  1. @jive Imhotep scored on the very 1st play. Frankford didn’t get there until 10:35(scrimmage was suppose to start at 11). Didn’t really look ready to go but that’s certainly not imhoteps problem. Frankford went 3 and out. Imhotep fumbled on its next series. Frankford’s 3rd string running back fumbled and Imhotep picked up and scored. Frankford drove down and scored on a 20 yard pass. It was a real nice throw by their QB. Imhotep drove down to about Frankford’s 20 but were stopped. After that both teams started subbing pretty freely. So after about a quarter and half of starters it was 14-6 Imhotep. Frankford’s d-line gave Imhoteps problem pretty consistently. Frankford only had about 33-34 players suited up. So if it was a real game Imhotep probably would wear them down but as far as this scrimmage it was competitive. IMO if Imhotep is a top 5 team in the area Frankford is a top 15 team. We shall see.

  2. there = a place, not here but there

their = denotes possession, their team, their qb

they’re = contraction of they are, they’re going to win the game

  3. @RickD I agree about the whole Berwick thing. People from Berwick are trying to r-live something from the 80’s and 90’s that just isn’t there anymore. Berwick was great in the late 80’s and 90’s and the teams now at Berwick do not even compare. Last year before the district final everyone was talking about how Berwick was going to handle AH and were looking at a date with ACC. Meanwhile AH put up 44 at Crispin Field and won the district title. Berwick will look good during the regular season this year because of the weak opponents on most of it. But we will see what happens come playoff time.

  4. @jive

Imhotep scored 3 or 4 times and moved the ball pretty consistently. There starters went for 2 or 3 series. Defensively they gave up 1 TD and had a couple 3 and outs.

Frankford looked young overall, but has a nice D-Line. Probably a team that will get better as the season goes on.

  5. Anyone see Rustin vs Pottsgrove scrimmage yesterday?

Rustin is always very tough. I thought this would be a down year for Pottsgrove…and Spring Ford’s year to dominate. I read in their local paper where Pottsgrove has 9 starters back on “D” and 4 of their 6 OL back plus All State candidate Fowler.

  6. With D11 a bit down this year (judging by previous comments) D2 may have a decent road to the eastern finals. Wood has an awful lot of talent though. Its a mortal lock that their PCL games are light years tougher as competitors than anything in D2. That said, Curry really is a great coach and in his past successes has made his bones by using D2 as a full season of scrimmages to fine tune for post season runs against real football teams. It would not surprise me if he pulled it off. Would love to see Abington Heights vs Berwick as historically they have been the 2 decent AAA teams in that district. Recently, Lackawanna football has been light years ahead of the WVC. Its nice to see Berwick emerge as a true competitor again.

  7. @jive

Imhotep beat Frankford scored on the first play then Frankford had a fumbled and imhotep defense turned that into a score then they coach took out the ones cause mooney was there I think and put the 2nd string in for the rest off the game very short scrimmage.

  8. @ Ron

I can’t take it anymore man. You Berwick people are so arrogant and ignorant. Please stop seeing the world through Berwick colored glasses. They played 2 good teams all of last season and gave up 33 and 44 points. Toss, dive, dive keep and running to his bench are getting old for George. The good coaches have him figured out. The only problem is there are very few good coaches in D2. They will not beat Abington Heights in the playoffs and I wouldn’t be surprised if WVW and Selinsgrove beat them too. So don’t go punching their ticket to week 14 just yet. CJ is AVERAGE at best.

  9. Last week we had updates 5 minutes after Imhotep took on Prep’s rolling varsity/jv (yep JV, I saw the film). How did Tep do against Frankford today?

  10. Pennridge smacked around Tennet today in a scrimmage. Defense looked shaky but could be a promising team if they keep improving under Hollenbachs new schemes

  11. Saw Lehman/Riverside tonight. Lehman looked pretty good. They ran the ball very well and were able to throw a little too. Riverside didn’t look like a normal Riverside team that I’m used to seeing. They looked decent up front but the LBs looked bad and they didn’t move the ball very well except for 1 drive.

  12. This is the year for district 2 3A to get to the eastern final. I saw ACC scrimmage vs Southern Lehigh. AC is maybe a 3-4 win team. Nobody besides ACC can beat a D2 3A team. Berwick could get into the eastern final vs wood. I have only seen Mime Carey out coached twice the West v ECP game and the ACC v Wood game in 2010. No question Curry could do it but not sure if Berwick had the athletes to do it.

  13. CJ Curry throws 4 long td passes and Dain Kowalski has some nice gains running as Berwick crushes Central Dauphin 35-7. Walked away very impressed with performance. Barring injuries this team could go a long way this year.

  14. @Justin

Keep an eye on the final 4 teams on this web sites rankings, they will be one of those ( I’m thinking #3).
    That’s pretty damn good.

  15. Guys these are scrimmages , not games and the frist scrimmages.Coaches are looking at a lot of different things many dont play their know starters much becuse they want to see what depth they have.they sometime work on weakness, not their strengths. yes some things stand out but only the coached know what their trying to accomplish
    @joepa
i wounder what Dunmore would have scored if Buckly carried the ball more than 6 times

  16. Dunmore didn’t score on a Dallas team which isn’t suppose to be good last Saturday. Can Dunmore really make another run to the state title?
