  1. Ok, let me try this again without making a rivalry joke. Probably in bad taste after the sad events that took place this weekend down at Gratz.
Facts, I’m not trying to argue or be a jerk. I am just one of them “it is what it is” kind of guys. Situations are never as great as supporters say, and they are never as bad as haters say. I have supported Imhotep against some comments, and I have debunked some others. I do enjoy watching them play. My kid has been in some camps with some of their players, not a single bad thing to say about any of them, nice kids. I try to stay neutral, and call things like I see them. I would love to tailgate and shoot the breeze with you, come state playoff time we should do it for sure. This week I’m gonna hit a neighborhood rivalry game of Judge vs Ryan.

  2. Last post.
    @tsaf77
Every team has HUDL I believe. All you need to operate HUDL is a camcorder and a IPad. Of course the school has projectors like all schools. Wow my man, you are really reaching for dirt. Do you make it to a IC game? Do you see how they pack the house? Do you understand they all paid to get in? I did tell you this is an American story that’s still being told. Ask yourself why do you have a problem with their success. Then ask yourself why are you expecting them to lack integrity. You will never do that to Prep, Roman or LaSalle.. Ask yourself why and have a mirror moment to get your answer. Stay safe Buddy

  3. @ 17th & G

I totally agree but sometimes the success of kids need to be defended. I will not post on this anymore unless forced to do so..

    @tsaf77
I agree, it was immature for me to say what I said about you not coaching or playing before.. I don’t know you so I was wrong for that.
I did agree with you if you comprehend my post, I said coaching Xs and Os is easy with talent.
I don’t know the price of uniforms but I do know Imhotep is self funded. Very self funded through fund raising and ticket/concession sales. Those Nike uniforms are four years old based on Ted Silary pictures. Uniforms are not as expensive as you stated when brought in bunk. I do know this, the more we talk about them, the more people want to see them; which adds to the funding. But there are no hand-outs, street agents, millionaire fathers, or Gates donations. Everything is self funded. But let’s leave the kids alone and talk football.

  4. Facts, I’m not trying to be a jerk. I am just one of them “it is what it is” kind of people. Nothing is as good as supporters say, and never as bad as the haters say. I’ve defended and debunked Imhotep at different times. I actually enjoy watching Imhotep play. My kid went to camp with a few of their players, nice kids. I try to stay neutral, except for Wood, not a Wood fan at all. I’d love to tailgate with you, come state playoff time we’ll do it for sure. This weeks game, for me, is gonna be Judge vs Ryan. I think this is a bitter rivalry game. Nothing like watching kids from the mean streets of the greater Northeast drinking “what appears to be water”, calling each other names, and having a slap fight.

  5. @ Mark D

Doug doesn’t want to remember the outcome of that Valley View/Lakeland game from 82. Doug also didn’t update me on Lakeland in the 1990’s. No one is stating that Lakeland has a bad program, but they are not a powerhouse every year because they follow the rules and football doesn’t control the school. Mostly all the schools in District 2 run that way though. That is why it is unfamiliar for me to hear how “every school gets a few transfers every year.” That is a rarity in our district. Especially a D1 athlete.

  6. And don’t you dare question the fine men who established ECA to provide homeless, underprivileged top Div. 1 football recruits a team. They’ve suffered hardships this past year too.

——Eastern Christian has no football facility, either, so the team lifts weights at the Elkton YMCA and practices on an adjacent, pebble-pocked field without yard lines between the goal posts. The field, bordered by a barn and a grain silo, appears to be an abandoned farm. The final preseason practice was set for the Y two days before the opener, but a summer camp needed the space, so Eastern Christian moved to a park across the nearby Delaware border. It, too, did not have yard lines. At six the next morning, the team was on a bus for Johnston. The trip took more than 12 hours, and the air-conditioning broke along the way. Eastern Christian spent the night in nearby Edgefield and arrived at the stadium 14 minutes before kickoff, behind a coach wearing a straw hat and sunglasses, and chewing what looked like a stick.——

  7. Eastern Christian Academy was established just last year and has mostly on-line courses. 54 students… 46 are boys… big boys, and 46 are on the football team. Fine with me if teams like Hotep have a spot to fill and want to test themselves against a team like that. If they were in PA, I guess the PIAA would put them in class A… ? And their fans would vehemently claim it was fair since all the public and parochial A teams could transfer in great football players too if they wanted. Maybe even recruit them from several youth leagues.

  8. Attempt # 3 to post:

    @ Facts
Again, stellar display of maturity with a statement of “I agree, I don’t think you played this game before, nor did you ever coached.” You clearly did not comprehend the original statement which I previously made over 2 times so I am not going to spend any more time on trying to break it down for you. You simply do not want to understand it.
You are obviously one of those people who only looks at the facts that supports your statements and avoids those that do not. Otherwise you would have recognized that I clearly meant Discipline towards football play.
I have said numerous times that the IC kids and staff have a great program going, yet you nit pick any little thing I say that gives a flaw to IC.
I like to hear stories like the one you have posted about IC. It is a nice thing. Now don’t take this the wrong way, but like I stated before Nike uniforms run at over $120 for jersey and pants. Imhotep wears 3 colors that are Nike and suit over 70. To my calculations, that cost is over $20,000 for uniforms. Lets not even get into the cost of equipment because you would know that you can’t just use donated equipment, it has to be re-certified every year. Translates to not cheap. Just giving you some Facts. Don’t preach poverty when your wearing a swoosh. There are many schools in PA that deal with low SES (socioeconomic-status) situations. The school district I teach at is over 30% low SES. I know Philly’s situation is worse as I have relatives in their education systems and I also happen to know the Charter route is not the same as the public route for funding. Charter has advantages that public doesn’t. It might explain the Nike uniforms unless of course you have large boosters in a low SES area. By the way HUDL isn’t cheap either, as the program runs about $1,200 a year and IC has HUDL as I see their school come up on my own account. They would also require a film room, computer access and projector to use it. Not cheap.
You also have seen Jive’s data on PA Scores. Isn’t it funny that the Northeast HS you apparently attended scored higher that IC. Go look up the Facts on PA Dept of Ed’s website.

    @ quite one

What a hypocritical statement you make towards Joe when you clearly support the Facts rant prior to, in support of trying to team up on me. Joe is only trying to explain to you something you already did not understand in the first place like the Facts.
I guess I have to realize that I am speaking with two adolescents, especially with comments like “You didn’t play before” or “You didn’t coach before” as your solid analysis began.

  9. Here in D2 looks like the playoffs are shaping up
AAAA Wyoming Valley West look like a lock for one of D2 spots and i like Scranton for the other
    AAA
Berwick looks like the top seed with Abington and Scranton Prep battling for the second seed this weekend, both should make the playoffs. The winner of Coughlin and Cestwood should be the final team
AA Carbondale and Lake Lehman look like locks with 4 or 5 teams still in it for the final 2 spots
    A
it going to come down to Dunmore and Old Forge great game the first time should be a real winner with a state playoff berth on the line

  10. Imhotep took an L from Eastern Christian of Maryland this past weekend. Was that a club team or an actual high school? Some of these private schools are an absolute joke. What is it with the fly-by-night schools? The star QB of Eastern Christian originally went to a school by the name of Red Lion Christian. It’s dubious if they still even have a program. Are these high schools with a football team or football teams with a high school?

  11. You know what Jive-Turkey, you are absolutely right. I was misinformed on the ranking status of ECA stating they were ranked #6 in the country instead of #6 in the state of Maryland. They are ranked #6 in the state of Maryland according Maryland’s media and Maxpreps. Can’t believe everything you’re told just like you couldn’t believe what you were told about the Rush kid and LaSalle. See, we are two peas of a pie.
The behind the story as to how Imhotep came to be was not even directed to you but you bit the worm. I copied and paste it here for Tsaf77 and you know what, THOSE ARE THE FACTS OF HOW THIS PROGRAM EVOLVED.. It’s a wonderful story Jive.
I also say thank you to Chaos for explaining there is no lottery system for kids 10th grade and above in charter schools. So I read that to say a kid can transfer to a charter school in the 10th through 12th grade without a lottery system.. Comprehension bro comprehension.. What game will you be attending this week? I like to talk face to face where clarity will not be misunderstood. I bring tailgate, you bring the convo. Let me know.

  12. @jive

They applied before imhotep blow up. When they had space to let kids come in. You probably didn’t know that imhotep was a A school at one time. When they had trailers as a class room. But once they built that new school imhotep didn’t have as many kids as they do now back 2 or 3 years ago when they applied to the school. That’s how they had gotten in so easy they needed to pull kids into the school moving from a trailer type school that was holding about 300 kids to a new school that holds about 500 to 600 now

  13. @Jive
Exactly. My other point did not make it through but if you also look IC SAT’s are averaging some of the lowest scores in PA. Yet, 98% are going to 2 and 4 yr colleges. Data seems impossible yet that is IC’s report based on student survey. The Nike uniforms they wear cast over $20,000 for 3 colors black, red and white. Hard to preach poverty when you wear the swoosh.
IC is a good program with some great athletes but lets not go all Rags to riches ESPN 30 for 30 here.

  14. @Doug D ok if you want to play in the past . yes Lakeland did share the big 11 title in 82.People forget how tough of a conference that was, Lakeland Prep and Valley View all finshed 8and 2 Valley View won the playoff spot and won the Eastern conference. what was the score of the Valley View Lakeland game ??

  15. Facts,
Last week Imhotep was playing the #6 team in the country. When you got called on it, you said it was a misquote. Just for the record, that has nothing to do with a misquote. Misread? Maybe. Misinformed? Possibly. Exaggerated? Probably, but not a misquote.

Your next comment is a long advertisement for Imhotep, again with misinformation. You get called out on it and, low and behold, it’s not your comment, you copied it from someone else. You can throw anything you want out there. I couldn’t care less whether you say one truthful thing or not. Just seems kinda odd that you call yourself THE FACTS, and your comments are the farthest thing from.

Lastly, like I responded to ????. So, you are telling me that these kids were thrown out of a school and put into a charter school, ahead of kids on the lottery waiting list, because they could play football? Whether they are doing great or not, that is shameful. You say the Gamecock was the only one that came over on his own accord. Are you saying that these kids didn’t even have to apply to the school, that has a waiting list of close to 1000, and were just put on the roll? The minute they applied, is the minute they went to Imhotep on their own accord.

Every few posts you make, you throw an academic comment out there. I don’t really feel like getting into THE FACTS right now on that, I gotta go to work. Just some quick food for thought. 100% graduation rate, AWESOME!!! Problem is 49% are proficient in reading, and 28% proficient in math. This “school” is pushing kids through, and sending them out into the world without the basic skill of reading, or the skill of doing math, when they have their shoes on. Next time you wanna give me a “times yours”, I’ll see if I have time to really dig, and drop some more knowledge on you.

  16. @the quite on,
THANK YOU!!!!! Finally somebody gets it. Every school does it, OK, move on. I said it before, and I’ll say it again. Washington got a pass for years, Wood got a pass for years. Now people want to make an issue of, or deny, something that has been going on since the beginning of time.

  17. Being a Charter School teacher, I can tell you the process Jive. All Charter Schools have a selection process for incoming students but the lotteries held in every Pa Charter School is for 9th graders only. Each grade afterwards, from 10th to 12th, must be capped at a certain number. Charter schools must maintain this number for funding but not exceed it. So as a school loses students, it must replace those students with incoming transfer request. EVERY school is audited by the state for accuracy. So if a school loses students due to any reason, they can replace them with new students not exceeding the cap.

  18. who cares what school or what program the kids come from. I’m just tired of the holy then thou people who think their programs do the right thing. Im sure if a David Williams type player was available in any district ever your team he will be welcome.

  19. HEY TR , THANKS FOR POSTING BACK. YEA I WAS AT THAT GAME AND WAS ONE OF BEST ONES FOR ME THIS YEAR. NO MATTER WHAT COCALICO WILL BE GOOD IN THE PLAYOFFS AND THEY MAY MEET UP WITH THE BARONS AGAIN. ITS SUCKS THAT THIS SITE ONLY TALKS ABOUT PREP,CATHOLIC,OR JUST THE BIG SCHOOLS. BUT FOR ONE THING THIS IS THE BEST HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL WEB-SITE.. TALK TO YA LATER ,, GO BARONS

  20. @Jive,

Look Dude, I copied that comment from PaPreps because a poster claimed that Imhotep was like Eastern Christian David Sills; meaning they are privilege and have a lot of resources/funding and all IC kids are hand picked.. So that post was for him and I felt it may have relevance here.

The two kids you mention besides the Gamecock kid had unfortunate situations that forced them to change schools before the current coach was even thought of coming to IC. That happens to every catholic/private school in the city and is not a PIAA violation. Both kids got a second opportunity for redemption and both are doing well in college. So SIR, where did this poster lie?

    Time yours….

  21. @?????,
That’s fine, I understand stuff happens. However, we are talking about a charter school that has a lottery. So what you are saying is that “problem students, that were thrown out of a school”, get first dibs because they can play football? That is shameful!
    @ThatPhillyGuy
    I didn’t throw up the 2010 roster, did I?

  22. @phillyboy, nope Wilson’s streak is number 2 in PA. One of the Philly suburban schools is around 60 winning seasons straight, Ridley? Someone will have to help me on that one.
