It was proposed a couple years ago to have all of the PCL teams compete in one league. In order for it to happen the vote had to be unanimous. There were 2 no votes, Wood and West. I would love it to be one division, however, some folks know the only way they will see hershey is on a chocolate bar if that happens.
    @Brian
You are right that NP is in a tough league. If they finish first or second though, does that mean the PCL is the toughest league in the state? Considering LaSalle and Prep pretty much made them look like a JV team.

  2. Rankings maybe useless but its fun watching Pennsylvania football. Max Prep rankings, prep 34th in the country, Lasalle 109, Downington East 128. Way to represent Pennsylvania.

  3. @Rollie Ciffo,

Agree NP is in the toughest league in the state, even the Continental Conference with CB South, Pennridge & Souderton all with great teams this year will have a long road ahead. Rankings are useless where half of the LVC & MidPenn teams could not even come close to the competition level of Suburban One football. The Souderton/Pennridge game on October 5th will be a good one to watch probably one of the biggest rivalries in the state.

  4. @Rollie Ciffo I would not say that the PCL is a tough league. It could be a tough league. This year yes it is in 4A with how good Roman, Lasalle and SJP are. But if the PCL wants to be considered with all of those other leagues why not put Wood, Prep, Lasalle, Roman, O’hara, Ryan, Judge, West Catholic put all those teams in one league and make them play each other. Maybe not West because of size. And obviously with the way that wood, prep, and lasalle and even roman scheduling out of conference games they are not scared to play anyone. put those teams in same league with same schedule and that will put them in the class of thos eother leagues. But up until this year all they had was Lasalle, Wood, and West 3 teams in 3 seperate conferences.

  5. @Rollie
Glad to see some discussion on strong leagues again; it has been a while since someone addressed the subject; I fully agree with the leagues you named as strong ones. I think the rankings lead to all the fine comments and banter on the website adding to the interest in the games and season; but the final ranking of the season is “THE” ranking, and even then there is room for discussion on teams beyond the top two. I do not take the rankings critically serious, but very much enjoy seeing them each new week.

  6. Up here in d2
Looks like a show down in AAAA between Del Val & Scranton
AAA Berwick Abington Heighs & Scranton Prep seem to be the top teams
AA looks to be wide open with everyone still in the running
A looks like the Dunmore Bucks are leading the pack
Only week three but you can see some teams rising and some falling but as they say lots of ball to play !!!

  7. @Rover Easton’s second team was not in the game, #85, #77, #18, #32 were all in the game for both TD’s at the end of the game. I am not a Parkland fan but I watched the game and all the starters were in the game.

  8. All you guys cutting on NP realize the Phillie Cath and Suburban conference are 2 of the toughest leagues in PA, right up there with Mid-Penn, WPIAL AAAA and LVC?

Rankings are really useless. One doesn’t really even start getting a sense of who the really good teams are until after week 7 or 8 when the Playoff points start to accumulate to tell the story.

  9. How is Wood still ranked in the top 10 let alone #5 when they were beaten handily by NP, which was trashed by an undefeated team( St. Joe’s) ranked below them?? After three weeks of the season, it’s the only comparison one could use. If NP is out of the top 10, then so should Wood at this juncture. Otherwise these rankings are somewhat senseless.

  10. Prep, and Lasalle is gearing up to be a good one. I think it’s going to be a defensive game. If Lasalle passing game is clicking they could win. Prep defense only allowed two touchdowns in three games. Next couple of weeks should tell who has the edge.

  11. Its possible North Penn could be watching the playoffs from the stands this year. And not that i think they are not any good. Last year the started 1-2 and came in as the 11th seed. They basically had to run the table last year after a 1-2 start. But this year its hard to see them going undefeated in their league this year. Certainly CB south Pennridge or Souderton COULD!!! knock them off. With 3 loses i just dont see them makiong it. But hey i COULD!! be wrong

  12. @John
I have to agree that Prep has a very strong team. LaSalle score was not indicative on the NP game. LaSalle beat them up pretty good and had a couple of bad breaks. Cocoa game was a complete destruction on the coaches part. You can only run sweep left, sweep right so many times against good teams. That being said, the top two teams in D12 are shaping up to be Prep and LaSalle, and until they play, anybodys guess as to who will win is a crapshoot. I’d hate to have to set a line on that game, but I’m really looking forward to watching it!

  13. How can you say Lasalle is better than Prep. If I’m not mistaken NP gave Lasalle a little run until the forth quater. Prep took out NP from the start. Also did you see Prep play that team down Florida. That team was fast and big with top a national ranking running back. That kid finished with 68 yards. I was the first to mention on this site about LB jones, now I’m telling Prep is the best team

  14. I agree LaSalle is very good all around this year they held Ohara to 180 yard of offense and kept NP’s Mayfield in check in week 1. Also Qb Kane has looked like a 3 year starter and with quick receivers like Coleman and Herron the offense is looking very good.

  15. i am a public school football fan, but i got to say la salle is probably the best team in the state. Grant it i haven’t seen north Allegheny play, but i have seen prep, north penn, wood, easton, downingtown east, and roman. LA salle is better than all of them

  16. @ Bill
You can’t go be the final score in the Easton game
Parkland was down by 3 touchdowns with about 7 min left in the game.parkland scored 2 late tds because the 2nd team D was in the game.Easton D is tough the week b4 parkland put up almost 400 yards rushing and barely had 200 total against Easton.

  17. Philly boy, not so fast with Easton. They just barely beat Parkland and there’s Del Val and Scranton who look like they will give them a run for their money.
