NP is definitely the favorite going into this game if they do end up playing. Coatesville most likely loses unless the coach can somehow rally the troops. They played yesterday like they lost all hopes of a deep playoff run. Rustin didn’t play Coatesville because they are in Che’s-mont American, and Coatesville and D West are Che’s-Mont National. The Ches-mont just started scheduling mandatory crossover games this year. Rustin plays the other two West Chester Schools every year (both national) and they played Downingtown East who were supposed to be good before the season. Rustin’s schedule is not as bad as it looks. There were some good teams in the Chesmont this season, Rustin just played outstanding mistake free football. If Neshaminy plays Unionville, they are not to be taken lightly . I

There is no clear cut favorite in D1, definitely going to be interesting!

You clearly do not understand the whole point of my rant on the PIAA. Yes, IC does belong as an example along with all the other teams in districts that do not have to play at least 5 PIAA playoff games to reach the final.
Last time I mention Thanksgiving. It is a choice, bud. They chose to play a game on that weekend which is great for the school/community. It does not resolve the PIAA issue. They still have BYE week. They can play whom ever they choose in that game, starters, 2nd string, doesn’t matter. They cannot be ELIMINATED from losing that game. Therefore it is a bye with a choice to play.
There are teams playing that weekend that will be eliminated from the PIAA playoffs however.
As I had also stated, there are teams from other districts that will play 3 games over Thanksgiving week because they do not have a BYE. Again, their choice to play the T-Day game but it will be a strain to play 3 games in 8 days.

  3. @Joker1,
See my comment from 10/31 about somebody wearing flip-flops. Agree with you 100%!

I feel bad for Worley, met him a few times and is a really nice and mannerly kid. Don’t want to see anybody get hurt, but it sucks when it happens to a kid that is as good a person as he is a football player. Now for the negative about Worley getting hurt. Coatesville wasn’t that great this year. Now all of these C-ville chest thumpers will make the injury the #1 excuse why they lose. It’s a team game, win and lose as a team. No excuses, please!!!!!!!!!

Here’s the thing with Perk Valley and Upper Darby. I have PV 14th with 1190 points. I have UD 15th, tie in points 1180 with Council Rock North. But UD has an 8-2 record and CRN is 7-3, so even with the same points UD is 15; CRN 16. Now, UD has a shot at 20 extra power points with games today. Already mentioned was the 10 from a Bonner-Prendie win as somewhat doubtful. But they also have Marple-Newtown (2-7) playing Lower Merion (0-8). UD did not play Lower merion. A Marple-Newtown win would put UD and PV tie at 1190 and I do not have a clue of who has the tie breaker between PV and UD for the 14th-15th final position.

  5. @Joker1, Buddy has been a NP fan on here longer than you’ve been around.

Also, check your strengths of schedule; you have Pennsbury playing a “great schedule”? Just kidding right? Garnet Valley schedule is suspect also.

None of it matters now, it will all play out on the field.

  6. @ central league,

okay i was miss informed either way rustin wont lose to either team. i agree with buddy that rustin and pennsbury are playing the best right now and could possibly meet in the semifinals would be a great game. Rustin schedule is not their fauly either they are in chesmont american division which has weak teams but dont let that fool you they can play with anybody. unionville is a good team and rustin beat them fairly easy. District one is always the hardest to predict come playoff time going to be a great 4 weeks

  7. @Buddy

Rustin got passed this week in the point race because their game was vs Octorara, a 3A team with only 1 win. Just the way their schedule worked out.

  8. @ Joker1:

The only one that played a tough schedule through out the season was Pennsbury.
North Penn’s was only very tough the first 3 games, after that it was a rather easy schedule.

GV & Rustin schedules weren’t that impressive. It’s not GV’s fault , it’s that league. Not sure why Rustin didn’t have C’ville or D-west on their schedule.

Having said that, Rustin & Pennsbury are real hot. Will be tough to beat.

    Tank:

Yeah, fell bad for C’ville ( but not too bad, since they face my team in 1st round). Worley was most of the offense. NP would absolutely not beat them if he was playing. Hell, it’ll be tough for NP to win even without him.

  9. @Football Fan,

that’s not what was said on the 1440 WNPV radio last night. They said the only shot Darby has at getting the #14 seed is if Bonner beats O’Hara today, which is highly unlikely.

  10. @joker1 Coatesville lost their best player last week and one of the best players in the state at CB and HB in Daquan Worley . . Thay were also playing without their Starting QB. QB may be back for the playoffs but Worley is ou for the season.

  11. @Tank… Rustin, Pennsbury, GV, NP are playing the best ball of the 16 right now. They all played great schedules!
Now it’s who can execute the best and win the turnover game. It will be a great 4 weeks of district play.

  12. What?! No Catasauqua talk?! I would have thought the Imhotep fans would be all over the fact that Catty lost last night.

  13. Joker1:
Do you usually make things up?
I’ve been a NP fan since I been on this site gomer! ( check w/ Jive & OL )
Yep, I said they be 5 & 5 this year ( wound up 7 & 3, not far off), but never said take 4 years to re-build.
    Tank:

NP has a chance only because Worley is out.
Don’t know how Rustin didn’t get #1 seed?
But your right,I say they are on a mission.

  14. One seed in District 1 should go to Rustin or Garnet Valley. I thought Coatesville would have a tough game this week vs D-West regardless even with Worley. D West is small but tough. Upper Darby looks like a tough sleeper in the 1st rd. They have not lost since the beginning of the season and one of their 2 losses came from Garnet Valley by 7. It’s going to be an interesting playoff. North Penn looks to be ready just in time as usual. I think Rustin is on a mission. Who you got?

  15. I see Buddy announces that his team is North Penn!!! (Funny how that worked out) Check out your posts from mid September Buddy… Yea… The one where you sold them for a bag of coal, said they would be .500 at best and that it would take 4 years to rebuild the program. News flash!!!! Those kids are in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade now! I’ll check back in 2018.

Raider fan said North Penn was a has-been and the Raiders were the new “Sheriff ” in town.

Oops….. Coatseville got Smacked by the only team on their schedule that made the playoffs !!!!

Should be a hell of a game next Friday between 2 good teams….

  16. District 1 AAAA Seeds

    #16 CR North @ #1 Garnet Valley
    #9 Upper Dublin @ #8 Abington

    #12 Spring-Ford @ #5 Downingtown West
    #13 Unionville @ #4 Neshaminy

    ——————————-

    #11 North Penn @ #6 Coatesville
    #14 Perkiomen Valley @ #3 Pennsbury

    #10 Plymouth-Whitemarsh @ #7 CB West
#15 Upper Darby @ #2 West Chester Rustin

  17. Wow, all of a sudden D1 looks interesting, Coatesville gets smacked, Neshaminy crushed, Rustin wins big, playoffs should be interesting with some shuffling of the standings.

Meanwhile, congrats to Fleetwood for first winning season ever (6-4). Wilson WL goes 10-0 after replacing 19 starters and now 42 straight league wins, and Berks Catholic sees first 10-0 season, there is life outside of D1 and D12.

  18. @Pub School, all my points were simply points of comparison intended to show GV in a more realistic light. After all, you were the one telling others they knew nothing because they didn’t quite buy what you are selling. No offense intended; GV has a nice team, may do things but as of today are largely unproven.

BTW was 13th out of the likely 16 D1 playoff teams

  19. @tsaf

Yes, IC played 7 games out of their 8 game regular season schedule. They would have had more games if not two 2A schools did not close due to a budget strap city. Also, 3 teams dropped them off their schedule from 2012. And again, no one accepted their invite to play on that bye week. But let the games began… It’s a mute point because IC does not have a bye in the 2013 playoff run nor did they have a bye in 2012.. The Thanksgiving game is what it is, a game, and by your perspective its a good point because someone can get hurt and there is no time to rest players.. So IC shouldn’t be used in your example nor should any D12 team because we play on Thanksgiving and since its a game, its no bye because they are playing. Check your Maxpreps site and see if they played their starters at last year’s Thanksgiving game; if so, your point holds no water..

  20. @Facts

Splash? Wow, do you even realize you are responding to someone else who made that question.
That is not my question, bud. Nice try though.

Did you count IC’s games without the forfeit? It is 7, bud. Look for yourself. The 2nd game with future started the Pub playoffs. http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/imhotep-charter-panthers-%28philadelphia,pa%29/football/schedule.htm

The main issue wasn’t even about IC, it was about PIAA playoffs, don’t get so defensive.

    @ Jive

I agree with you about the leagues. Why have them. I would schedule cupcakes and play independent because that would guarantee that my team would make playoffs every year with a better quality opponent staying home. Something needs to be done with having league champs as automatic entries. Or just don’t have leagues.

  21. @steve

Agree with your comments. We will see next week who is legit and who isn’t. It happens every year.

OL Coach- good points. Why does everything have to compare to the PCL?? Really don’t care how a team in D1 would rank in the PCL. They don’t play in the PCL. #13 out of 44 teams in winning % is not that bad. Top third. Not like they are in the bottom third.

Yes. Their league has AAA teams. Strath Haven is down. Other Leagues in D1 (chesmont, pac-10, etc) also play AAA schools. Trust me, AAAA schools would rather play AAAA schools but the Leagues are geographical. You play who is on your schedule. Simple.

Lastly, didn’t LS play AA west catholic last week?? A very good AA school? And OHara early in the year? There are good AAA schools and good AA schools. Well, O’Hara isn’t that good. IMHO. LOL.

Is what it is. Not a GV fan but respect their program. They are not LaSalle and don’t have to be. They are GV and they have a good football program. That’s all I’m saying..
