  1. @ football fan

Your Rustin team is very good but watch what you wish for.Worley and Burke play at complete different level.Do not compare games Coatesville was everybody’s Super Bowl this year.9 starters back on D.Ask Dtown East you can get beat any week including Rustin and the Ville.1 thru 16 can beat anybody any week.It will be very hard for Coatesville to repeat or anybody else to win 4 tough games. But they do have the talent to make the run. They are just HIGH SCHOOL KIDS anything can happen. Good Luck to Rustin remember it is a long 4 weeks v.s. good teams.

  2. @jive turkey. Abington or Scranton Prep might have something to say before Berwick makes the states. But i have to agree i dont think a team from d2 will win the east.

  3. Can someone please explain how District 1/12 AA works? There are 13 total teams and it appears 8 get to go to the dance. How did Future play Imhotep? Did they play up in AA? Who do these schools play Nov. 8th/9th? District 1 which only has 3 AA schools?
Not that it matters, as Imhotep should route this whole District 1 or 12, but this is complete ridiculousness.

  4. IF Garnet Valley wins their final regular season game, 6 of their 10 victories will have come against teams with winning records. Who else would be able to say that?

    1.Unionville currently 7-2
    2.Upper Darby currently 7-2
    3.Penncrest currently 7-2
    4.Ridley currently 6-3
    5.Conestoga currently 6-3
    6.Haverford Twp currently 5-3

  5. I’m seeing posts about the travesty of Ryan not making the playoffs. Yes, Ryan beat Wood. Wood is a AAA team and has no bearing whatsoever on Ryan’s playoff chances. Yes, Ryan beat Prep. At the time of the Prep game, that game had absolutely zero playoff ramifications. Prep had the #1 seed locked, and even if Ryan won by 100, they had no chance at making the playoffs. That may be the reason Prep’s backup QB threw 17 passes in that game. That may be the reason Preps leading rusher only carried the ball 6 times in that game. That may be the reason Preps freshman running back had his most carries in a game since week 1. Ryan went 1-3 in league play, and lost to 1-3 Roman for the #4 seed. As for the giant killer thing? Ryan, over the past 5 years, is 2-20 in league play. Lets not make a mountain out of a mole hill.

  6. How is Wood ranked in the top 10??…moreover, how can they be ranked above teams that have beaten teams they’ve lost to?
Wood has a ’90s CBW, ’00s SJP mentality, it’s throwback Big 10 football. Run between and off tackle until they stop it, the inferior teams can’t. Force them to throw, different story, the forward pass and passing schemes are horrid at best. i.e. 2nd half SJP, A.R., 2nd half McDevitt.
..of course, the problem for most teams is getting them to throw. IMHO.

  7. @chief raider,
stop with the coatesville talk they arent even the best team in ches-mont. Rustin is a better team with better wins against common opponets. they ran over henderson whyll coatesville struggled. So watch what you say because coatesville isnt what you think they are. also coatesville should not be #1 in the big school rankings they are overrated

  8. @ Major;

That’s a shame. Ryan, the giant killer, not in playoffs. But I’m guessing LC is, that’s Ironic.
LS/Prep again eh. same ol same ol.

    @ RRMark;

If catty makes it deep into playoffs, will they still play Northampton on T-day? ala Easton/P-burg.

    @ Tank:

Agree. I see Rustin as the team, especially in the Chesmont. I don’t think C’ville will get past them if they meet.
Can Garnet Valley be for real?

  9. Sorry Buddy but you will have to save your joy in seeing LaSalle lose for another game. Archbishop Ryan finished 5th in the PCL AAAA division and did not make the playoffs.

  10. @tsaf77

Thanks for the kind words. In the vein you mention I am currently on an exhaustive study of the past 25 state championships 1988 through 2012. There have been 98 teams smell Hershey as you mentioned. That is 17% of the current 579 teams listed as playing this season. I am tearing apart the championships for all kinds of statistics and comparisons. I am thinking of asking David Mika if I could run my findings as part of the 2014 thread when it starts in January to give us all something to chew on in the lien months until HSF August 2014.

  11. It’s nice to see Archbishop Ryan showing everyone that the PCL is not only & always a 2 horse race.
Maybe they’ll get to play LS again & make it a trifecta.

  12. @ Chief Raider
Don’t worry, the bye week will help whatever D12 school moves on into the PIAA playoffs. They will be more than prepared to play the D1 school that wins.

  13. @ Chief Raider- you have a good team!!! But here is a perspective view!!!! Your teams opponents are 35 wins to 46 losses and NO ONE you played is going to the playoffs.!!! Where a team like North Penn (say what you want ) opponents have 49 wins and 31 losses and 6 teams they played have winning records and 5 of their opponents are playoff bound. Good luck in 2 weeks!

  14. I’m a D1 fan chief Raider but Cotesville doesn’t see the caliber of teams that St Joes prep has played this year. Not only that Coatesville may not even be the best team in the Che’s-mont. Rustin is undefeated as well and looks like Rustin played a lot better against common opponents. Raiders D is great but without Hunt and Boggs this year I doubt they make the same kind of run as last year

  15. @D2Fan
Old Forge or Dunmore will have their chance against SCA in the playoffs. It looks like this SCA team is stronger than last years. It will make for an interesting game.

  16. @ Kmac
You made a great point about High School Football and the focus being placed so greatly on the PIAA Championship. The majority of the 579 schools in PA do not have a chance to ever smell Hershey even with their best teams. Districts 7, 1 and now 12 have been and will be heavily represented in the PIAA Championships. It is also only a few schools in those Districts that have shown overwhelming success.
If you really look into it, District 7, with all the schools it has, has frequent repeaters. District 12 has had 2 schools in AAAA and one in AAA. It will get its second representative in AA this year with IC. It won’t have a representative in class A until a strong coach realizes they can recruit for one of their 5 class A schools. That is why SCA has dominated for so long.

  17. D11 man…

Yup, Northampton isn’t going to roll over by any means. And I imagine it will be an adjustment for both teams playing at an unfamiliar Muhlenburg College this year. Catty will, as usual, play it safe with Burton especially on defense. Stopay too because of his knee. And if they have any kind of lead, it will be Bradley with most of the first string o-line until the game is secured. This is still a game for the seniors and pride, so I don’t see either team subbing wholesale at all. Catty has to be smart, of course. But they don’t have a whole lot of depth on the bench. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

  18. D2Fan: We don’t determine which games are covered. All of our reporters, both in the east and west site, are volunteers. They attend the games they wish to see and file their stories. We at EasternPAFootball.com and WesternPAFootball.net are just grateful that we have great volunteers to write for us. If you know of anyone from Dunmore or Old Forge who would like to cover games for us please let us know. Thanks, Billy.

  19. How is the Southern Columbia game one of the games of the week…every week. I know they are talented, but they are hardly being challenged to that caliber of opponent every week. Dunmore and Old Forge are both better

  20. @RRMark

that is a good point my nephew plays for northampton who plays catty on thanksgiving and they have yet to win a game in thr lvc they do have some talent and like you said they will have nothing to lose. do you think if its a somewhat close game at say halftime catty will pull their starters in preparation for their game 2 days later? or will they play it out risking fatigue and injury of their big time players?

  21. well well well looks like we found out at St Joes is not who we thought they were.
Once again you will RESPECT the Coatesville Red Raiders. Undefeated and unbeaten.

  22. personally, I’d like to see ya’ll move these conversations to the forum located here: found in the “extras” column in the upper right corner of this site….would be able to follow the separate conversations better…
