You are wrong. Buy a Wilkes-Barre newspaper and look at the official WVC standing. The WVC has three divisions based on school size. AAAA, AAA, AA/A. Crestwood gets away wit it because they are not required to play WVW.

This site and northeastPafootball both still list the WVC as division 1 and division 2, but they are wrong. Maybe that is why you are confused Rollie.

  2. @Dave Mika

My pleasure, Dave, I thoroughly enjoy EasternPAfootball. I do not know, however, if D1 will correct the rule statement, or the points awards; I did eMail them for a possible explanation. Keep up the great high school football work!

  3. @tsaf the statement u made was disrespectful to the coaching staff of ic. Then in your statement u glorified Lasalle coaches, why is that. To say which program has better talent or does a better job coaching is a terrible thing to say period. But u don’t stop there you added more ic kids do not have any discipline. My question to you is do u know the players on the team? Please dont do that some of the inner kids get a bad rep as it is but because their winning they are not discipline wow.

PIAA District One has posted their initial playoff standings as of 10/2. I have emailed them for clarification because it appears they are not following the bonus points rule they stated for 2013-14. They are awarding not the “previous” wins as the rule states, but also wins after a specific game by a winner to a team that lost. ???? Examples, I figured Pennsbury, C B West, Spring Ford, and North Penn; and in each case their totals are higher by the wins teams got after they beat the mentioned teams. For example again Pennsbury is 40 points high by the 4 wins Easton has which also includes the win over the Falcons, but three more AFTER that. The same for the other teams; North Penn is getting points for ALL of LaSalle, Wood, and St. Joe wins. This is not how the initial rule reads. I do my own standings and sure hope to get clarification.

  5. @Jim B-WVC D1 is made up of AAAA & AAA teams while WVC D2 is made up of AA & A teams. I get why Crestwood plays 2 Lackawanna teams, North Pocono and Wallenpaupack…they’re both AAA. Why though does Crestwood go outside its conference (and district) to play AAAA Pocono Mtn West of the Mountain Valley League (Dist 11) instead of WVW? PMW is 35 miles from Crestwood as opposed to 12 miles from Kingston. Mark D and Rob have extremely valid concerns. I think the answer is because Crestwood wants to pile up 120 playoff points and made a bet 2 years ago that PMW would be worse than Valley West. Its the Curry model. Play patsy AAAA teams to pile up playoff points to get a high seed. Coach Myers is a smart guy.

  6. @ the quite one

I do not understand what is so foolish or uncomprehending within the statements I have posted. To also make a statement that I have never played a day in my life by what I wrote is a juvenile analysis based on no evidence provided by you. Not that I would ever need to explain my experiences with you but I have been around the game a long time and played/coached with some of the best in PA whom are mentioned on this site almost daily. I will leave my rant of experience aside.
To clarify my statements that you addressed on the coaching vs. talent concept, I feel talent, especially the talent of a team like IC, far greater outweighs the coaching. If you actually read my comment to the end, I said Coach Crosby from IC “is a good coach and also the IC staff.” To organize and motivate the kids is no easy task however talent eases this tremendously and makes any coach look great. My comment was directed towards a statement that stated the IC staff was basically the reason for the teams success and not from the talent pool of the IC team. So, if you think my statement is foolish, that is your prerogative. Just watch IC on film, I see more Athletic play than I see of sound and disciplined coaching.

  7. If anyone can give imhotep a battle in the lehigh valley it would be catty they average 52 points a game im hoping they can get a hold of imhotep

  8. I don’t know, it seems to me you guys are exaggerating the success of D12 in the PIAA. Since they joined in ’04 D12 has won 2 state titles in any classification. That’s okay but hardly domination.

  9. Mark D
WVW and Crestwood are both in the WVC, but in different divisions. The WVC is broken down to three divisions- AAAA, AAA, and AA. It is NOT, and hasn’t been for many years, Divison I and Divison II.

So Crestwood is in the WVC AAA. WVW is in WVC AAAA.

  10. D11, I’m not talking about just football. D12 is not on the cusp of anything, they simply have dominated. When I say dominated, I refer to championships/championship appearances. Do they win every championship? Of course not. Look at basketball, boys and girls, D12 domination! Just had a state champion wrestler from Father Judge last year. Holy smokes, will there be some whining out there if D12 learns how to wrestle. Look at the number of districts, sports, championships over the time since D12 has joined PIAA. The percentages would lean way past cusp. D12 may not win every championship, but there sure are a bunch of folks out there that wish they never joined the PIAA.

  11. Will the Imhotep/Eastern Christian game be filmed/streamed this weekend? It would be a great game to see. Please post info. for those that would know.

  12. Philly has done more than anyone in a short period of time? While they are on the cusp of doing it they are not at the level of CB West, Berwick, ACC, Mt. Carmel, Southern Columbia etc. If they continue they absolutely will be, and it appears their is no end in sight, but they are not their yet. The same things that the philly schools are being accused of, so were the teams above accused of. It’s not a geographical thing, it’s a WINNING thing. Those schools were all successful CB West was accused of recruiting, ACC and Berwick were acused of recruiting, Mt Carmel and Southern Columbia were accused of red shirting kids and stealing kids from Shamokin. It is the same thing being said about Philly. Did these things happen? Yes I am sure but not to the degree that they were accused of. The same thing of the Philly schools i something going on, sure their is but not to the level it is debated about. WINNING recruits itself, WINNING breeds WINNING.

  13. RRMark, the fact is the rest of the state wanted the Philly schools in; they thought it would be a cakewalk.

Once the PCL schools joined in 2008, the state found out otherwise. They found out some good ball is played in the Philly area between D1 and D12 PCL schools. Today, it takes close to a miracle for D11 to get past D12 in the states.

It’s really why D11 has been pushing for the playoff format to be changed; so they can avoid the D12 match ups

  14. @ TS AF your statement is foolish and it let’s me know or at least it make u sound like u never played a day in your life. Then hell let the kids go play and let the coaches sit in the stands and watch.

  15. @ RR marks Brother why do u keep coming at Imhotep neck? Did they play or beat your team? I just want to understand that’s all or is it more to all your rants about the school. I can tell u this if it was the 80′ through the 90’s then you would be complaining about northeast high, Washington, Frankford and central high and mastbaum high because those where the dominant schools with the talented players that recruited from the area Imhotep is in as well as other area in philadelphia. RR marks now that’s football men if it was basketball then just hang it up west philly speed boys simon gratz high southern high the state wasn’t ready for the talent that was in philly then. Now Imhotep dominate in football and basketball deal with it.

  16. @RRMark, is there a board in the state you haven’t been on crying about Imhotep?

You define being riled up; get a new act, this one is old.

  17. RRMark, you serious? Philly schools have done more in just a few years in the PIAA than any district in that short amount of time. I actually get a kick out of your anti-Philly rants. That’s just me though, I like a good joke. That’s why I read your posts.

  18. @RRMark should be easy to build a legacy if the players give up as quickly as you do.

Someone once told me I can’t prove another mans ignorance but I can let them keep talking to prove it for themself. Therefore I’ll turn the floor back to you.

  19. I love getting the philly crowd all riled up. I know, I know, they are bitter that they haven’t made a good showing yet in states (apart from prep/charter/Catholic). It’s not their fault the system wants to give them a little boost… a hand up to get to Hershey and taste the chocolate kisses. Maybe one day they will have a history of champions like Berwick, CBW, ACC or Mt. Carmel. They can only dream.

  20. @Jim B,
Trad is not the only person on here that thought the fake punt was shameful. It was the icing on the cake after the end of the half fiasco. Maybe the icing on the cake was Curry jumping around, crying like a baby, when his team got stuffed on the goal line, up 36-0. Humble winner? Is what you refer to as humble?
I have had 2 posts not go through so far this season, both this week, both knocking Curry. Is this a Berwick site? Lou Holtz coached men that got scholarships worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. He coached against men with the same benefits. Do you know why they’re called college men, and high school kids? Because high schoolers are children! I’m not one of them people that thinks everybody deserves a trophy for participating. However, a little respect, towards these children, would be a noble thing.
