Rosenberger is going to the Hatters? Wow huge loss for Pennridge. Rosenberger’s the guy who could turn the program around. Hope things work out for him.

  2. @phillyboy

I know how you feel about La Salle from previous posts and I don’t mean to upset you but the road to the PCL and District 12 championships still goes through Wyndmoor. Ya gotta win them to go to States.

    @Jive Turkey9

Look forward to it. Infante has done a super job in getting the Hawk back “near” the top. Not quite “The top” just yet.

  3. As many of my blog mates know I absolutely root for the public teams in states but one exception might be St. Joe’s Prep. They’re a true blue Philadelphia school at 18th and Girard, baby. Would be pretty neat to see them take home the AAAA title. Can see the fire trucks going down Girard Avenue with blaring sirens on a mid December night.

Thanks again, Herb. Although I live in the National Division area of the Suburban One, I am always interested in the whole league; and with high school football in general, extending to the rest of D1,and all of Eastern PA, and Western PA, sort of in that order. I had earlier mentioned that I wondered if Mike Class at Pennridge would have the cast to get the Rams a year as in 2012; and if North Penn was only a bump in the road this season. Josh Adams at C B South is also back, but the cast there also needs to be as good as 2012. I hope the Hatters get straightened around; again good luck, and thanks.

  5. 1 Nobody in this state touches St. Joes Prep next season, nobody! I’m neither a supporter or fan, however, they will walk away with states.

2 Jeff will bash Prep all year for recruiting, and others will join that bandwagon fast.

3 John Reid, Prep DB, will verbally commit to Alabama.

Side note on the recruiting thing. There is a camp on the weekends for the whos who of Philly HS football players. Guess which coaches fill the sideline at this meat market? It’s a Publc League coaching fiesta. Doesn’t make sense though, because we all know, public schools don’t recruit.

  6. KMac : Hatboro Horsham update– check out PaPreps boards as well. Pennridge DC turned them down. Funny thing is they now are supposedly interviewing younger coach who teaches there. The irony is that i don’t believe they even offered him an interview initially (think they interviewed 7 or guys face to face). Now it looks like they may end up with a 24-26 year old coach….very strange saga. My nephew is in the band but knows a lot of the football players. Seems to be confusion and misinformation between school staff and superintendents office. Keep u posted of I hear any more. Thinking any decent coach will stay away….

  7. @Non-bias fan

I hear this new head coach at Liberty is experienced with linemen. He’ll find was to improve the next group of offensive linemen. Their starting quarterback last year was only a freshman and he did really good for a freshman. He’ll probably be even better this year. They might become one of the best offenses this year even though they might not have the best defense.

  8. Liberty needs to vastly improve with their line play both offensively and defensively. They played swiss cheese defense last year and their OL didn’t give anything a chance. At the end of the year they started to play better and won 3 of their last 4 games. So they fire the HC and turn to a guy with no HC experience at the HS level, change systems, and philosophies and think it’ll get better. WOW

  9. @Herb
Thank you for the information, Herb. I have been wondering what was happening down in Hatter-land. The program has most of the time been competitive. Its nice to get information on the situations on any of the eastern schools, but for me especially so for Suburban One schools which is my primary following. Sorry the situation is down, but best of luck to the Hatter’s!

  10. My nephew is a Soph at Hatboro Horsham. What a mess they have going on done there. Admin asked coach to step down at Thanksgiving. Haven t named a new coach in 2 months. Word around here is They had choice of an HH Alum who coaches QB s at Wood, Pennridge DC, and I was told a top assistant from LaSalle. Offered to Wood guy but he turned them down–week after they already told players he was their coach… Guess there is a reason the program is only winning 1 game and a decent size school has only 40 kids on Varsity & JV combined…my guess is the administration based on their last 2 head coaching choices. Don’t think they are doing what’s best for kids rather they look look for alums or those in building rather than best available. Kids are confused and people are upset in the district. Looks like Superintendent’s Office has created a messy deal here

office is looking for ideal person from area they can control.

  11. I think Liberty could potentially be good this season. KJ Williams is back this season and he’s got offers from schools like Pitt and Rutgers. They also have two good quarterbacks who are both back this year.

  12. Looks like most teams will be young and have new faces next year but SJ Prep has all skill kids back… will be tough to beat.

  13. @Jeff

So the public kids and their parents have no money? Stop it with the whining. There are 4 State Champions and three of them are pubs. And the word “Hate” is a very harsh word.

  14. Jeff, I think the way it is right now is all in all pretty balanced and reasonable. Look, if they absolutely didn’t recruit in any way, shape or form then they would have a hard time being competitive against the top public teams. On the other hand, it’s not out of control like over in New Jersey or down in Maryland/D.C. The private schools in those states are SO much better than the public teams to the point where it has created a bit of a backlash. A number of public schools won’t even schedule regular season games against them. I think when Jersey separataed the public/private playoffs the problem was exacerbated. PA has got it right. It’s a really good balance.

  15. The catholic school programs send tons of kids to IVY’s, Patriot and other top academic schools. Those parents have money to send them to all kinds of camps and give them a huge advantage as a team. That’s what we hate about the catholic schools. Rollie THEY RECRUIT and everyone knows it.

  16. Think St. Joe’s Prep will be formidable in 2013. They had a nice team last year that was pretty young and talented. They could be a growing storm. Coach Infante took his lumps for a couple years, made huge progress last year, this could be the year they take it.

  17. @Brian Hope
Thanks for the insight on the Rams. Every year I think I am going to keep the rosters on all the Sub One teams and during the season check on who’s who to forecast the next season; but I never do. Thanks, again. Many times I have seen an outstanding player in high school have a better junior season than senior season; and it was because of the surrounding cast. Good luck to the Rams!

  18. @Kmac
I believe North Penn will be very good in 2013 and will go deep into the playoffs. For Pennridge and Mike Class I wish them well but they only have about 10 returning seniors, lost 6 starting offensive lineman and their big fullback who lead the way for Class. Out of a squad of 40+ 22 were seniors, hopefully they will have a lot of underclass men come out for the team. Just might be a rebuilding year. Plus everyone will be gunning for them. After all this I think Mike Class will still have a great year ahead of him and Pennridge will have a winning season.

  19. With limited information, I still like to speculate a bit on the coming season. My perspective is basically the Suburban One League and surrounding area. Mike Class is back at Pennridge. Does he have an equivalent supporting cast to that of the 2012 season? Was the 2012 season at North Penn just a hiccup; or a downward trend? Council Rock North freshman QB McIlwane was most impressive for a freshman. Will he get some better results/support? Council Rock South, after two great seasons lost a ton of seniors and had a difficult 2012 season. Is a rebound forthcoming; or were those two seasons very special? Pennsbury I believe, lost a lot of talent, but does have a pretty good looking QB returning. Neshaminy supposedly had a lot of youth this season, could be stronger in 2013.

  20. PhillyBoy, My comment pertains to the human condition. The fact that 3 of the 4 of the 2012 PA state champs were public schools is a fact to be ignored by people who lost along the way to a catholic school.

  21. There’s no need for people to whine about Catholic schools. The top dog in the east and the state champion at the top level, AAAA, are still public schools.

  22. Expect Coatesville to do well with Worley. Alquippa will be fun to watch as well. Spring-Ford has Jones back. In the Central League, expect Garnet Valley, Haverford, Ridley, and Strath Haven to be in contention for the title.
