  1. Here we go again.. When WC was dominant they said they recruited.. When LaSalle was dominating everyone, they said they were recruiting. When Wood was killing everyone, they said they were recruiting.
Let it be known Steve, every team that has a winning PROGRAM are not recruiting, kids want to come because of the well structured program with committed YEAR-AROUND coaches.
Imhotep’s oline has all been there since they were freshmen. If you know these kids story you wouldn’t say what you say and since they are KIDS I will not share the TRUTH of the obstacles and adversities these young-men have endured and are overcoming.
Do not compare having a good academic athletic programs with recruitment, because all the before mentioned schools are good academic athletic programs.. And when you have good academic athletic programs, the student-athletes will come as freshmen.. That’s not recruiting, that’s marketing.

    Ask Apple..

  2. @ Huck

LaSalle has more depth than most think. Yes they lost a lot of starters but there is a lot of talent coming up. Unfortunately, the way they run their program, those kids never saw a varsity game last year or if they did, it was for 1 play. That is why they never get many looks by college coaches.

And they were lucky to get two new QB’s. That was their weakest link – they had no one to take the position. First three weeks of their season will be most telling.

Just waiting to see the Imohtep vs. LS game.

Can you please username “Steve1” or “Steve2” or “Stevie Wonder”. Don’t want to upset my brother Jive, thinking that was me!!

    Thanks, Steve

  4. @Jive

Edinton wright is who hes talking about, I am a philly coach and have seen him at different workouts. The kid is a monster, the reason you didn’t see him on the roster is cause he was at AAA Boys Latin last yr where he played behind a 3000 yard rusher an nobody saw carries. He has transferred to Rox. But I will validate he is real and is a player.

  5. ????, I agree with you. Just saying its nothing new. They were big last year, too. Like I said, they are more than likely the biggest OL in the state regardless of class. That definitely counts for something, but isn’t always the be all end all.

  6. @Huck
I’m just saying that a line that’s average 6’4 in height and 290 pounds now that’s a pretty impressive line at the AA level. With 3 experience starters on the line to coach the younger ones up is great.

  7. Imhotep the ultimate fraud educational school that is really a recruiting program. Good luck if you don’t make the pro’s. You’ll be on the street where you came from

  8. @Gabe,
I think you are dead on. However, I fell for it. I was gonna suggest Pborough31 check into the kid again because he had the wrong school. Roxborough was 4-7 last year, had nobody rush for more than 239yds, and no Ed Wright. If the kid was/is a stand out, we would have heard his name already, especially playing AA Pub.

  9. Buddy, LaSalle lost a lot of starters, too. On defense they return 4 starters. On offense, they return just two. Now, traditionally having great numbers and the ability to reload rather than rebuild should help. But with a school of the size of NP, then can’t the same be said about them?

LaSalle is fortunate that the get a promising QB coming in. They can thank the Eagles for canning Andy Reid and hiring Chip Kelly for this. I guess the rich get richer. Now, the kid lacks varsity experience, but all indications are that he’s a keeper.

  10. Imhotep’s OL was huge last year and four of them are back. Actually, they moved a returning starter off of there for time being and to strictly DL. They’ll have two sophomores starting there now. The idea is to develop younger kids to have returners next year.

Hard to imagine any line, at any level, being bigger. Still, size isn’t always everything. I remember a West Cath line in ’04. It featured Slocum and Hand, two D-1 recruits. It averaged about 6’3″, 290 LBs across the board. This was before the PCL entered PIAA play, but they lost to a Wood team 29-0 in the PCL Blue final. Sometimes a smaller, fast, talented defense can maneuver around big lines like this.

  11. North Penn @ LaSalle……. week 1

LaSalle should, and probably will, win this one.

I’m just curious to see if NP has anything at all this year. We know LS has returning talent, but NP lost most of their starters, especially offense.

  12. @17th
Yeah I’m excited as well for that match but I’m surprised that the line is so big. But I seen them put Ruff at guard. I feel sorry for who ever is in his way if he stay at guard and end up pulling from the line. That’s a scary sight 6’6 300+ coming towards you.

  13. Peterborough31,
Come on, man. The shameless promotion of your “RB/WR” son (or nephew?) at Roxborough High is obvious and sad. Your heart’s in the right place, but we all know a bs post when we see it.

  14. This question was posted on NorthPaFootball.com’s website and I wanted to see what everyone here thought. What week 1 game are you looking forward to the most?

  15. @????

I have seen the Imhotep line and they are big and your heights are about right. Ruff is a massive MAN at 6-6 and well over 300 lbs. I know he has a couple BIG10 and ACC offers but I am pretty sure he committed to Temple to stay local. The other linemen are all 6-5/6-6 except for one who might be 6-2.

Imhotep scrimmages St. Joe’s Prep in 3 weeks. That line will be the first indication of the Prep’s defensive of lines ability. I am really looking forward to that match up!

  16. I saw a player at a recent combine in PA there is a RB/WR named Ed Wright 6-1 205lb upcoming Jr at I believe Roxborough High. This kid is something special, I thought he was a college player but he’s 16, his build isn’t like any other HS player. I saw him run & catch an I was very impressed. After talking with one of the coaches doing the clinic they think he will be a top rusher in the city and has a bright future. He also said Roxborough has a lot of athletes to compete and a new transfer Soph QB that is amazing to watch run and throw. Good to hear struggling programs coming back.

  17. I saw imhotep practice last Tuesday there o line is mammoth 6’6 T
    6’5 G
    6’1 C
    6’5 G
    6’6 T
Man if that line doesn’t scare you idk what will but I’m not extremely accurate on the 6’6 so yet but he’s a big kid tho but I’m just going on how they looked to the public. They moved the kid temple kid to guard for a AA school they have a huge line. Not saying that there line is solid but it has the size of a NFL team

  18. Guys, before discussing where the AAA 2 final will be played, let’s see a few games played. A lot of upsets occur in the first round. Plus, one upset loss could change seeding. That’s what happened to VV in 2011, a one point loss to Prep cost them home field, had to play on a slow, muddy track at Dallas. I’m sure Abington and Berwick’s coaches are thrilled their teams have been so annointed.

  19. @mark d
Reasons for not playing d2 final at the pit:
    1. limited seating on visitors side
    2. no restroom facities on visitors side
    3. terrible parking
    4. field is in horrible shape in november
If Berwick files a complaint with d2, game will be at Scranton,

  20. @mark d actually you are referencing the game between Abington heights and Bethlehem liberty high school which was played at the pit in 2006. Liberty did not want to play there due to inadequate seating on the visitors side. They had a wide spread fan base and an ENORMOUS band.

  21. @ Ron agree with you on Berwick and Abington being the class of D2 this year.Idont know about Berwick but Abington will be big up frount.the one thing i will disagree with if Abington is the top seed that game will be at the pit.D2 rules say the highest seed is home, no way will Abington agree to move that game in the late 90 they went to court to keep the central bucks west state game at the pit !

  22. In D2 AAA, there is no question Berwick and AH are at the top. Both have talented skill players, good coaching and strong lines. Should they play in the title game, I think it will be very close. From there on down, it gets muddy. I don’t know much about which Lackawanna teams will be strong, but in the WVC, there are a few that could make the playoffs. I think Crestwood has a favorable schedule which almost was enough to put them in the playoffs last year. Crestwood has two very good athletes in the backfield with Popson at QB and Aigeldinger at RB. However, they will have to make some magic happen with their offensive line for this to mean anything. Coughlin is another team that plays tough. The problem I see here is that their stud RB Evans from last year is gone. It will be hard to fill his shoes and he was a huge part of their mild success last year finishing 6-4. Dallas can also squeeze into the final spot. After the first 3 games in which they were terrible, especially on defense, I think the players started feeling comfortable with the new defense. They won the next 7 games, including 3 shutouts outscoring their opponents by some obscene numbers. Statistically, they had the 2nd best defense (only to Berwick) in the WVC. However, Dallas lost a lot of talent. This will make it a struggle for them. I also hear that Pittston may be a surprise this year. I don’t know how much they have returning.

  23. @ rob Berwick and Abington Heights will be the 2 best 2 teams in d2 this year, either in aaa or aaaa. Del Valley and Scranton lost a lot of quality players from 2012. AH should be 10-0 this year. Show and Hollander will be their playmakers, along with a good line should not be tested during the regular season
Berwick has cj curry back at qb, dain Kowalski will be primary running back, but Berwick is 4 deep at running back. receivers are tall, fast, and have great hands. offensive line will be bigger and stronger. Defense will be better than last year Berwick will be tested against valley west at home, if they can beat, look for a 10-0 season
Since AH plays a tougher schedule they will bet more state points than Berwick, but d2 final will not be played at the pit, it will be moved to Scranton. both teams are pretty even so game will be a tossup.
