn’t do much.

They don’t throw for yards, they throw to keep you honest or to beat you if your cheating into the box. They can throw deep balls, and are very efficient when they choose to throw.

If Coatseville plays their LBs close to the line they will get burnt for long runs.

Both sides have real good line play with big players, and will be fun to watch.

There D is better then you saw in that game.

  10. @Dave,
I don’t care if you throw 100 brackets up there. I don’t even know if that’s what the complaint is. Judging from the source, it wouldn’t be far fetched that that’s the issue.

  11. @ mark d; if Prep beats AH, they come to Crispin, which will be rockin and packed with bulldog fans. Berwick knows Prep has a great defense, they have scouted them many times this year, but Berwick has great defense also. Key to game can Prep move the ball against bulldogs, and can Berwick stop rb Marino? Berwick has a lot of playmakers, cant key on one player. Coach Curry will find mismatches and find a way to win game. Berwick is focused on winning d2 and going deep in state playoffs.

  12. Joker, you sort of answered my question — so I’m guessing NP runs the ball a lot — not great in the passing game? Anything is possible, but I would be shocked to see them get 200-300 rushing yards. I guess you could say Coatesville’s schedule was somewhat weak (who thought D-East would not be very good), but Coatesville had a bigger victory over the only common opponent and Central Dauphin East is an AAAA playoff team. Henderson and Bishop Shanahan are too (yes, I know at the AAA level — but Henderson is a good team). Moreover, NP got blown out when considering the tough part of their schedule. Any way, I just watched the NP and Souderton game, the NP offense does look good, but their defense was not impressive. It might come down to turnovers (or bad calls :)). The bottom line is that the question will be answered Friday night on the field.

  13. @ Mika:

Not being the most computer savvy person in the world, how do I ” clear the cache” ?

    @ RedRaider:

NP does not have much of a passing game ( if any), but can run the ball fairly well. So if C’ville forte is run defense, should be a helluva game

  14. tsaf77
D4 AAA is a joke. They have 6 teams, and 4 of those teams make the district playoffs. D2 has 15 AAA teams, and only 4 make districts. Totally unfair. The EC AAA bracket has better teams then the D4 AAA district tourney.

I think the PIAA should make a AAA D2/D4 subregionbal, much like they do in AAAA with D2,D4(Williamsport) and D11.

  15. @joker1 I disagree Coatesville’s schedule was weak. True injuries happen but take any dynamic two way player like Worley off any roster and it makes a huge impact especially at the hs level.
You can also look at it like when Coatesville was healthy they beat CB South by 30+ points and NP only beat South by 7. And NP hasn’t exactly played the strongest D1 schedule. At the end of the day it’s all about match-ups and adjustments.

Coatesville played like kids with no hope last week. Either they learn from it or they are going to get beat badly this week.

  16. @ RedRaider…

You can judge your defense after the NP game. I think Coatseville a schedule is weak, they just got beat by the only playoff team on there schedule.

North Penn started off on the wrong side of the win column early, but has been humming since week 4. They have several ground weapons and have been putting up 200 to 300+ yards on the ground per game.

I believe they will need #3 back to have a chance.

  17. @Dave,
A, AA, AAA, and AAAA brackets are clearly visible on the right side of the screen, on the home page. Here is what I think is the problem. The Catholic league has their own bracket posted also. I think it’s more of a, “why did they get their individual bracket posted, and D1 didn’t”? That’s just a guess, but it’s the only thing I can think of, as to why you have been getting your stones busted all week. There are no problems with the brackets being viewed, updated, or anything else.

  18. @Ron sure Berwick going to get a shot at D11 i think a couple of teams from the Lackawanna conference might have something to say about that.Dont sleep on Scranton Prep they are very big and quick up frount, said it before Prep hasnt seen a offence like Berwick but Berwick hasnt seen a defence like Preps, should be fun
Up set special Scranton over Stroudsburge

  19. First Round D1 predictions for fun. My disclaimer is I have only seen a few of the teams play so there is no real science behind this, it’s just for kicks and discussion.
    Just listing winners with seeds

    1 Garnet Valley
    8 Abington
    4 Neshaminy
    12 Spring-Ford
    2 WC Rustin
    7 CB West
    3 Pennsbury
    11 North Penn

    * I think the most interesting games of rd 1 are Neshaminy vs Unionville, Rustin vs Perk Valley, and Upper Darby vs Pennsbury.

  20. Does Coatesville have a chance if they get their quarterback (Young) in the lineup, or is he still out? (Although the backup had some drops to deal with). Coatesville’s offense looked bad against D-town West, but they still have one of the better defenses I’ve seen that can turn a game around. Does North Penn have a good passing game?, because I doubt they will be able to run on them.
