  1. @mgguy,
I am by no means a, Imhotep guy. Don’t like the way the team was built, and I have major issues with Philly charter schools. Charter schools are a different conversation for a different day. That being said, Imhoteps team is an absolute machine. I agree with you on the teamwork thing. Wyomissing came out and spanked Imhotep last year, all teamwork. Their 6’3″ 230lb RB/LB had a fantastic game, he flat out dominated. Hands down, the best player on the field that game! I guess him and his buddies are out working on the family farm right now. Oh, he’s not? He got a scholarship to Florida? I thought he was going to Notre Dame. That’s right, he turned them down, along with about 75 other schools. Yeah, teamwork beats talent any day.

  2. Sorry, all this Imhotep talk is getting crazy, best in US, best in PA, 14 D1, let us see this list of players and offers, lets see where they end up in December. A true team will always beat a collection of athletes, team play makes up for a lot. Wyomissing proved that last year and year in/out. Wilson has been going deep into states without “14 D1 offers” on the roster. D12 may have some good teams, but to listen to a lot ofthe posters here the rest of the state should mail it in. Check out the year end computer rankings from last year, other districts seemed to do pretty good.

  3. Steve, D1 is not D1. Buffalo is not Bama. Let’s say the SEC gets 15 of the top 20 kids at each position. Then PAC 12, Big 10, ACC, etc. etc. and down the line. There are 120 something D1 programs, all giving out 25 scholarships. Regardless where you get it, a free education is a free education. If you do get a D1 scholarship, you certainly don’t suck by a long stretch. However, there is a huge disparity in talent between top level D1 schools, and low level D1 schools. To prove your point would be very easy. Next Saturday Oct 3rd, Alabama plays the Georgia State Panthers. We can have a small wager. I’ll take Alabama and you can have Georgia State, even up. Let’s say for a million dollars!

  4. @Joe,

Catty probably would get worn down on defense vs. the size/speed combo of Imhotep especially having guys pulling double duty. They need 2 or 3 more Jared Nosel types up front. But with the skill players on offense, I think they’d be able to put up some points. To beat them, they’d need to play a perfect game and get some turnovers. Wyomissing really impressed me. They had a great team last year. I have not seen Aliquippa this year.

  5. Division 1 is Division 1. Whether is Buffalo or ‘Bama, there’s only ~100 of them with 15-25 available spots each year pending grad class size. A kid being offered a full scholarship to Buffalo to play football is still one excellent athlete!….because the kid he’s going up against will be a Business/Marketing/Science major at Franklin & Marshall next year…also a wonderful achievement, but you get the point!!
14 or 18 of them, you have what amounts to an un-stoppable force!!….IMHO

  6. @Joe none of the catty guys have offers as of this point. My son works with Bradley’s dad. He is talking to Division 3 schools

  7. well the season is going strong and my LAKELAND
CHIEFS are giving it their best and as much as their not as beast as past years of our CHAMPIONSHIP
storied program they are still our CHIEFS and we support them 110 percent .
on to other things I tip my hat to “AA” Carbondale Area who are 4-0 and the only district 2 team still un scored apon. many people will say their schedule
is weak because of LAKELAND and RIVERSIDE going through building years no matter the facts any team that holds ANY TEAM to NO points in 4 games is something to admire so I as a LAKLEAND fan will take the first step in saying good job coach
LARRY and Chargers . For those who don’t know carbondale their last winning season came in the year 2001 and do not have many winning season’s .
that my friends is why this is so amazing .
onto to other teams who I respect the most besides my CHIEFS ofcourse
the BERWICK BULLDAWGS and the SOUTHERN COLUMBIA
    TIGERS!!!!
To coach CURRY and Coach ROTH
BEST OF LUCK on your journey to HERSHEY !!!!
I’m very happy watching the DAWGS and TIGERS
DESTROYING teams they play week to week.
My prediction for “AAA” TITLE GAME is
BERWICK VS SCRANTON PREP ….DAWGS 32-7
and in “A” OLD FORGE playing
DUNMORE in the title game OLD FORGE 27-13
then OLD FORGE vs SOUTHERN COLUMBIA in STATE PLAYOFFS ALL TIGERS 44-13
    WE WILL SEE !!!
I almost forgot to ALL the WYOMING VALLEY WEST
fans ???? what were you all saying about Berwick not getting past your HUGE LINE in case you didn’t watch the game ummm ya LOST !
    GO DAWGS !!!!

Lastly to the CHIEFS dig deep and do your best
    GO CHIEFS !!

  8. As of now, which I thing will change after Scott stops stealing the show, he is not ranked in the top 300. I’m not saying Bama is the be all to end all, just an example. But, there are HS teams out there with Bama, LSU, Florida, all on same HS team. From my posts you know I’m a big fan of Bonner. Just not nationally known as a big time back right now. I think that will change next season. He is listed at 5’10” 180, I think that is being very generous. His size, or lack there of, may be what’s holding him down right now.

  9. @jive

True but I heard that Nasir bonner got invited to that nike camp in Oregon isn’t that for top 300 players? And he pulling some interest from Bama

  10. Let’s all agree that Imhotep has a very, very good team this year. However, let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. If the team had the LaSalle name, instead of Imhotep, they would be top team in the nation? 14 kids with D1 offers is incredible! There is a big difference between D1 Buffalo and D1 Alabama. ESPN top 300 for classes 2014 and 2015 have exactly zero players from Imhotep. There are a couple high schools with 3 kids in the top 100, and a few more with a couple players listed in 14 and 15. Best in Philly? Yup! Best in state? Good chance! Top in the nation? No way whatsoever!

  11. @steve

In a interview I saw on the lasalle vs imhotep game
Coach Cosby said that if you took imhotep talent and put it on lasalle team lasalle would be top team in the nation but I say this because how lasalle football team is branded imhotep is the up and coming next big thing coming from pa but we could be witnessing a dynasty in the making

  12. Burton will put a hurtin on ya on both sides of the ball. Bradley is a couple inches in height from being a top recruit. But I’ve seen few high school QB’s with his arm strength and accuracy.

  13. Uh, Imhotep didn’t think they would lose last year. All that talent. Wyomissing dominated them. No teams may be as good as Wyomissing this year, maybe Aliquippa, but other teams will rise up.

  14. @Steve,
Agree with you 100%! I think the only thing that can stop them in the near future would be for the PIAA to step in, and impose the “transfer must sit out a year to play rule”. PIAA will not do that because they are one of many that enforcing this rule will effect. It’s not just football, it’s worse in basketball. Until PIAA grows a set, and starts enforcing their own rules, nothing will change.

  15. @ Jive and ????

18 with D1 talent, 14 with offers!! That’s over twice as many than that vaunted Wood class of 2 yrs. ago. It’s unheard of for a H.S. football team.
Not lose to a AA team?? They should mercy-rule every 2A-4A team in this state and should be a 2 TD favorite against the Top 10 nationally!!
The Top 10 teams in the country do not possess that volume of talent. If this team loses a game or has a AA opponent within 2-3 TD’s, it would constitute the current equivalent to the Black Sox scandal. IMHO..
…and it’s not going to change anytime soon. Coaches are shrewd and hungry for continued dominance/success. Why else would they make their presence SEEN and felt at City games/scrimmages of teams not on their schedule.
I would be very surprised with the current structure in place if this school loses anytime in the near future, we could be looking at a DeLaSalle(Ca.) like run here. The only thing that would derail this train would be some sort of coaching/school malfeasance.

  16. I see the district playoff points to date were released. Is there any chance that the D1 AA winner is actually going to play in the sub-regional this year or make excuses like last year?

  17. @ d11 football

Burton has an offer from colgate he will get more soon. ive heard bradley has been talking to division 1aa schools as well. marshall has an offer to akron. dont know what you’re talking about them not being d1.

  18. 18 kids with D1 talent, and 14 holding offers, is insane for a Philadelphia HS team. I can’t remember a Philly team that stacked, ever! I’ve watched them a few times this year, and they should not get beat by any AA team. However, if they get caught with their guard down, like last year, does Crosby keep his job?

  19. Catty has no division 1 players. Maybe the MArshall kid at WR, but none of the other players are being recruited by division 1 schools

  20. General:
I just read the bonus point rule for District One from the D1 website. The losing team gets credit for any “PREVIOUS” wins by the victor. I originally thought that the losing team would benefit by the winning teams’ total record, which did seem to be too aggresive. For instance, LaSalle beat North Penn opening game for both. The Knights get no bonus pts as they lost and LaSalle had no “previous” wins. The Knights do not get points for LaSalle’s continuing successes. This makes this bonus points rule more important as the season progresses and more “previous” wins accumulate. For instance, say two class 4A 9-0 teams meet in the regular season finale; the winner gets 190 points and the loser instead of zero gets 90 for the victor’s 9 previous wins. This is the way I read the rule, if I am correct. Thought I should pass it on for those interested, or those already doing playoff rankings as I have. Anyone please correct me if I have erred.

  21. @Dan

Imhotep has about 18 d1 players but only about 14 hold offers so I think that says a lot compared to 3 of them but it should be a good game if catty comes out strong
