  1. @ Steve,
Have a great time down in Atlanta! I looked up Cardinal Mooney on MaxPreps, and it looks like Imhotep may beat them worse than Bama beats VT. National rank is 1236 to Tep’s 558. I am not familiar with Mooney but, looking at their past seasons records, seems like they are in a funk right now. (3-6 last year) I would take Tep giving 30 points, and the over. See ya next week at G-town.
@ The folks coming down the shore,
We all know Wildwood is pretty strict with drinking laws, damn rental cops. NJ state law is 21 to drink. I’ll bring a case of Amstel to the game, can somebody stop and get some apple juice for buddy?

  2. So, where did Darik Johnson (Soph WR) end up? I heard he transferred from Dallas (D2) but only heard rumors as to where (WVW, Crestwood, NJ).

  3. @Steve

Prep had a rough preseason with TEP and SJR. I was surprised how badly they played but for the record I thought they would be a step back from last season, I just did not think it would be this significant. I also think Infante has a plan to keep this team a little grounded to get beyond all the preseason hype and I think the vanilla effort that was put forward in both scrimmages is just part of it!

Looking forward might be a little tricky. Jesuit Dallas might also be in a down year so maybe the Prep squeaks by on Philly grit. Don Bosco Prep is also supposed to be having a down year but a down year for them is better then most teams. Is a down year with them a 1 TD loss to SJR who beat the Prep by 4 possibly 5 TDs in a scrimmage. North Penn seems to be an unknown at this point so I keep getting an “ask again later” and “cannot predict now” from my Magical Eight Ball. So who can say how that is going to go.

In reality the Prep could fall to 0-3 or come out a surprising 3-0. My prediction they lose in tight one in Dallas. They get blown up by DBP in Ramsey as a result of a difficult run of 3 bad showings and they squeeze by NP in an battle. I see 1-2 going into their bye week.

After the bye week, I think you see a different team. Much more improved with 5 battles or beatings behind them leading to a much stronger team but what do I know?

  4. There are some good games this weekend, unfortunately, LaSalle/North Penn won’t be one of them.
Prep does have a rough schedule Steve. I believe they play Imhotep also.If they were in D1, they be in jeopardy of not making playoffs with maybe 3 loses. That would be a same, considering their talent

  5. To mgguy. Your right, this is a big game for the Bulldogs and Mustangs. Go too believe this is the biggest in years. Mifflin loaded in size and talent but lacks team speed and depth plus players will have to play both sides of the ball. Wilson has 3 returning starters but have a ton of little pups waiting to get unleashed. Can’t wait for this game. Might be the biggest game in D3 in 2013 even the D3 playoffs. I predict Bulldogs by 10………..

  6. Anybody hear anything about the transfer from boys Latin? The kid Edinton Wright now playing for roxborough high school?

  7. @ trad Eastern PA Coaches poll picks Pittston 4 out of 9 in District 2 big schools (AAA & AAAA,)behind Berwick, Valley West, and Crestwood, while Abington Heights WR All-State JC Show has been moved to QB. Abington Heights overall talent should prevail, however Pittston could give them a scare.

  8. Pittston Area will be improved and might be able to hang around for awhile but in the end I think AH will pull away

  9. @Jive
Shore weekend sounds great, would enjoy that. Unfortunately, actually fortunately will be at Kick-off Classic(‘Bama vs. VT ). Will catch up with you week 2 with LS/Tep. I’ll be thinking of you guys on my second slab of ribs!! Any thoughts on handicapping that Cardinal Mooney game? They are historically solid program from Youngstown, don’t know much else about them.

  10. anyone know how Pittston Area is going to be this year? Abington Heights plays them Friday and rumor has it AH’s starting running back and their 2 biggest offensive linemen are suspended for the game. Not sure if they can get away with not having these guys and still get the W or if Pittston can pull the upset

  11. Here in Berks (D3) the big game is Governor Mifflin hosting Wilson West Lawn. Big rivalry game, both defending league champs, lots of good story lines, probably see a huge crowd there.

  12. Any thoughts on Prep? Week One – Dallas Jesuit. Week Two – Don Bosco. Week Three – North Penn.
    Aggressive schedule.

  13. @KMR,
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I agree with OLCoach. (joke) Can’t go wrong being down the shore for Labor day weekend. Roman vs Malvern at noon, then Neumann vs Furness at 4. I don’t think Neumann or Furness are gonna make a run at the state title, but the put on a hell of a game last year, 33-32. No matter what happens during the day, Borgata on Saturday night is certainly a winner. Maybe all of us posters on here can meet at the Gypsy bar, have a few beers, and hug it out.

  14. @Jake Scranton Prep is very young at the skill postions, that why i liked Abington. The local coachs poll feel that Prep has a lights out defence. But time for talk is over now we kick it off

  15. 7 on 7’s and scrimmages are over…..now we can say> “Let the games begin”. Remember Good Coaches still need skilled and disciplined players with minimal injuries, a great work ethic and a bit of luck. the basic formula for states …it’s not rocket science. It would be nice to see the East sweep the board at States…..

  16. @17th & G, don’t worry about Jive. He’s just a naturally friendly guy; being friendly comes easy to him, can’t you tell?

  17. @KMR

Definitely go check out North Penn – LaSalle at PW on Saturday night. Probably the best game of the weekend. CR South at CB South on Friday night is worth seeing, the RB Adams at CBS is definitely the real deal. Of the teams you mention, the CB teams, North Penn, and HH are decent. Palisades plays in a weak conference, and Lans Catholic plays a very weak schedule and is not a strong team. Arch Wood as you mention appears to be loaded again and they are worth seeing any week of the season. North Penn’s first three games are LaSalle, St. Joes Prep and Arch Wood, go to any of those games and you won’t be disappointed.

  18. @ KMR

Palisades? What does that have in common with all the other teams that you listed? Isn’t there a Palisades Park over in North Jersey or something?

  19. @mark d I agree Scranton Prep is going to be tough they are very fast on defense and have a physical O line with some nice skill kids. Another team in AAA that might sneak up on teams is Coughlin. rumor has it that Johnson who was on Dallas last year is now playing on Coughlin. Coughlin is usually a tough running team with a physical D with Johnson in the mix at WR it will make them a tough team to play against this year but don’t think any of the team in AAA in D2 have enough to beat Berwick

  20. @KMR, if I were to hit a game this weekend I’d hit Roman Catholic vs Malvern Prep; 2 good teams teeing off in Wildwood, NJ. After, I’d make a pit stop at the Borgata for some adult fun! That’s what I call a doubleheader!

Closer to home I’d suggest North Penn at LaSalle; 2 quality teams with alot to prove.

  21. @Buddy,
Comment from August 24th 3:37pm. Maybe you should buy me 3 rounds also. Nice to see you come out of the woodwork, a town fool is always nice to kick around. Welcome back!

  22. @Jive

Wow a little testy! Humor! Read it carefully…unless the counting your toes and the childish Santa reference were to over the top! Sometimes I have to catch myself and not use humorous references with people I don’t know. You just never know when they might resemble my humor and get offended!

Accept my apologies? I think we can get along?

    Lollipop?
