That’s a good point. I enjoy following high school ball but if it gets too sophisticated at some point it can take on a life of its own. To use an extreme example to illustrate the point, one can look at Oak Hill Academy in N.C. In my opinion, it’s a joke. It’s not a high school with a basketball team but rather an all-star basketball team with a high school. Locally, there was recently a school in Aston, Pa. called Amereican Christian. They recruited Tyreke Evans to play there. They were a flash in the pan. In fact, I think they’re out of existence now. A side note to that: If Tyreke Evans wasn’t recruited to play there then he probably would have played for a Chester team that was 3rd in the nation his senior year. If he had played on that team, who knows, Chester might have been the #1 team in the nation that year.

  2. BIG match up Fri 9/28 in PAC 10. Sring – Ford @ Pottsgrove. Pottsgrove was Last years District 1
AAA champion. Spring -Ford was defending PAC 10 champion and expected to make big push in AAAA playoffs this year. SF won last year 49 -35 @ HOME
Playing @ Pottsgrove is tough road game. Ge there early as this one will be crowded.

  3. @jim I agree with you 100% but I’m pretty sure that they put education first especially because no program wants to get labeled as just being concerned with an athletes athletics and not what they will need in the long run which is an education.

  4. What Imhotep stands for as a school is a complete disgrace. That is by no means any fault of the football team. Hopefully next season they will put a decent team on their non-league schedule and we can see how good they are, or are not. It is very hard to judge how good a team is when they play the type of schedule that Imhotep plays. I’m sure their coach knows what he has in his younger players, and will schedule games accordingly next year.

  5. to Jack, the most important thing at the end of the day is are schools graduating young men to go on to the next phase in life. How many good/great athletes in all sports are not focused on the education side of the equation and just drift off into the night after HS or lower tier college program. We must never let HS kids be pawns in the world of HS/College/Pro sports where one day you’re Cy Young and the next day you’re Sayonara.

  6. I’m not too familiar with the school and it’s mission but Imhotep has a great Soph RB, Soph QB and will return all but one offensive line player. On the defensive of side their secondary has two talented Juniors Safeties a load of young linebackers and a dominating junior DT. I believe they are the deepest far as juniors and Soph

  7. @Jack,
Imhotep QB is 2015, their 2 main guys are both seniors. Comparing them to other good D12 teams I don’t think they have any advantage with their underclassmen. Prep RB’s and QB So’s & Jr’s. O’hara same, Ryan same. Roman RB’s So’s and a Jr, Judge same. Wood Fr QB and Jr RB. West is very young. All of these teams fairly deep with young linemen also. Only senior loaded team I could find was LaSalee, however, they always have kids waiting their turn. That said, I think they will dominate AA Pub through the next few years.

  8. Jack12, with out a doubt, an outstanding group of ball players. The school and mission are suspect though. Look at their website.

  9. seen highlites of D-town East/Coatesville. Always an intense rivalry. Throw out the records or rankings when those two play.

  10. Did anybody see the Downingtown East/Coatesville game? Heard D. East scored a last second touch down to win by 1 point. Must have been intense.

D2 wildcat hasn’t been heard from since Western Wayne beat Susquehanna.

Although, I did see them play Coughlin, and Siclari is the real deal. He is a fast and elusive runner. A threat to score every time he touches the ball.
But, on defense, he plays deep safety and doesn’t help in the run game much. He isn’t a physical player. He does not stick people, or stick his head in there to help in run support. I think he will play wideout in college.

  12. @Joe
i think it the way people look at football in relationship to the game.Other states i think produce a great many skill postions, but if i looking for lineman i am coming to good old P.A !!!!

  13. @phillyboy
Thank you for the explanation; pretty cool. I like all the chatter about the subject, but it is hard to pin it down concisely other than historically where the results do it for us. As to future, or even current season in progress; tough. I harbor no ills against any district, league, or team; but naturally favor the teams and league near where I live; if they do well, I get to see playoff games nearby, thats the key. I’m in D1, Suburban One League, but I fear as some of us do, that maybe D1, and Sub One, has had their day in the sun. Time marches on.

  14. If the ranking of districts was based on depth then district 1 and 7 would be the best. Basically the top 5 that was cited represents playoff success and top teams in the last 10 years. #4 and #5 on the list could possibly be transposed. Perhaps was being a little hard on district 1. The year McKeesport won the state title (2005) Bishop McDevitt had the best team in the state. LeSean McCoy had a season ending injury during the regular season. Wilson West Lawn (they’re district 3, right?) had a really strong team a few years ago but lost to the WPIAL team by a whisker. By the way, had the PCL been in the PIAA at the time St. Joe’s Prep might have won the state title in ’05.

  15. @phillyboy
I agree they are five strong districts. Just have to ask what is the basis for the precise order? Are we talking today; last few years; state titles; historically?

  16. @Phillyboy man are the D1 people gonna come after you!! I agree with you, I think there a lot ways to skin this cat however. If we are talking about best teams on best I would say yes 7-12-11-1-3. IF we are talking about depth top to bottom I would say 7-1-11-3-12. i say that because as good as D12 teams are usually it is only one (Wood, Lasalle, West). This year is a little different with lasalle, roman, and prep. If we look at this as one sole 10-12 team league it is the LVC in District 11. I don’t know how a district comparison can be done especially with how big D7 and D3 are. D3 goes from from reading all the way past harrisburg. If we would be doing this by region, it is D7 and “Old Eastern Conference” (D11, D2, D4) a lot of history there. While talking about this what came to my mind was does everyone think about Pennsylvania not being a “Power” state anymore. California, Ohio, Texas, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and Georgia are so much farther ahead than us today.
