@wolfman I had no horse in this race because I am not from the coatsville/lasalle areas but you are making yourself sound like a guy who is using excuses to justify the loss. Stop being a sore loser. Lasalle lost. EVERY team has injuries and great teams, championship teams, find a way to win. Look back at CB West’s last state title. Dustin Picciotti, one of the best blue chip recruits in the nation that year, got hurt early on in that game and did not return. CB West found a way to win the game and the state title. No Excuses bro…you lost. Just eat it.
Colin – I agree it def. goes in cycles. Wood is real good and coached well. Carey will be ready for Cathedral Erie Prep… they stopped “The streak” when he was at CB West… Cathedral prep’s QB is the real deal and will be a good one to watch.
Soup, You are right on the money unfortunately. The west is stacked. It always runs in cycles tho. Like last year in AAA and AAAA there wasnt even a western rep(just because D3 plays D7 in the semi doesnt make them a western to me). This year each eastern team in the final will be playing the best team they have played all year with the possible exception of wood playing LaSalle And SJP. This isnt the case for the western teams. Of all 4 games ill give Wood the best chance to win from the East.
@wolfman, you know I was rooting for LaSalle and thought they would win. No reason to yak at the C’ville fans about showing class, when you, in your post, show none. If this guy didn’t get hurt, that guy didn’t get hurt. If the ball bounced this way or that. If my aunt had balls yada yada yada. If Anzalone didn’t look like a flashback of Henry Hynoski out there maybe Imhotep wins. If Imhotep didn’t play a JV schedule all year, maybe they wouldn’t even have been there. We can if, if, if all day but the scoreboard isn’t gonna change. Accept it and move on. GOOD LUCK this weekend Coatesville.
Hey wolfie you need to chill. I haven’t read anything on here out of line from Coatesville fans. Anybody who watched that game saw Coatesville dominate the game despite the worst officiating in PIAA history. They physically beat LS and only the Refs kept it close.
@raider fan
LaSalle lost its best player in the secondary, who also happens to be their best offensive play maker as well – Coleman. They lost their best def lineman – Spiteri, who also is a stud offensive lineman. They lost a starting middle backer – Eife, who is also an effective offensive player. I was at the game, and I saw La Salle march right down the field early when they had all of their pieces. They were missing in effect six starters with these losses, then the QB Kane late. LaSalle is not deep because of their size, and it would only make sense that Coatesville would have some offensive success because of the depleted lineup.
It is easy to see that this type of success is totally new to you because of your tone, you talk like the most prolific football program in the state has never seen a team like Coatesville before, LaSalle has seen far better then that over the last five yrs and has had much success.
To you and all the other Coatesville posters out there……show some class and act like you have been there before, even know you haven’t.
D1Monster-
Move on, my brother.. If you have to bring up the past, then you are not part of the present.. Everyone realizes who was good in the last few years.. Let the C’Ville fans have their moment! LS has recently had their moment. Your team wasn’t good enough this year!! Coatesville fans deserve their moment, especially with the LS fans talking smack over the last few weeks. I appreciate the C’Ville contingent and what they have accomplished to date. Get a life, bro. Relevancy is periodic.. Right now, LaSalle is not relevant in the conversation.. They lost homie..
@Mika, State-wide or just Eastern PA?
to Harry Aston, not from coatesville, but rooting for them because they are nighborhood kids. That’s how it is supposed to be.
Coatesville Fans,
Relish the great win over LaSalle. The kids are having a great season and have a shot to represent the East and bring home Gold. But some of you are diminishing this team by your crazy comments. They are a very good team for sure, and I know there is excitement over the fact that they finally made it to this point this year, but lets be honest-Ville wasn’t even mentioned in the same breadth as North Penn or LaSalle in the last 4-5 years. When was the last time Coatesville was even relevant in a playoff conversation? My point is, enjoy the moment and cheer them on to victory, but stop with the hatred towards LS and NA and others. Rememeber, you still havent won it yet.
We are going to pick player’s and coaches of the year soon. Who are your picks?
A and AA offensive and defensive players and coaches.
AAA and AAAA offensive and defensive players and coaches.
NA exploits team’s that are fast & not disciplined.I mentioned this in an earlier post;I believe that the east is in a down year and the west is stacked, NA has beat several teams that I think could beat C’Ville…. NA wins an easy one.
Buddy,
Im afraid you are right. The west looks best this year. Its gonna be very difficult for the east to win any of these games. I am an eastern guy all the way but i just cant see any of these games going the easts way. I hope im wrong………..The good thing is it is only one game and certainly anything can happen but each eastern team is a sizable underdog. Just the way i see it
I love the Red Raiders- Cville fans are awesome! Great to see a NEIGHBORHOOD school represent Easten PA- Kids from Delaware,New Jersey Maryland and California should never play for a Pennsylvania State Title! Did not think your D was tough enough- came up big when necessary- need to reduce penalties…….
How does LaSalle get away with playing one less playoff game then anyone else in the playoffs?
Wolfman, you must not have attended the game. becouse if you did you clearly would know the best team did win. Lasalle’s great defense couldn’t stop Cville all night. Cville’s coaching staff went conservative in play calling when Cville was up 42-21 with ten minutes to play. never should have been close. over 500 yds. of offense.you kidding me.
Re: last post
Sorry, should be an “a” not “an” before reply; I originally had “answer” to Josh, but “reply” was more correct; I changed to “reply” but forgot the a – an. I am just a stickler about it. I do a lot of writing.
@Buddy
Regarding your post on a possible west sweep; you may recall I posted I feared that possibility a while ago in an reply to Josh on one of these strings. The west brings four undefeated teams to the table, and you cannot feel Clariton in 1A is not a favorite. I heard the North Allegheny game yesterday; YIKES! We need great efforts from our eastern reps. Interestingly, Wood’s line coach Mike Carey was handed his only defeat by Cathedral Prep in his one-year CB West tenure; but he also beat them twice when he was asst. coach at West under Pettine. The 2A game looks like a possible rematch for Wyomissing; the Quips being very Imhotep-like, at least in stats.
Saw the Imhotep game yesterday. Can see how they score a lot of big plays because of speed. When teams get this deep into the playoffs weaknesses can be exposed that normally aren’t. Vaguely heard of Anzelone. The kid’s a stud. Reminds me a little of Dan Connor. Has power, speed and balance. They just might win the whole thing.
@ Wolfman, you have to win with what you have. But I do agree missing Key players didn’t help. Great Season Eastern Pa fans!
Well, s/o to Wyomissing!! They came to Philly and beat a good Imhotep team! There running game was more effective and passing set up the run. I think Imhotep looked past this team and into the state finals. They’ll be back strong and hungry next year!
P.S.
To the Penn Argyl fan, we are not upset, we had a great season! Destroyed your team and many others. We still hold our heads high!
Yes officiating and injuries are part of the game but you can’t cry and moan about what you can’t control. What you can control somewhat is your play on the field, coaching adjustments and play calling and on all three accounts LaSalle did too little too late and ran out of time. The dropped passes at crucial times was the game in my opinion. If they make the catches LaSalle pulls it out!
Coatsville was a touchdown better last night. LaSalle was unprepared for the athleticism and speed of Coatsville early and that is hard to prepare for except through the course of a game. By the time they figured out how to defense Coatsville they were too far behind. If La Salle didn’t drop all those passes well inside the red zone I think they would have pulled it out. Again Coatsville was a touchdown better on this given night. If they played multple times I feel La Salle would beat them most of the time but it is a one and done proposition so cudos to Coatsville. Hopefully they will represent the east well in Hershey and not get embarrassed. I do have the feeling they can’t beat NA though but I can hope…
@ Warrior Poet
No doubt, ACC got handled again. Wood was gracious to not run the score up. It isnt surprising for a 5 loss team though. It is pretty amazing they were even there. I think it speaks volumes to how weak the East is in general at the AAA level. District 2 and 4 teams got pounded by ACC. How would they have fared? Scary to think about.
If Wood keeps reloading, they should be there every year for a long time to come. Things are cyclical though.
Keep in mind, it was only two years ago that Wood gave up 700 yards to ACC in the semi game and looked average at best. Couple that with the beat down in 08′ in the AAA title game and people were thinking the same thing about Wood and District 12.
@ buddy I never said best team in PA that wasnt me but like i said I never saw or herd of this team size they truly dominated the line both sides of ball think Tep under estimated them and this #24 kid for Wyomissing WOW impressive is all I can say too much of a man for high school kids
