  1. You know your good when people start hating on your ranking. Remember this Coatesville barring any major injuries will not be beaten in the regular season and their defense is the best in the state. Neshaminy? I saw them and they can’t compete with Coatesville’s defense.

  2. The “strength of schedule” this early in the season is comical as many schedules are front loaded with patsies. Plus, they’re HS kids. Who knows what goes on in their heads? At 16-17 most of what they think about begins with the letter “P”.

Sure, you can have it but the arguments are worthless. Wait until week 7 or 8. By then we’ll know who’s real and who’s not.

Historically, teams from the tough leagues emerge like the Sub One, PCL, & Lehigh Valley. But heck, juggernauts like Berwick can emerge from a patsy league like the WVC. (BTW, I have no skin in the game with any of these leagues.)

I think you are saying that you would like to see some more “big” games early in the season, to prove how good you are. Like I said in a previous post, Coatesville opponents have a winning record. I found it odd that you used Wood as an example. Wood opponents are 0-9, and have been outscored 358-69. With the premise that Coatesville doesn’t deserve to be #2 because of their, as you say, weak schedule. How in the world can you say Wood is one of the best in the state? Under the weak schedule standards that you threw out there, of course.

  4. After 3 weeks. All looks normal in PCL. SJ Prep looks solid, but not the over rated early hype. LaSalle seems to be maturing, as Gordon stated as necessary. Explorers may see better results from struggling d-backs when Franklin returns.Perhaps a surprise with Ryan appearing solid. North Penn appears down and out. We will see who steps up in Suburban One, maybe Abington?? Coatsville seems tough again. A fun week 3!

  5. I don’t understand these ratings? How can Coatesville be ranked# 2 when they have such a weak schedule? If you’re one of the best in the state, than you should play the best in the state during the regular season! Archbishop wood,st.Joseph, etc! At that point, I believe they will deserve it!

  6. Everybody on here knows I’m not a D1 guy by any stretch. Looking at scores and schedules, I think it would be very hard to compare Neshaminy and Coatesville right now. Neshaminy has played against 3 teams that would struggle against most decent JV teams. Their opponents combined record is 1-8. Coatesville opponents are 5-4. Coatesville has possibly the best RB in the state. I’m not saying Coatesville will beat Neshaminy by 40 when they play, and I’m not saying Neshaminy isn’t very good. Just can’t compare the 2 after week 3, with the teams Neshaminy has played so far.

  7. Coatesville is looking strong again this season, riding the momentum from one of the best seasons in school history, and could make some noise again come playoff time.

Early season prediction – Neshaminy over Coatesville in D1 Final. They are 3-0, outscoring opponents 100-0. They have much greater challenges ahead but their defense has made a huge statement early on.

Not so fast. Coughlin may not be a favorite to make the D2 AAA playoffs, but they certainly do have a chance. Going forward, they should only lose to Berwick and WVW. They will beat Western Wayne, Williamsport, and Pittston. That leaves Crestwood (who they beat last year), and Pocono Mountain East (who they also beat last year). And even if they slip up and go 7-3, their wins versus the AAAA schools they play will help them to possibly get in.

  9. Abandon cause;
    LaSalle 1-1
    Prep 1-1
    NP 0-2
Coatsville 2-0— oops…. Give them props even if the games are not the same caliber as the teams above.

Can’t chirp away and talk about how good you are when your teams lose games.

But then again the top 3 teams have played the top teams in PA, NJ, TX. …

the sleeper in the lackawanna conference might be West Scranton big and fast skill kids, dont be supprised if they knock off Dunmore tonight

  11. @ 4bkmules: I think you missed Abington Heights. I think they are 2-0 with two AAA wins (Pittston and Dallas) which would give them 200 points, right?

I think Berwick is clearly the team to beat. It will be interesting to see how the Lackawanna league works itself out. Clearly stronger than WVC this year, it appears Scranton Prep, Abington Heights, West Scranton and perhaps Wallenpaupack will battle for the remaining spots. Coughlin looks much more diverse on offense and is always tough on defense, but we will have to see how the last 8 games go. Their schedule is soft in the beginning and I think they started out 3-0 before ending up 6-4.

  12. @4bkmules the district 2 AAA playoffs will not look anything like this. Wallenpaupack and Coughlin have no shot at making the playoffs. Abington heights, West Scranton, Berwick, and Scranton Prep are the top 4 teams in d2 AAA by a long shot

  13. Very early in the season for NE FB right now the top 4 in D-2
    1. Berwick 220
    2. Coughlin 220
    3. Wallenpaupack 210
    4. Scranton Prep 190

Wallenpaupack may be a sleeper, but Berwick has great overall talent, but a soft schedule. Coz Curry is in charge of strength training and has made great strides the last 2 years, probably the strongest and most talented Dawg team in many years.
