thanks Dunmore Sam,
We tip our hats to you guys as well.
Good luck this year and prayerfully everyone will stay healthy. Win or lose games between Lakeland and Dunmore
are always smash mouth yet classy Respect to all of the Lackawanna Football Conference
I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else .
It’s an awesome place to raise a family and bring up great talent we also have awesome TV coverage
in WNEP with the super 16 countdown and awesome coverage….
good luck to all and be safe …
as always GO CHIEFS GO !!!! NEVER GIVE IN NEVER GIVE UP !!!!
@Rob
like you picks for D2,in AAA Berwick and Abington should be cream of the crop.Valley View will be very young. the team that might make some noise is North Pocono, played a lot of young kids last year and has a big group coming back.
lakeland chiefs are a terriffic program. as a dunmore fan i can attest that not only have they been great on the field , they have always been classy in both victory and defeat. good luck chiefs , just not against dunmore.
Rumor has it that Head Coach Joe Bottiglieri of Emmaus is stepping down and taking a job at Lehigh University? Anyone confirm this ?
D2 picks:
A: Either Old Forge or Dunmore. both are light years ahead of all the other teams in A. But if I had to pick I would take Dunmore by a touchdown in the district title game. OF needs a QB and running back. They’ll be solid on D though.
1. Dunmore
2. Old Forge
3. Riverside
4. Trail
5. Northwest
6. Holy Cross
2A: It’s gonna be weak again this year but here’s how I think it’ll shake out:
1. Lake Lehman. Huge fullback and solid running back + very big o line. ALl that is missing is a threat in the pass game but they should be good. Only loss I forsee is week one to Old Forge
2. Lakeland- Lakeland always has good athletes. I know they lose some good players but I expect to see a good year by them
3. Meyers. Surprise, surprise. Still need work on defense but they barely graduated anyone so they’re third. Still not sold on them though. Rememeber 2a is weaksauce
4. Wyoming Area. Lost a lot of talent but also have some good underclassmen. 2 talented linebackers will make them tough.
3A: 1. Berwick, they have 60 some kids on the roster plus curry coming back. They’ll be solid
2. Abington Heights. Show and Hollander are going to be dangerous
3. Valley View- I know they lost some guys but the Castellani kid is coming back so VV should be decent
4. Honesdale- I think this team is ready to have a good year
AAAA- I really have no idea. Scranton and DV both lost alot, I dunno much about either. WVW and HAzleton won’t be that good either.
GO MOUNT CARMEL AREA RED TORNADOS
I played in the early 2000’s and take lots of pride
in the winning tradition at Mount Carmel Area
that I helped make.
But one thing I can’t stand are people who tear
down football teams who win and win alot ….
don’t be hate’n because you have trophy cases
that are empty …winning football teams are like families
at the end of every season we stand together like a band of brothers …teams like ……….
Southern Columbia- Berwick -Clairton
Parkland-Abington Heights-Strath Haven
Manheim Central-Central Bucks West-Lakeland
Aliquippa-Dunmore-Wyomissing-Allentown Central
Catholic-…..etc
so to all the haters of winning football teams
take up another sport !!!!!!
funny how people forget about the PCL when it comes to states.. gonna be a good year for a couple teams from there..
LOL….
To say Lakeland is “nothing” and all those awesome championship
years were just luck and that we were juicing …haha what do ya say to that?
but just laugh. hey if you believe your theory is correct so be it everybody has a right to an opinion
luck doesn’t win 19 DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIPS
and 5 DISTRICT 2 “AA” CHAMPIONSHIPS …
and yep your right ABINGTON HEIGHTS has been
a POWERHOUSE since 1995 on and DUNMORE
since many years earlier no question about that
we like the COMETS AND BUCKS lots of pride and tradition …unlike “some” people we at Lakeland tip our hat to football programs that win games
and show respect for other programs … just like when the BUCKS went to STATES this year what
school put a HUGH good luck sign saying
GOOD LUCK BUCKS from THE CHIEFS on Dunmore corners ….WHY because
we have class …..for many years there have been very shallow people who said garbage about several time STATE CHAMPS BERWICK BULLDAWGS …
It was people who were never in a winning tradition themselves so they will never know how a fine oiled football program works …
even MOUNT CARMEL fan’s were classy after our close battle with them in state’s WHY one word
class !
but again sir its your right to your opinion
and whoever your team is good luck
Wow, do I sense a little bit of jealousy here. When a team destroys other local teams the majority of the time thats not luck, its skill. Lakeland has had some great games with Dunmore and Abington Heights as well as others. Mostly wins and some loses. Both teams are class acts with great coaches. So is Lakeland. My brother and I played on some of the early Lakeland teams and trust me NO ONE juiced. Our teams lived in the gym. Tradition fueled us. Facts are facts buddy and wins are wins. Deal with it.
Don’t slip on Interboro they are up and coming and they will spit more fire this year. The up and coming Junior Na’im, Mark and Karan on offense/defense are the kids to watch. We need more staff support for these kids which they don’t have at the school but, the parents actually take control of the future allstars… Look out they are on their way……… Good Luck Team!!!!
Lakeland is nothing they have got lucky for years ,, those earlier years they were all on the juice dunmore and Abington have been the power house for years they got talent Lakeland has luck
family- community- pride = Lakeland Chiefs football
entering the 2013 football campaign
the CHIEFS are owners of 19 league championships
5 DISTRICT 2 “AA” championships …..
and last season bowed to a very skilled
wyoming area team in the District 2 championship game
also last season marked LAKELAND’S 14 straight district playoff appearance to date 15 overall
in past season’s making it to the eastern semi final twice also way back to 1987 winning the Eastern Conferance title going 13-0 one year before the P.I.A.A STATE TITLE was formed
in the playoffs that season the CHIEFS BEAT “AAAA”
WILLIAMSPORT and “AAA” TUNKHANNOCK Defeated “AAA”BERWICK to reach the unoffical state title game
LAKELAND 28 TUNKANNOCK 15 what a fun game…
through the years even through “building” years the chiefs end up making the playoffs through hard work, lots of pride and an AWESOME COMMUNITY FAN BASE…..!! good luck chiefs
“NEVER GIVE UP NEVER GIVE IN” FOCUS !!!
I have faith the LAKELAND CHIEFS
will remain in the D-2 “AA” post season.
having won the D-2 “AA” CHAMPIONSHIP 2000-2002-2003-2004-2006
and last season being its 14th straight District
playoff appearance the CHIEFS will represent well.
Almost beating DUNMORE in a close battle of much respected riveils ….only time will tell
good luck to all NEPA teams stay healthy
play smart……
@???????? Yes Imhotep will be around for a while. If in while you mean until the state shuts them down for test tampering and rampant cheating. Yes, they are one of the few schools still being investigated so don’t call BS on this one.
@Rob each of thouse players got more than one start due to injury but you are right it doesnt matter both Old Forge and Dunmore will be very strong teams.
Mark D there is no way that’s right. Oprisko did not start and one of the Drews twins did not start either. Boland, Korjeski and Jones are the 3 departures. Marchese played more D than O too.
Their returning starters will be the QB, Buckley, 2 lineman, tight end, full back and a WR(Blackwell).
Regardless, Dunmore and Old Forge are going to be very, very good. Both imo should be preseason top 5. Both schools are going to have massive O lines.
you have
Drew at center
Drew at guard
Oprisko at tackle
Mchale at tackle
Zilla at tight end
doesnt look like Dunmore lost 3 o line man to me
pluse Buckely back at tail back
fullback Sawka
QB Kujawiski
end Marcase
that 9 back on offence that made the State final
@Tim, Berwick will be a force to reckon with in 2013. Berwick will have much stronger linemen, Trent Kowalski will be the tb 6 foot 2 inches 200 lbs, CJ Curry back at qb. Defense will be better with all dbs over 6 foot tall and very good team speed. Only 2 tests will be WVW and Selinsgrove, could be a rematch of 2012 aaa final with Abington Heights.
Not saying Dunmore won’t be as good next year in “A”, because that coach does a fine job and they seem to be good every year. But according to a lineup from last years playoffs, they bring back RT,C, TE, QB and RB on offense. They actually lose 3 starting OL. But like I said, they will again be a force in D2 again.
Dunmore brings a lot back in A most of the o line and their big running back
What about small schools in the East (AA/A)? Danville and Southern Columbia bring back a lot on each side of the ball.
no mention of D2 schools ? watchout for what Coach Curry and the DAWGS do in D2 and maybe a trip to Choc. Town in the cards!!
Imhotep will still have lots of speed next year with only about 5 seniors leaving this year they still have great players to fill in missing spots. This team is young and will be around for awhile.
Zephdad – not to be the spelling police but it’s Catty, not caddy. Your mind is on the golf course and not in Catty (unless you are standing on Bullshead or Howertown Roads =)
And I do think Catty has a legit shot at Hershey, be positive =)
