  1. OL: What are you, a junior high student? Disagreeing with someone is one thing, but you specialize in just being a pompous, condescending blowhard ( not the word I really had in mind, but I want Mika to post this)
You, and the school(s) you try to represent, would be best served if you said nothing at all.

  2. @OL Coach while I certainly agree with Jim being largely uninformed. I wouldn’t say that the Philly schools have come in and beat everyone up. In fact I think 95% of the people wanted the Philly schools in to crown true state champions. In fact in 4A since Philly has come in District 11, 12, 3, and 7 each have a title. In 3A District 7, 4, 11, and 12 each have a title. In 2A District 10 and 12 have one and 3 has two. I wouldn’t exactly call that kicking everyone’s butt. I will say this anyone who wants to seperate public and private schools is scared of competition plain and simple. To be the best I want to beat the best no matter who it is. What does a state title mean if they hand 24 of them like they do in jersey. The way we do it in Pa is the right way. So I agree with you, however your post is the reason people dont like the Philly schools, not because your successful in football, most of us wanted you in the PIAA because we wanted true state champions and make sure the level of PA football was as high as possible.

  3. you’re right brian except it has nothing to do with school choice and everything to do with building stacked teams. One day you’ll get it

  4. Cant we get off this Public School vs Private School stuff? I’m sure most people are for school choice and where a family decides to send their son or daughter for whatever reason academics or athletics is really no business of ours. Athleticaly both programs are equally good.

  5. colin, I couldn’t resist! You hit the real frustation button. At least the kids going to a Catholic school will receive discipline, academic instruction and maturity awareness! Thank you for bringing that up. Most fair minded people dispise underhanded ness and the moving around part. As adults, we need to be concerned these kids don’t wash out in the game of life when it’s all over. More times than not that happens right after HS. Good luck to your team and to all the players who truly love to play the game for the right reasons.

  6. usatoday.com ranks the top 25 high school football teams in the country. They used to also always rank the top 10 teams in 4 geographic regions (east, south, midwest, and west). Can’t seem to locate the regional rankings online. Does anybody out there know if they still have that? And if so how can it be accessed online?

  7. Jim,

Beings that you drug me into this i will make 1 more post. Heck i just wanted a report on the Imhotep/Strath Haven game. You made a comment on my post so naturally anyone would comment. I read you comments on this issue and agree with you on many of your points. In the David Williams case his school,West Catholic was scheuled to be closed along with several others by the Diocese of Phila. Anyone that lives in the Phila area saw it plastered all over the news for weeks so it is legit. However the school did get a 2 yr repreive to stayed open. By that time he had already made the choice to attend Imhotep and wasnt looking back. Its highly unlikely that he would have transfered to Imhotep with out the fear of closure. West Catholic is a serious contender for the state title without him so imagine how good they would be with him. So hence i say i dont see the athlectic benefit for him to just up and leave. It was the 2nd school in which he was attending to close on him 3 years………….I agree with you 100% with moving on to a different topic. This recruit/public/non public thing is always a hot topic. You are one of the few guys mentions the movement of kids between public schools. Its always the non public that gets the bashing. I always found it funny to see the Catholic league bashing and never any bashing of the Public league. So many kids move from pub school to pub school its crazy. Just take a look at George Washington Or Ffrankfords rosters. Kids are from all over the city………….on to other topics

  8. Going to Souderton vs Unionville and NP vs Wood
Both should be great games. Taking Souderton & NP. Have to root for the Continental which all of the teams in the league look great with maybe the exception of Hatboro who lost their best running back to injury.

  9. Colin, think about what I tried to explain how non publics starts slowly and then bam year after year of good solid teams! You mentioned Imhoteps basketball team, so that is first then football, then… go to their website, quite an interesting school to say the least. Thats a separate debate. PS The kid thought his school was closing? really? His parents can pick the phone up and make a call or drive to the school and ask an administrator. Come on man, I dont need to be a santa claus to know a snow job. I’m dont want to clog up this forum anymore, so no more posts on this and we can agree to disagree on kids moving around schools to play sports.

  10. Jim,

Coming into the season I thought Imhotep would be a good team. They had many returning players from a team by Public league standards was good last year. I cant say how many kids they had just “show up”. Having the best running back in PA transfer in would make anyone good. As far as i know Imhotep had 2 significant tranfers this season. David Williams and another player whosw name escapes me. In williams case jeez, the kids thought his sschool was closing. there may be others but i dont know for sure. You mentioned that they are the “perfect example of your point”. If you are refering to the Imhotep basketball program i can see your point. But as far as the Football program i havnt seen the “perfect example” of what you mentioned. Can you please expand?

  11. Easton has a very good football team, but it’s early in the season. After one game in which Easton completely dominated Pennsbury doesn’t make a season. A lot can happen and it’s only week 1.

With that being said, Easton always plays teams in the playoffs tough. Heck, Easton lost twice to Nazareth last year both by 7 points. In the second meeting they didn’t have their top RB (Middleton) who was their leading rusher and I believe had the most catches on the team. Easton returns a ton and will play good defense once again…if they can get Simpson (a sophomore) going and he stays healthy…it’s the best back Easton has had in the PCL era of the PIAA. 290 yards and 5 TD’s against Pennsbury. Will Easton each that game? Who knows? Will LaSalle win the PCL and D-12? Who knows…

Hope it happens because besides 2008 Liberty team that didn’t meet LaSalle, someone from D-11 wants to beat them. Liberty would of mercy ruled LaSalle that year.

  12. A couple of thoughts…..

#1. Why compare North Penn to LaSalle. I think you would need to understand if LaSalle graduates 240+ and NP….we know how much they graduate. How could LaSalle compete and actually be better than NP on a yearly basis? Now I am definitely not saying they “recruit” but for a fact they have a large area in Philadelphia and the burbs to get kids from. So if you had a territory and 240 kids per class you’d never win more against NP than lose.

Your argument is like saying a good PA high school basketball school should beat Oak Hill Academy because they have like 110 kids in their school.

  13. Week 2, Colonial League D 11, Game of the Week is the Roughies of Catty visiting Southern Lehigh, who is coming off a beatdown from the N.L. Dawgs. Game of Interest is Saucon Valley, who played Pen Argyl tough, visits Bangor. LVC, Game of the Week is Easton traveling to Parkland. Also, a Game of interest is Libery goes to Whitehall, both teams are 0-1. LVC D 11, schedules are very tough. check it out. Enjoy the games. Semper Fi!!!!!!

  14. Philly, read it again. I have two issues and one is kids moving around districts in the public schools to play on other teams who can help them up their college prospects or be on a winning team, sometimes after the season to play in another sport. The main argument was that I SAID Public and non Public SHOULD SPLIT OFF FOR THE PLAYOFFS. I think its great they play during the regular season. With the logic of those who don’t get it, why even have A/AA/AAA/AAAA schools then? The reasonis that is one fair way to try and balance out inequities of male student population and kids playing on a team. I watched an excellent public school lose in the first round to a stacked ACC two years ago. This team should have gotten 1 maybe 2 wins at least. That is what I am saying to you people who look at a snapshot and not the whole picture. NJ finally after many years of these programs that are now like Bosco, #1 in the country much overdue pressure changed their system. two reasons were parents were furious with top kids getting picked off from their schools leaving big holes to fill for coaches who try to build programs around up and coming kids… and good solid public school teams getting embarassed by powerhouses. Your argument sounds like public safety. We’ll put up a traffic light after X amounts of fatalities. PS I see a post for IMHOTEP, tell me these kids just magically showed up for a better education, that entire program is a perfect example of my point.

  15. Wondering if anyone who was at the Imhotep/Strath Haven game could provide a report. Coming into the year i thought Imhotep would be a good team but i didnt think anything like this. Are they that good or Is SH that bad this year. Was very suprised to see a 68-13 score.

  16. although this western wayne guy says this siclari is the ultimate weapon, from the area and not heard to much about him. If he is good I am sure I will. Follow high school football not much talk about him here! I do believe however Tyler Phillips running back from VV Cougars was at Penn St for a visit this weekend and enjoyed the visit with his old teamate Nyeem Wartman. where it goes from there I dont know!

  17. Can’t believe North Penn is still in big school top ten. Saw them Friday night, they are overrated. Will lose 4 games this year, at least.

  18. Am i reading this score right? Imhotep 68 Strath Haven 12?…If true is Imhtep really that good or is this a weak SH team? I know coming into this year Imhotep team had a lot of kids returning and then picked up David Williams from WC. If someone was there i would love to hear a report.
