  1. I don’t have a horse in either AAA/AAAA matchup but just some observations.

    AAA
I attended the Lasalle dismantling of Parkland and must say not at all impressed with Parkland. Parkland had tons of hype but I didnt see it. Wood would also have put a beat down on Parkland. Parkland beat ACC by 30 points or so earlier in the year. Parkland struggled to get across mid field vs LaSalle and based on the few games I have seen from Wood, they would struggle against Wood as well. Wood’s line would impose their will on Parkland much like LaSalle did. If ACC could only muster 14 points vs Parkland, and gave up 40+ to Parkland, they could be in some serious trouble vs Wood. Lasalle is better tha Wood this year but not but much. More than anything though is that I find it hard to believe ACC can hold Wood to under 30 points. ACC will have to put up 35 to win this one, and without Nos and Kevin G, I would be shocked if that happened. I love the McDermott kid and all that he has accomplished, but he alone will not win this game. Wood’s game plan, I imagine is to take him out of the mix and force ACC to throw all night. Much like last year, Wood’s enormous/athletic line will impose their will on ACC defense. Wood’s line is not as good as last year, of course, but they are very very good.

    AAAA
Coatesville is putting up some ridiculously scary numbers the last few weeks. They have not played great team, but they also have not played the Little Sisters of the poor either. They are high powered and will throw many different looks at you, and this could cause problems for Lasalle. Coatesville will be the most athletic team LS faces all year. BUT..and here is the BUT..Lasalle has Gordon. If this game is close at half or early 3rd period, Gordon will make adjustments and it could prove to be the difference. I hear they hype about Coateville athletes, but LS has their fair share as well. If LS jumps on Coateville earlier it could prove the difference here. LS has been here th last 4 years.Experience will matter.

  2. @ paul from philly from what i seen on film speed kills i don’t think LaSalle can keep up but it’s going to be fun to watch should be a classic I know one of the starting CB for LaSalle, lives up the street from me so i hope im wrong

  3. @CT Coach

Have to go back in the archives to find out the last team to score over 40 against La Salle. Maybe, and I said maybe, one of the Jersey teams from a couple of years ago but certainly no one from Pa. for a really long time.

  4. Make no mistake, this La Salle team is as good if not better than the Downingtown East team that last beat Coatesville. La Salle 28-14

  5. Finally Coatesville gets a test. I’ve never seen an easier path for a team through the playoffs. Every team they have faced came off an upset of a higher ranked team.

  6. As good as Mcdermott is he is just one running back. ACC is one dimensional they really do not have a pass game and as we saw with parkland eventually being one dimensional can only take you so far. ACC is a quality team but i do not see them beating Wood if Wood loads the box and shuts Mcdermott down.I think only an overconfident Wood could cause an ACC victory. But crazier things have happened it will be interesting to see!

  7. @chuck didn’t you say Dunmore is not that impresssive? That Southern Columbia Should have won? That Bristol was going to win 21-7?? ok just checking

  8. @Dan, Nice to see that you are a proud fan. Just a couple points for you to think about. McDermott is a very good player indeed. However he is averaging 227 per game so I don’t think 200 would be a bad game for him. Getting 35 totes per game also helps with them yardage numbers. As for being one of the best backs in the history of PA high school football? C’mon, don’t let all of that ACC pride blind you. Like I said, he is a very good back, but he wouldn’t be in the top 25 in the past 10 years, let alone in the history of PA. By my posts you can tell that I am not a Wood fan at all, so I wish you guys luck. This weeks game should be a good match-up. Losing may not be a bad thing. Do you really want your seniors to finish their career with a drubbing at the hands of McDevitt? Break out the scooper and rake the leaves in your backyard, I’m sure Wood’s bus won’t get lost, so they will probably shake off the fear and show up.

  9. Is it true that 3/5 of the C-Ville line weigh in at 285, 280, and 290?

If so, this could be tough for LaSalle. Size wins in highschool football, and that’s a clear advantage for Coatesville.

    How is their coaching staff?

  10. Here we go boys the count down is on for friday night under the lights. Coatesville vs Lasalle , this is going to be a really good game between to well coached teams and alot of good talent . They are both really good on both sides of the ball and can score alot of points. So bring your crowd to the game and lets see what you got . C-ville will fill the stands and will be loud. Good luck to both teams, but COATESVILLE on top with the win. COATESVILLE 35 – Lasalle 24 and see you and all of C-ville in [ HERSHEY ] Lets-Go-Boyz C-ville grad 1996

  11. @raiderfan, should be a worthy eastern final. People who know football know Coatesville is the real deal. Don’t worry about the rest.

  12. Just a word to the obnoxious Wood fans. Don’t get too cocky. McDermott is one of the greatest running backs in PA history. 200 yards rushing is a bad game for him. And our line is huge. Nobody has stopped him all year. And we haven’t forgotten last year. This year the game is in OUR BACKYARD.So don’t get lost coming up to bethlehem. See you friday night.

  13. @philly
PA private school teams will rarely ever compete with North Jersey Powers like Don Bosco or Bergen Cath. They are held to a different standard and it is well known they recruit that region from Hoboken, Patterson, Newerk etc. Until PA places the PCL and other private schools into a class where they can openly recruit, they won’t be as powerful.

  14. @raider fan I think there is great respect for Cville out there. It just looks real dumb when all yous cville fans complain about not being ranked high when Coatesville lost to Malvern and DT East. Malvern’s record 6-5 this year, thats bad loss especially when Lasalle beat them 38-6. That being said I think Cville is MUCH improved and has a real good shot against Lasalle.

  15. @Sam i was also at the Dunmore Bristol game and i am with you on bristol play. How ever their was an artical in i believe it called the Philly Berg, where the Bristol coach calls out one of the most respected coaches in the state Jack Henzes for are you ready for this, teaching his players to play dirty !!!Bristol my hats off to you you have great kids may be they can teach their coach something.
    p.s i am not a Dunmore fan

  16. @phillyboy

Just like La Salle is D 11’s Daddy? Bergen Catholic is on the national level along with Don Bosco, etc. Say what you want about La Salle and recruiting if it makes you feel good, those Jersey schools take it to another level. I guess when you think of it, La Salle is D 12’s Daddy too!

  17. Jimbo should be a great game. Lots of respect for Lasalle. dont think much respect for Cville is out there based on there rankings. just want the people no they can ball.

  18. The thing that gets me about LaSalle, the time I was really rooting for them, when they played Bergen Catholic, why couldn’t they play like that then when they were defending the pride of PA football so to speak? Bergen Catholic was their daddy.

  19. @CT
You were right on. The RB from Bristol is a very good. I am sure we will hear about him in the next 2 years.

  20. @tsaf77 I told you about that bristol RB the kid is a 10th grade Bristol should repeat Congratz to imhotep ,lasalle ,wood, dunmore
