  1. PCL Fan, you are absolutely right about LASalle. I stand corrected. I was referring to the no boundary and impressiveness comment taaf77 was claiming. Just telling him some catholic programs are allowed to enroll kids from all over but that’s not what makes them quality programs. It’s their tradition and their character of their kids. St Joes, Wood and Lasalle are excellent programs, not just good kids and staff but excellent programs and that’s very impressive.

  2. O L coach. I gave names associated with a coach. You gave me a short rant on credibility. Where is yours?
    On the notion of your point on AA class. With all due respect, NO KIDDING. I wasn’t talking about their enrollment. I was talking about BOUNDARIES.

  3. @tsaf77

    Imhotep is AA based on their enrollment; it has nothing to do with where the enrollment comes from.

    Nobody can match the top 5 coaching staffs in D2? Please, be real if you want any credibility!

  4. Facts get your facts straight. The issue with the Imhotep roster is Chatmon and Williams. The top players on their side of the ball and both transferd in.

    On LaSalle not sure what you mean by every county. Their players come mainly from two.

  5. @JiveTurkey

    Ted Silary 2011 Imhotep roster.. http://www.tedsilary.com/imhotepFB11.htm

    Ted Silary 2012 Imhotep roster.. http://www.tedsilary.com/imhotepFB12.htm

    Same kids.. To be sure, here is the Ted Silary 2010 Imhotep roster.. http://www.tedsilary.com/imhotepFB10.htm

    This is without considering some players who play JV and don’t make the Varsity roster, so if you see different names, then that kid may have played JV the year before or didn’t play high school ball. But there are no names on there that were big time players from other schools but #33 and #24 and we know their story. The facts..

  6. @tsaf77
    You stated: “Not taking anything away from the kids however when your area exceeds normal AA population boundaries it isn’t as impressive.”
    You may have a point but I ask you, would you include the Catholic schools in this statement who has no boundary limits such as St Joes who has Jersey kids playing for them, Wood who has a wide variety of kids, and LaSalle who has kids from every county?

    @Jim
    Why would you have a problem with Imhotep’s Mission Statement? Are you prejudice because its an Afro Centric school that centers around African culture? There are nationality charter schools all around Philly that centers around Chinese culture to European culture of teaching. I have no problem with this especially how some inner public schools are failing our children throughout the country. Please explain why you would have a problem with cultural centered schools then tell me are you a Notre Dame fan like myself who is Afro American but loves the Fighting Irish. Also Jim, here is a Philadelphia Inquire article reporting the success of Imhotep like 100% graduation rate, 95% of their students being accepted and going to college .. http://www.examiner.com/article/superintendent-ackerman-to-make-first-visit-to-imhotep-institute-charter-high-school …. Just want to make sure you have facts and not rumors. Lastly, can you provide names of who Imhotep recruited? They have two players who played a significant amount of high school last year for another program. #33 who transferred because his school was closing and #24 who got expelled from his school, that’s it!

    @JiveTurkey
    According to Maxpreps, which is the official PIAA stat and roster website, here is Imotep’s 2011 roster.. http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/imhotep-charter-panthers-%28philadelphia,pa%29/football-fall-11/roster.htm, and here is their 2012 roster.. http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/imhotep-charter-panthers-%28philadelphia,pa%29/football/roster.htm … Look’s like the same kids to me.

    Bottom-line is this, maybe the new Head coach coming from a championship caliber team that competed in a quality competitive Catholic League, knew what it takes to build a winning program. This team wins because they are very discipline. A fresh breathe of air from SOME of the regular PL teams. They hustle everywhere on the field and back and forth to the locker-room in straight line numerical order. You don’t see that in public league programs. Discipline builds character, character builds believers and a believing child can win at anything they put their minds too. Their staff is big in numbers, looks young and has several D1 and NFL players.

    Here are the facts gentlemen and I know its hard to comprehend.. But yes, a public league school will be representing D12 2A in the State tournament and we have to accept the changing of arms. The last electoral race proved that. Stay warm!

  7. Coatesville is downright nasty. When the momentum started to shift for Neshaminy last night and they pulled within a touchdown, C’ville clamped down and went into domination-mode unlike I’ve ever personally witnessed at a HSFB game.

    And what a perfect matchup for the D1 final – a Spring-Ford team that Coatesville destroyed last year 60-28 on the road in the first round of the D1 playoffs.

    I’ve had Coatesville as my pick for D1 champ since the brackets came out… They have proven they are a championship-caliber team, and all signs point to them being a prohibitive favorite… but I think they are in store for their toughest test of the year.

  8. Parkland 49-41 over DV. It appeared to be a shootout in the first half. Then Parkland secured a 49-27 lead and it appeared they had this game. DV throws up a jump ball scores. Then they recover a nifty onside kick and score again. Hold Parkland and get the ball back, fumbled it away, hold Parkland again. They get to the Parkland 41 yard line. Throw a hail mary and almost caught.

    I wasn’t rooting for either team but wow what a contest. I am glad I went to see this contest.

  9. Coatesville over Neshaminy 63 – 28 what a crazy game and the stands looked full from C-Ville side. Good luck to plays that fast team that can do anything on the field .. C-Ville grad ’96’

  10. ???????
    No problem. Just remember, when you come on here and post, you are reperesenting your school. Just like when you run out on to the field.

  11. Mike, thats what I thought about parkland. Two great teams, I dont hear about any off field issues so seems good group of student athletes going at it and should be a great game. Good luck to both!

  12. ???? SOme basic research found this:
    Imhotep Institute Charter High School, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a charter high school. Based on its state test results, it has received a GreatSchools Rating of 2 out of 10.

    Help us understand is this charter school for helping kids academically(everyone here wants that for all our children) or open for honest and open discourse for being challeneged on the imbalance with it’s athletic success. Again it’s not about the kids, it’s the adults in the room who muddy the waters for their gain

  13. @Jim don’t listen Jeff Verdaski he thinks Parkland plays a 3 man front. They are a 4-3 and he thinks I don’t know. My son starts on the defense, so having seen them for 12 weeks I am positive they are 4-3 and play 3 man front on passing downs.

  14. @ jim
    Have you ever been in North Philadelphia you try in study and see if you can focus with gun shots and the police alarms going off all the time. Also, with the violence and drugs that goes around in my neighborhood you find out and see how easy it is to study. That’s why i do study hall in the morning and i can get help by teachers if i don’t understand something.
    @Jim B
    My bad about the mistakes i was just typing to type. Never knew it had to be perfect even tho my GPA is 3.4 but ill make sure its correct next time. Thanks for the notice.

  15. hate to see the jabs at schools, but 80% of us want to see fairness, good sportsmanship and no BS. In the end the kids who excel in the classroom and play good clean hard football will be the winners.

  16. Go Tep, baby! If they take home the state title, will be the first football state championship for a public Philadelphia school and only the second team overall within the city limits of Philadelhia, West Catholic being the other.

  17. ????, why can’t you just go home at night like the rest of america and study. How does imhotep change that? Same neighborhead, same home.School is a front

  18. People say we didn’t play anybody people thought west catholic was gone kick us out but what happen we proved everybody wrong we just hungry this year and when we beat pub teams they all tell us represent the pub win it for the pub so when we hear things like yall are carrying the city on your backs and your league and when people drive by your practice and say LETS GO TEP or one dude came by and said who is that team scrimmaging out there we answered thats a practice thats how hard we go when we at practice people dont know how bad we want it this year.
