  1. @ Mikey

Your right i play for imhotep and it keeps me out of the streets at night it also it gave me a chance to get a real bind with my teammates like this is why we are so good this year cause of how people say public school this scouting that like football is football no matter how you put like lasalle just throw a scholarship at my cousin and he lives all the way in south philly and plays for the sharks 135 so why cant imhotep scout from neighborhood teams like wild cats and raiders. But imhotep doesn’t start into 9:40 every day but football has to be there 8:15 for study hall or film session like we really going hard out here for this just so we can show people how the public
league can do so for the people thats gone hate let them hate and for the people thats gone stick besides us thanks but no matter what we gone ball till we fall and you think this year is bad you havn’t seen nothing.
    #PANTHERNATION

  2. In observing the overall issue with Imhotep. Sounds a little like investigation needs to be in place with the PIAA. Team is unheard of until this season and breaks out to be the best team in AA in Eastern PA.
Not taking anything away from the kids however when your area exceeds normal AA population boundaries it isn’t as impressive.
What is impressive is a team such as Dunmore, who is a single borough district (one of the last 2 left in the state) and wins on a consistent basis against good competition. I am not from Dunmore, but that is impressive. When Dunmore lost games, it was never because of coaching, it was always a talent issue. Imagine if the most talented kids from Scranton went to Dunmore and they remained single A. We would call them Clairton.
I don’t add Southern C. to the impressiveness because they have always had a great scheme going with Columbia Mon. Vo-Tech to keep them single A and reap the talent pool.
Hard to see Imhotep defeat the perennial power of the Quips anyways. They have been around the block many times and have the history to show it.
Don’t mean to burst bubbles but this is my opinion and a little food for thought on how winning HS Football games is more important than playing within your district.

  3. @ O L Coach of course NA would be up by a ton vs a small public school. That is the point I was making to the poster who said below that that Imhoptep would beat any big school in the state. Don’t you have film to watch? Wait your most likely not in the playoffs becaus you spend so much time acting like a jerk on a message board

  4. Parkland should beat DV tomorrow afternoon. Del Val has a nice team but the Parkland D has improved. They will get enough stops and build a lead that DV won’t overcome. DV’s defense by the second half will start to get gashed by the Parkland ground game. DV will throw the ball with success but won’t be enough. Parkland 41 DV 24.

When it comes to Philly WC and Imhotep type schools…AA & AAA schools…eventually smaller schools will get sick of them recruiting to the highest degree and winning and will want them out of the PIAA…mandatory AAAA playoffs they should play in. Only a handful of schools have the capabilities of having the athletes to compete. (Wyomissing is a nice team but they will get murdered by IMHOTEP…you have no idea Mark D.)

  5. Bravo to Imhotep for having a state championship caliber team. If they attract some better players, so be it. The Public League has been the doormat of the PIAA, so to see people complain about their success is ridiculous. If they make it to Hershey I’ll have to check out the Saturday AA/AAAA doubleheader with a trip to Shady Maple to boot.

  6. OL coach, have you looked at their site? Surf the entire site, mission statement… and if I have to explain why I have a problem with it, then I can’t help you. Go to public school, try to be a good student, paly and hopefully excel in sports and make the entire community proud. We struggle finanically, but our kids go to public school and work hard in the classroom and on the field. No excuses or blaming other people for our lot in life.

  7. CT coach honestly has it completely right, I live in Philly but do not have to worry about some of the struggles that the inner city kids have to deal with. It’s really life or death in some parts of Philly and if a kid can play hoops or football there is nothing wrong with him wanting to go to Imhotep to play if it keeps him out of trouble, gets him a college education, and maybe along the way win a State Title or 2.

  8. Imhotep is the best thing that has happened to Philadelphia public league sports no matter if there recruiting or not many of the other large 3A and 4A teams do it to its justified bacuse there Catholic or suburban teams and not a pubic school from inner city Philadelphia

  9. Imhotep has two or three Basketball state chips and is about to get one in football thats attractive to a kid that want to play for a good team and go on to play college at what ever sport they play,so yes they go there for sports whats wrong with that sports kept me out of trouble as a kid to play sports you have to keep your grades up and be a good citizen so if sports is the carrot keep dangling it you learn life lessons through sports!

  10. Look what program that is constantly winning year after year is not recruiting Wood, laSalle, West Cathlic, Washington,SJP to name a few I live in southwest philly and my neighbor is lasalle,s starting corner back and his little brother plays RB for Haverford school to great athletes…in the inner city with all the choices a kid has you have to fined a way to attract kids to your school not like little townships where there only one high school to go to I practice on the same field with a middle school team and i havent got one of those kids in two years I could complain but why just have to get up and get the kids… all schools recruite some just have more to sale a kid on

  11. Imhotep hides behind being a so called charter school. if you dont think kids go there to play sports, you are being disingenuous. Nothing against the kids, its always the adults in the room

  12. @ Northwest, Did you really call Boys Latin a tough AAA team? BL has been around for only 3 years and has lost their last 4 games by a combined 108 points. I was pretty surprised by the Imhotep WC score, and am not too proud to admit I didn’t see that trashing coming. All of the folks on here talking about Imhotep recruiting, the proof is in the pudding. Cross referance last years roster to this years. Whole lot of new names, not sophs or frosh, juniors and seniors. They have only 1 two way player because they have brought in a ton of new talent. It is what it is. PIAA did nothing about Wood doing this, and they will certainly not look into Imhotep. Sit back, watch the games, and see how it plays out. Alliquippa is a machine, let’s see what happens in a few weeks..

  13. Imhotep is a great team cant take that away ftom them there schedule is what it is there a small AA school in public leaugue sjp, wood and lesall are big schools with way more money and resourses so it would be unfair to compare to big AAAA Programs I coached against schukill haven in 08 at that time best hs team i evere seen imhotep is in that ballpark and what makes great teams is being able to rest starters imhotep guys never are gased because only one guy goes 2 ways thats extreemly rear in the pub dont think i have ever seen that in the pub….on that note let me go call some 8th graders everybody enjoy the holidays

  14. Please enough with the Imhotep stats, if Lasalle or Prep played that same schedule they would’ve blown all those teams out. Stick with the lower level teams. Now I must say I do have Imhotep in the AA state finals.

  15. NW Philly,

Just want to correct you on two things:

1.) Imhotep has scored the most points in Eastern PA, not the entire state. Aliquippa leads the state with 624 points scored in 12 games. Imhotep, through 13 games, has scored 584.

After this weekend, Imhotep will probably have the 5th-highest total for team points scored through this week of games. Port Allegany, of District 9, has 582 points in 11 games and plays Saturday. Clairton has scored 565 points in 12 games and averages 47.1 ppg. Cathedral Prep, of District 10, has 564 points in 11 games and faces a team it already humbled, 47-0, for the District 10 AAA championship.

2.) Imhotep has allowed 65 points in 13 games – the least in Eastern PA, but not the entire state. Aliquippa has allowed the fewest points, with 42, in 12 games and plays again Friday.

Imhotep is having a great season and deserves recognition for it. But their totals for points scored and points allowed are only #1 in Eastern PA, not for the entire state. Sorry if I burst your bubble.
