  1. Does anyone know where I can get the ranking for the playoffs if they started this week and what teams are in it. looking for info on [ AAAA and AAA ] Teams Thanks football fans…..

  2. @ PCL AAAA Guy
You make good points about the importance of Thanksgiving Day games. That should however not trump the PIAA State Playoffs. Easton plays P-burg every year, and when they make the state playoffs, they play their Thanksgiving Day game and a playoff game 2 days later. So, this should not be an issue. Some of the schools in D12 and other districts don’t always play on Thanksgiving. All schools in the PIAA should have to play the same amount of games to reach the final, it is that simple and fair.
The point made about having a bye week and coaches upset about that is a farce. Any team would take a bye week in the state playoffs. No chance of injury or more importantly, having the chance to be eliminated. As long as you play a game, you can be eliminated. You can’t be eliminated with a bye week. It is not fair, just saying. Every team in the state championships should have a record that equals 15 games being played previously. Not 14 or for some schools, 13 or 12.

  3. @ RRMark;

    Well said.

Jive & O L need to take note for sure.

Of course, I’ll get a condescending post about this post now:)

  4. Chill, you silly philly phillies… Somebody asked for any upset picks and I threw that out there for fun. It’s always fun to root for an underdog. Who knows, maybe hotep prep will all eat some bad hoagies and get food poisoning, lol. But such hate on me by “grown men” who get so upset over somebody picking against their team. Silly

  5. @ jive All though sjp and tep played a scrimmage game and the results are mmeaningless.I think Tep by a touch down over sjp. I watch both teams play Lasalle and tep would dominate sjp. Thats just my thought on the matter any giving Saturday

  6. Coatesville barely beat wc Henderson last night. I can’t tell if they are just on cruise control, or their offense just isn’t anywhere close to last year. I’m thinking it has more to do with the ladder. They lost some big pieces last year though their defense is still great. Henderson is not a bad team at all though and have always played Coatesville tough. Is Coatesville the best team in the Che’s-mont? I can’t say that for sure. WC Rustin and Downingtown West are looking real good right now and the ville has put up two subpar efforts against Downingtown East and WC Henderson.

  7. WC Rustin handled Unionville rather easily last night. I thought it would be a closer game. Unionville is big and they probably have the best QB that most people don’t know about, but they just didnt have the athletes to hold up. Rustin’s defense is highly underrated. The playoffs are going to be interesting. Unionville’s only 2 losses are to Garnet Valley and Rustin. They have 2 tough games left but if they get in the playoffs they will not be an easy out.

  8. Chesmont schools no longer have the Thanksgiving day games and it was tradition as well. Cut the bye , even the playing field

  9. D12 either needs to get rid of the Thanksgiving day games or play that Saturday in the playoffs it’s that simple. They cannot continue to get a bye. The argument is awful “we start our playoffs a week earlier” BS, start them in week 11 and play 16 weeks 10 reg season and 6 playoff to win a state title. Not the crap they get away with.

  10. Good luck to all the teams playing this weekend. Hopefully the games are compititive and no one gets injured. Got to love high school football.

  11. A lot of these D12 Thanksgiving games are deeply steeped in tradition. Not to mention they are money makers for the schools involved. Most people may not attend a regular season or post season game but they show up every morning on Thanksgiving supporting their school. Just to do way with these games is unacceptable. Proceeds from Judge/Lincoln go to fund veterans and the local memorial of the Vietnam war. I’m sure there are other causes that benefit from the many D12 games played on Thanksgiving.

  12. @Chuckie Chest Thumper; relax first and read your own post man.

Gateway for years has been loaded with D1 college recruits (far more than Cville)and they’ve never sniffed Hershey recently! You don’t win state championships on paper and you don’t win them on college recruiting message boards.

Somebody’s father played at Temple or in the NFL? Really? Who cares, that doesn’t win championships either. I have to admit, the part mentioning the NFL, Prep and LaSalle really didn’t translate to English all that well.

You have such a great return game that nobody will kick to your returner? Just ponder that a minute; ok, what good is any return game if it can just be taken out of the game by any half decent coach? If nobody kicks to the kid now, do you think they’ll suddenly think it’s a great idea to kick to him in the playoffs?

It’s clear you really haven’t seen anyone THIS YEAR other than who Cville has played; yet, you know everything about all these other teams. Interesting.

Like I said, Cville is a difficult team for anyone outside of Cville to root for thanks to their fans.

    Enjoy your weekend also!

  13. If D12 is in the eastern final, they will host the championship game; it will not be at Villanova nor Lincoln Financial.

Do we have to deal with this every, single year?

  14. Phillyboy, speak to any coach whose team is playing well which we can assume all playoff teams are. Not one of them will tell you they want a week off at that point in the schedule; it’s actually quite a disadvantage.

  15. @That Guy Philly
Ah, that’s my bad, didn’t even realize who they play this week. I’m pretty sure ???? was referring to St Joe’s though because this will be their first meeting with Prep Charter.
Roman vs LaSalle tonight, anybody have a guess? I’m gonna go with 20-7 LaSalle.

  16. @ O L

Anybody can beat anybody on any day.On paper they returned Both corners are D1. Jr. S has 10 D1 offers other S is D1aa, Lb is D1,other 3 Lb are D1aa,Nose was 1st team all state last year, and is a all state wrestler. On O they Avg. 6’3 285 upfront.T is rated top 15 and G is top 8 in state. two TE 6’4 240 both are great athletes. aall state RB 2solid WR. just a questionable soph. QB who is young but is a good athlete his father played at Temple And the NFL.was at Prep and La Salle not as good as the ville BUT can beat them on any given day.Have not seen Pennsbury what I have heard are pretty good and Nes.Ville beat them pretty good last year.they are alittle small, De is overrated. The BIG difference then last year team The return game Nobody will kick to Worley. And last year punt return was ridicules.Anybody can beat anybody on any given day. have a great weekend!!! Watch out for Rustin!!!

In response to your comment on wins for Coatesville, it is 644 through the 2012 season. An exact tie with Ridley at that point. Tie for 15th in the state in total wins. Source PA Football News 2013 Resource Guide.

  18. Somebody made mention of the PCL’s bye week. It’s the truth, it’s an absolute injustice. Meanwhile D1 and D11 are banging each other and the D12 champ saunters into the next round after having chilled for a couple of weeks. The PIAA should not allow this. If it’s done to accommodate the Thanksgiving games, then tough cookie. Either skip the Thanksgiving games or do it like Easton and play again a couple days later. Or, if it has nothing to do with the Thanksgiving games, then there is an easy solution: simply have the bye week after the regular season but before the playoffs begin.

  19. @??????
Stop! Imhotep scrimmaged Prep in September, they didn’t beat them by 2 TD’s. Look, I like Imhotep’s team and they looked pretty good against LaSalle. However, without Franklin and with Heron not being 100% that day, it could have been a much different game. We all saw what Prep did to LaSalle. Did Martin run all over Tep in the scrimmage? Of course not, you don’t put your QB in harms way in a scrimmage. His legs are a huge part of their offense. Should Tep win the AA title? I think so. But, if a real game were to be played with Prep, I think you would be kind of disappointed. Just my opinion, and in D12 those opinions have been pretty good so far.

  20. Chest pounding Chuck, who says Cville is the most talented team in the east, you? many times have you seen Prep, Imhotep, Wood, Neshaminy, Pennsbury, Easton, Parkland etc. play in person? I’m going to venture a guess and say none.

How can you make such a declarative statement without facts? It will all work out on the field; have to share though, Cville fans make it difficult tto rroot for them.

  21. Put in a comment 22 hours ago. Nothing nasty, nothing disparaging, absolutely sarcastic. I find it kind of odd that everybody (myself included) was permitted to bombard Imhotep with negative comments. All of the D1 contingent can bombard the Catholic League with negative comments. However, anything sarcastic or negative towards anybody outside of the city will not be permitted. What have I made, about 50-60 comments, maybe more? All but 4 got through. One on the ongoing Southern Columbia tribute on this site. Not this thread, but they have an article on every game and the 50 yr tribute. 2 on Berwick’s run up the points game (the comments on Imhotep’s run up on Future were posted in minutes). And now a funny comment on the excuses that have already started about D12 and their “bye week”. Anybody else seeing it this way, or is it just me?
