  1. @Jive, check your records, both Goode and Chavis transfered into the school as 10th graders a full year and a half before the current coach came to the school. That makes it a bit of a stretch if you want to say they transferred over with the coach.

  2. @jive

All thoses kids that you named left west cause they had gotten kicked out expect for Dave. But I know this because I was there they where asking for apps and once try left west they went to the best pub team cause they was on scholarships there.

  3. Boxer13,Did you go to the Cocalico game ? Man,that was just like a playoff game.We got some redemption against Cocalico and Hempfield this year. Now we owe LS a little payback as well this Friday. Kind of amazing that Cocalico had mercy ruled 5 teams in a row with basically a running team. I thought Cocalico might be in trouble if you stopped the run,no small feat.

  4. @ blowaway, I could not agree with you more. I saw the downingtown east game, very sloppy performance. They have a good defense, but the offence needs work. There was no blocking for the run game and the passing game needs work. A concerned Coatesville graduate.

  5. So what do all you rabid PCL fans think of this weeks results.

Imhoptep may not be the best team the country has ever seen?

    Maybe Prep just get lucky?

One can now only conclude that Prep will destroy LaSalle?

C’mon boys, let’s hear some conclusions & excuses.

  6. MANHEIM CENTRAL WHO’S RANKED 7th COULD BEAT MOST OF THESE TEAMS THAT ARE RANKED RIGHT NOW. THOSE BOYS ARE BIG AND COACHED VERY GOOD. WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM ROLL THREW PLAYOFFS AND MAKE IT TO STATES. I THINK THEY NEED TO GET SOME CREDIT ON HERE, NOBODY TALKS ABOUT THE AAA TEAMS THAT ARE POWER HOUSES. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS FOR THE REAT OF THE SEASON .. MANHEIM CENTRAL BARON FAN .. LETZ-GO-BOYS

  7. Facts, 1 kid, ONE sir? C’mon man, stop with the rhetoric. Which ONE is with the Gamecocks? Is it Najee Goode? Is it Shahyodd Chavis? Is it David Williams? These are kids I know for a FACT came from WC. That’s without even looking at your Silary rosters. I know you mean well, you are proud of where you come from, and proud of who you are. Isn’t that enough for you? Why lie? All you do is give people ammo when you throw out all of these absurd FACTS. I don’t care if the kids wear a shirt and tie, an African dashiki, or go to school naked. Why is it so important to you to make things seem to be so much more than they are? It’s 2013, the only color you should see on the field, is the color of the jerseys.

  8. Is anybody watching coatesville?
why are they ranked number 1 or 2 in the state
they will not even win districts!!!!!
To many penalties and the same old plays over and over!!!!!
    A coatesville fan

  9. @ facts that’s really good to know about Imhotep because i didnt know that.
@ joe what are you Tsaf spokes person really, hes a big boy he can handle himself in here. Joe to respond to your statement no you couldnt handle a team of star players. People think it easy but its not, you have to be a dad, mentor, disciplinarian, phycologists and there coach so no Joe its not that easy.

  10. @ facts well said, its amazing to me how some people say things and when called on it they didn’t mean it that way. Athletes great or average needs a coach that can lead them and mold them. Every sport team doesn’t do things the right way it was drawn on the board. Barry sanders a Micheal Jordan the list go on but that’s what make them great. A football play meant to go through the 6
hole a running back see the opening through the back side hits it and score is he indiscipline or does he have good vision.

  11. @ mgguy
Very cool. Do you happen to know if that is the longest winning or non losing streak in PA? I remember when the Dallas Cowboys had 20 straight winning seasons and the Nebraska Cornhuskers had a long streak going too that was snapped a few years back. But 50 straight non losing seasons is awesome.

  12. Here the FACTS concerning the Imhotep story as posted on another site..

I’m going to tell you a story. It’s a story rich in the American tradition. It’s a story that touches the very nerve of what it is to serve your community. It’s the true definition of the American Dream and what it means to overcome adversity.
About 9 or so years ago, four Philly Firefighters got a bit tired of seeing the youth in the Northwest section of Philly behaving badly towards one particular school because they wore “corny school uniforms” (as the kids would say).
These brave heroes responded to this school one day for a medical emergency. While there, they told the school principal she should start a football team because it will help keep the kids active and off the streets. She in-turn placed the responsibility back on those Firemen by stating if you start the process, we will be interested.
Through donations, time, energy, struggles, personal loans, old helmets, cleats too big, cleats too small, over-sized shoulder-pads, the local trashman who jumped on-board to coach and provided couch pillows wrapped in duct tape from old thrown out furniture as blocking shields, donated chin-straps from the Philly Soul, donated blocking dummies from the dumpster of temple U, a dust bowl for a field, no locker-room (still don’t), no equipment storage room (still don’t) kids changing clothes in any degree weather (still do snow or rain), kids getting off drugs to play, kids turning their lives around to go to college, kids living in homeless shelters now with scholarships, kids running laps around drug-dealer filled corners who scream at them for support, kids being robbed while at practice, kids being stuck up for cell-phones but don’t retaliate, and one of the BEST HEAD COACHES to ever coach in this league whom Crosby replaced due to receiving a higher position at the school….. These Firemen build a PROGRAM.. A program that you see today.. A program where coaches are there for the kids and not a paycheck..

Then Crosby comes and adds steel framing to a concrete structure and makes it more stable. Only one kid came from WC, on his own accord, and started for Imhotep Sir…ONE!! And he’s a Gamecock now.. Crosby inherit a good young team and made them a GREAT young team. Need proof?
    2013 VARSITY roster–> http://www.tedsilary.com/imhotepFB13.htm
    2012 VARSITY roster–> http://www.tedsilary.com/imhotepFB12.htm
    2011 VARSITY roster–> http://www.tedsilary.com/imhotepFB11.htm
    2010 VARSITY roster–> http://www.tedsilary.com/imhotepFB10.htm
As you can see, the majority of Imhotep’s 2013 roster were there in 2010-2012. Transfers in here and there but every school has that. Transfers out here and there but most schools have that..

So please Sir, do not diminish, downplay or discredit what these firefighter heroes did with their own time, energy, loss marriages, funding, and aspirations to change a community by changing a school. They got involved and changed lives and this change is putting young-men in college and winning games along the way. With the advancement of social media, Imhotep has become popular, but just like all American stories…. it starts small and unnoticed and eventually gets recognized when its all said and done. Their championship is seeing these kids be successful, so they are 9 year straight Champions!!

As they do everyday, these firemen stuck their necks out to save lives and asked nothing in return but that these young-men stay discipline to life, committed to academic dominance, and lastly play sound football on the field. Thats how they got started.. It was an American Dream that has yet to end and if anyone has a problem with that, they’re not a true American IMO..

    Stay safe Brother…..

Uh, btw, those “corny uniforms”… are now worn with pride throughout the city. It’s an African dashiki, comes in your favorite colors; let me know if you want one…

  13. @Jim B, You’re right. That is exactly what I thought relative to conference alignments. So, thank you. That said, its funny Crestwood plays a D11 AAAA team 35 miles away rather than an AAAA team 12 miles away (WVW). Certainly Crestwood can schedule who they want and I wonder if its PMW just because of how the schedule fits together. Still PMW seems like an easy 120 pts to pluck whereas I doubt Crestwood would even come close to beating WVW.

  14. @tsaf77

    hey dude
    since you like facts brah
Lakeland Valley View and Scranton Prep
    shared the title in 82
and yep 87 was a nice nice year too
the year before the state championship was formed P.I.A.A dubbed it the un official state championship
we played AAAA williamsport and Berwick played Tunkhannock in the playoffs
and in the final it was
Lakeland vs Tunkhannock with Lakeland winning
    28-15….
    and Jim B
Hey man most def GO DAWGS
and about 2001 yeah that was a sad time at chapman lake we beat Meyers 66-0 in the season
and to lose because of 8 starters suspended from the district playoff was rough . the second worst was valley view losing to meyers the very next game in the District final.
currently I just hope we can get back to championship form….
    later guys

  15. @ The Facts

tsaf77 clearly did that he wasn’t talking about discipline regarding character. he read talking about discipline FOOTBALL play. he wasn’t talking about academics or any of that other stuff. he meant they don’t play within the defensive scheme in terms of gap integrity and staying with their responsibilities. disagree if you want but don’t use examples that aren’t relevant to his point.

  16. Congratulations to Wilson West Lawn, just clinched 38 straight winning seasons, 39 years ago were 5-5, that was only .500 season since last losing record in 1963, 50 straight non losing seasons. Defending D3 champs lost 19 kids to graduation, says something about coaching and a program. 8 sophmores playing this year.

  17. @ tsaf77

i agree with you completely. i have been to plenty of high school games where fans yell at coaches thinking it is there fault and although sometimes is it is, plenty of times the kids simply miss blocks, miss tackles, etc. There are also plenty of times very talented teams get out coached but the team is just athletically better so they win. i could coach IC and they would be a good team. would they be anywhere what they are now if a nerd like me was there coach? of course not. so clearly IC has a good staff bu. its certainly easier with that much talent.

  18. @tsaf

I agree, I don’t think you played this game before, nor did you ever coached. Because if you did, you wouldn’t say the things you’re saying about coaching staffs. If you believe coaching is all Xs and Os, you are sadly mistaken. Now I don’t know much about IC’s staff but I know coaching!!!
Remember, YOU STATED, IC kids are very talented. It takes a remarkable coaching integrity and commitment to coach a team full of talented players and have them all buy in to your mission.
It takes great leadership skills to keep talented players motivated when they know they can possibly be the star somewhere else.
It takes great coaching to coach inner city kids to be discipline and maintain good grades. That may be a low class stereotypical comment but its a high percent reality.
So I commend their staff. Their kids are productive college players and you never here of misconduct on field play.
I read the Ohio article of the Mooney game where the referees and Mooney’s coaches spoke of their discipline. After the Wyo game last year in Philly, the whole Wyo community that flooded the Germantown stadium all stated they were impressed with the hospitality and discipline of the Imhotep kids. That’s real coaching no matter what the record is. Coaching is not all about the Xs and Os, it’s about character development, mentor-ship, and academic motivation.
As you stated, the talent will take care of the Xs and Os..

  19. @ the quite one

We obviously disagree about the context to which the comments were made. Discipline does not refer to the character or actions of the students of IC off of the field. So please do not take my statement out of context and state the IC kids are not disciplined. We are talking football not every day life. I praised the kids for the talent they have.
The comment was directed at the film in which, for example, gap responsibility is missed or technique had broken down, or there is a lot of “free lancing.” These issues would be more obvious against a team with the same talent however mistakes are seen less when a team has more talent to hide them. Many people see a touchdown or a big play. They don’t see players out of position or missed blocks etc. I didn’t glorify the La Salle coaches, I merely stated that the IC coaches are not better than the La Salle coaches, meaning they are at least Equals if La Salle has the same talent on its team. I also pointed out that there are a lot of good coaches and staffs just like IC’s staff however they are judged on Wins and Losses. They are not judged on having kids in position and the kids just not being athletic enough to stop their opponent. Because that happens frequently at the High School level but dissipates at the College Level and the Pro Level talent is almost equal.

  20. @phillyboy,
Wood girls basketball had won 3 or 4 in a row, also other girls in AAAA. Boys basketball has produced numerous state championships. Pretty sure there was at least one soccer championship, baseball, lacrosse, etc. If you read the domination comment fully, you would have read that it was not about just football, but D12 as a whole.

  21. @Jim B

I know their not in the same division ( some people still think it’s Division I and II in the WVC still, it hasn’t been for a few years ), but every AAA team in the wvc plays Valley West except Crestwood. Just doesn’t make sense. I understand most teams want 7 conference games and 3 OOC games but they should still play each other.
