  1. You heard it here first: LaSalle’s run is over. Expect them to drop off a bit this year. Conversely, expect North Penn to come back strong.

  2. Why do people always have to pick Berwick to be a lock for the District 2 AAA title? Same thing last year, people had them a lock for the 2nd round of states. Could it be the Curry factor?
Abington Heights has a talented team coming back, along with excellent, but less publicized coaching. Berwick couldn’t beat them last year, what makes people think this year will be any different?

  3. Mark there is no way holy redeemer will compete. That must be a joke. WA won’t be that bad they have some talented ubderclassmen and gar will struggle. Dallas will also be decent, they have lots of talent

  4. Dawg93, glad to see someone talk something OTHER than D12! I concur with D3 AAAA, Cumberland Valley with new coach could drop off, we shall see though. Still have to put Wilson on top until someone proves otherwise- Penn Manor, Mifflin should be tough, but will have to go through West Lawn at the end of the season. Wilson loses a lot- but that happens every year then the senior oriented program reloads and moves ahead. Their QB is getting some D1 looks and that always bodes well in WL. Mifflin has some studs back and Vecchio has proven he has a program that also reloads- first game of the season is Wilson. Can Harrisburg bounce back from last year- historically they haven’t put back to back years together too often, hope they can though, it would be great for D3. Penn Manor’s coach is building a nice program, but they need to get over the Wilson hump.

How about AAA or AA? Manheim Central, Lancaster Catholic, Wyomissing, Delone, lot’s of things to consider here.

  5. Class AA Wpial: Aliquippa,Beaver Falls,South Fayette,Seton Lasalle,Mount Pleasant. D10..Grove City,Hickory.. D6..Richland,Martinsburg Central.

  6. D2 AAA Will be a one horse race. Berwick is the class of the WVC. Crestwood, Pittston, Coughlin will all be better. Dallas will struggle until they get a true system in place.

D2AA Lehman, Holy Redemer, GAR, will compete. Wyoming Area will struggle.

D2 AAAA WVW will be the team to beat followed by Scranton in LFC.

Any news on the wide receiver from Dallas. Does he live in Dallas School District? Can anyone shed light. I heard he is being looked at by several D1 schools.

  7. I don’t understand why so many people try so hard to put down imhotep if you look at the facts only three transfers started last year that did not play in the 2011~2012 season so let imhotep continue to represent their city and prove people wrong and I think thats going to happen week 2 when they beat LaSalle

  8. @Pub School

Chester always play the none good pub teams like fels but they never play Washington Frankford or NorthEast nor any other successful team in the pub.

  9. PCl fan/ O L Coach/philly boy-

Can u guys do a solid for the D1/Public School fans in Chester County and Montco? Please take Bishop Shanahan (Downingtown) and PJP2 into the PCL.. We are tired of hearing the parents whine and complain about having to play the Public School teams… They would fit in better within the PCL. Easy wins for you guys, but it makes alot more sense overall.

  10. @Jive

Agree.. If SJP doesn’t win the PCL THIS year, Infante will need to do a lot of soul searching!! If LS takes the PCL 4A this year with this rebuild, his status at 17th & Girard is guarded. Bergen County may seem promising again..
I believe 2014, LaSalle legit contenders/favorites for State 4A title.

  11. Where is all of the action with D-3. Best in class the last few years has been Wilson West Lawn. Looks like a change of the guard may be coming. Like Harrisburg, Gov. Mifflin, Penn Manor and of course Wilson. What’s every ones opinion ?????

  12. Sitting here thinking about this debate and I’m realizing it’s just not worth it. This is like talking to a kids parents about something the kid did that was bad. You can have video, audio, eyewitness accounts, even the kid could say, “yeah, I did it”. However, mommy and daddy sit there and say, ” not my kid, he/she didn’t do anything”. That’s where we are with this. I can’t give you anymore evidence about this matter without wasting countless hours turning every rock over. Then the answer will still be nuh uh. Then when all comes out it will be, so what other teams do it. Yes they do, just don’t get mommy and daddy denying it.

  13. @????
AYF is not a winter league. It is the biggest pound ball youth league in the world, yes bigger than Pop Warner, and it is played in the fall. I do know of the winter league you are referring to. I was involved in that league a few years ago. The last year I was involved Holmesburg beat the Hornets during the season, and in the championship. Pretty good for some NE kids beating, as you say, the best Pop Warner players in the city. The problem with the winter league is that if you are in 9th grade or up, as per PIAA rules, you will lose a year of eligibility if you play. Just to clarify my point because I kinda went backhanded with it. Just because you win in pound ball, it really doesn’t equate to high school. Rhawnhurst wins NESAC at every level, Judge is not very good, nor is Lincoln. The big kids can’t play pound ball because of their size. I think the good teams in high school generally, not always, have great size across the line.

  14. @ jive
AYF is a winter league thing unlimited weight and popwarner puts kids and age groups but homlesburg does not have a power house highschool that would attract attention from kids of there neighbor hood. Also if you wanna look it up the NW Hornets winter league team is made of the best popwarner players in the city and has dominated winter league for 3 or 2 years straight if I’m correct.

  15. @????

EXACTLY!! That’s what JiveTurkey fails to understand. Imhotep is surrounding by power-house youth organizations. NW Raiders down the street, West Oak Lane Wildcats a mile or so up the street, Mount Airy Bantams couple of miles away, Enon Eagles in walking distance, Ivy Hill, Olney Eagles etc.. All these football programs are powerhouses with the BEST youth coaches in the country BAR-NONE!!
Lastly and I will close my case with this; here is the Imhotep 2010 Roster–> http://tedsilary.com/imhotepFB10.htm ..
As you will clearly see, there are kids on here that are not on the 2011 roster but are on the 2012 roster.. Ask yourself why and your answer should let you know the program has good standards that holds every kid accountable..

All other objections will be overruled.

    BTW, I’m a D12 fan!!

  16. @Steve
I’m not gonna discount LaSalle by any stretch. They always seem to be right there, even when you least expect it. They have Shumar coming in to play QB, and Herron is a beast. But like you said, line is young and that’s a tough situation. I just think, as of now, if you’re gonna beat LaSalle, this year might be your best chance. That’s not saying everybody is gonna come close to beating them. I see Prep going undefeated in PA and Imhotep, North Penn, and Roman giving LaSalle all they can handle. Even if they lose them 4 games, which is highly unlikely, they finish 3rd and get Roman for a second time in the semi’s. Nobody, except for Prep this year, beats LaSalle twice in the same season. So losing the title game to the Prep could actually be considered a down year.

  17. Last years 2nd best AYF team in the country,14-15 180’s, was Somerton. Scrimmaged Pop Warner teams and walked right though them. Is that why Ryan is so good? The year before that, Holmesburg was #1 in the nation. My guess is that is why Lincoln is cruising through the Pub like a hot knife through butter.

  18. @Joe Dobb, cant argue much with what your
saying ,but i think Dunmore is a little better in the skill postions. Qb play may decide thouse games, and yes their will be 2

  19. @mark d

D-11 AAAA- Most likely the top dog will be either Parkland or Easton. They might not have the most skill coming back but both always play hard nose football. Liberty has very nice skill for next year but their line play has been suspect.

AAA- Not at all sure…ACC lost their best player and I have no clue what they have coming up.

AA-Catasauqua is probably the team to beat. Played an undefeated regular season but lost to Pen Argyl in the district final. Tons of skill for them back…

  20. On another note imhotep is right down the street form 2011 and 2012 runner up champions of popwarner Super Bowl so kids that play for the northwest raiders come straight to imhotep cause they are from the neighborhood and they want to continue to be apart of something great. Imagine a group of kids with great athletic traits already that have been together for 4 or 5 years already before even coming to play highschool football. Jus saying its talent all around imhotep neighborhood. To have a successful highschool football team to. That’s just crazy.

  21. @Jive

Regarding week 2, this would have to be the year. LaSalle has some good skill people returning including new QB, stud LB but must rebuild entire line save one on each side. Most of their “bigger” lineman are rising jrs. that are not fully experienced. The Gordons/Stienmetz/Dadonna et al. do a great job developing kids whom are dedicated to the ‘team’ concept. On paper, Prep and Imhotep possess much greater talent this year, we’ll see how it plays out.
I see this year as a rebuilding one for LS, but the prospects for 2014 are really strong! Then again, maybe these kids will exceed expectations once again. Perhaps we can meet up on week 2?

  22. @?????, Coach Crosby does a terrific job at getting the kids noticed. Might be the best at it in all of D12. That’s not really the basis of the conversation. The point was made that their team was built, basically, from the ground up with kids starting there in 9th grade. That is simply not true. The kids that swing JV and Varsity are on the Varsity roster. I understand kids play JV and Varsity, gets younger players much needed experience. As with Wood, who also brings in kids after 2 or 3 years at another school, I’m not a fan of that. I’m aware of financial situations, religion, maybe getting in a bit of trouble for a couple kids. Not 10-15. PIAA doesn’t care, so it’s obviously not a big deal to the powers to be. That being said, don’t deny it. Anybody can compare rosters from year to year and see what’s up. Like I said, just don’t deny it. I know you and truth are Imhotep fans and I will be pulling for them in states too. Enjoy the season and the accolades that will certainly come with it.
