  1. Hats off to Del Valley what a night their o line had man handled Scranton.Good luck against Parkland
@Ron know you didn’t like the outcome but that must have been a fun game to watch

  2. @phillyboy,

I am just a fan of HS football. I’ve gotten to see Parkland play and saw their game against PV this past weekend (37-0 Parkland win).

Parkland tends to play very soft pass defense out of their 3-5-3 scheme. They don’t get much pressure unless they bring 5-6 players at the QB. Tend to sit back in soft zone and that is where the trouble lies. DV passed the heck out of Parkland in week 1 and that is their best attack to win the second meeting. #7 Elder from Parkland is small but OMG he’s an athlete. i’ve seen 3-4 games where he jumps a route and picks it off for 6.

I wouldn’t pick against Parkland in this contest but DV definitely will be a stern test. If they get past them then the LaSalle game will be a dozy!

  3. Pretty sad when Pennsbury players & students make death threats to some of the Pennridge players. Must come from the parents and coaches. I hope the Authorities prosecute to the full extent of the law. I would ban Pennsbury from any playoff games for the next couple of years. I wish Pennridge the best, they’ve been fun to watch.

  4. think you are right james- team 3 years ago way over rated- not a very good foundation of interior lineman- multiple big ego skill kids and QB never imroved- team last year not very good, however, defense this year absolutely district worthy- when you advance to 2nd round of play-offs and commit 5-6 turnovers, guees you are not good enough- unfortunately distict one will not get by LaSalle anyhow…….

  5. I know, I know. Was like ‘Oh, snap’, after last comment. Del. Valley is still alive and well. They’ll have something to say against Parkland. Totally respect how they put together a formidable team that the community can rally around. But it’s about to strike midnight on this cinderella season.

  6. @ James

You could see that from a mile away. I had them exiting stage left in the first round but they managed to stay alive one more week. The thing about Ridley, they don’t play any tough teams at the beginning of the year. They just play their Central League opponents, some mediocre, some slightly above average. Then when the playoffs kick in, it’s a little bit of a reality check. That said, the team they had a few years back in ’07 was really good. They lost to Parkland in the eastern final at J. Birney Crum. That was a hard nosed team with great defense and smash mouth rushing by a kid by the name of Hodges.

Speaking of Parkland, can’t wait for Parkland/LaSalle game. Other than the Prep games this should be LaSalle’s toughest opponent yet. Apparently, Parkland has been rolling lately. I haven’t been to many games this year in person, but I tell you it’s time to get out of the house for this one.

  7. Imhotep Charter looks to be a mover and shaker in AA championship bracket. Should be no surprise that teams must get by a PL team to move on. Lancaster Catholic had to meet West Catholic 3 times in four years, we had very challenging games each time, with success twice, each which gave LC the opportunity at the school’s first and second State championships in program history. Show them all what you have Imhotep and never look past the game at hand!

  8. Another Year, another Overranked and Overrated Ridley team.

1 Playoff Win in 3 Years. I can imagine people over in Folsom aren’t too happy.

  9. Glad to see Coatsville handed Wissahickon there ASS ha ha.

I sat with some Wissahickon fans at the DTE game and all they did was cry to the refs about the game. One thing for sure. Wissahickon wont be back in the playoffs for a while.

  10. Actually agree with Phillyboy. The talent level on La Salle’s state championship team was better than this year’s team. If the weather conditions prevent them from throwing freely they could have a tough time against a good team. Herron has been great in the wildcat but they don’t have the ground game they had when Abdul-Rahman and Wade were at RB.

  11. My picks for AAAA:

    Coatesville
    Neshaminy
    Pennsbury
Ridley (although I wouldn’t be surprised at an upset since they didn’t look very impressive last week)
    LaSalle
    Parkland
Delaware Valley (this could be the best game out of all of them)

  12. @ James Parmes

Excellent point. At the HS level it’s rare to have shut down corners. North Penn had one back on their state champion team in ’03 with Akins, but yeah it’s rare. The more practical way to handle it is to put pressure on the QB. That’s what Bergen Catholic did a couple years ago at Plymouth-Whitemarsh when they had their way against LaSalle.

  13. @Phillyboy,

The key to stopping/slowing a good passing game in HS is pressure on the QB. Not that many teams really have shut down corners so it’s rare to matchup like that. If you put pressure on the LaSalle you have a chance to slow their passing game down. LaSalle has a very nice team but they are definitely very beatable this year. Some of the other years I thought their team was better. The East is wide open this year in AAAA.

  14. @tiffy, comparative scores don’t work at this level of the playoffs. Whoever is “on” their game going forward will come out on top. Parkland is playing great ball but it only one average game to send a team home.

  15. @phillyboy

If the passing game aint there, put Herron in the Wildcat. He opens up alot of options. But that’s only if Kane is having a bad day. Herron scored a TD by running, passing and catching in two games this season. I think that’s a PCL record.

  16. Tiffy whitehall played parkland in week5, then won 5 straight including knocking easton off the pedistal. Everyone is better week 11… Have to play em

  17. Parkland football

The way they have played after the first two weeks has me believing they could very easily make a run to the state finals. They have a decent passing game, depth, size, and three really solid backs with quickness and speed. Their QB also can run.
DV beat Whitehall 46-45 in OT. Parkland destroyed Whitehall like 53-24….they size and power running wore down Whitehall…much like it did to Easton in the second half.

DV and Scranton are both formidable opponents and I mean no disrespect to either when I say that unless injuries hurt both their RB’s…they should win the subregional. It is the way I feel and I guess until the games are played it’s all talk. Parkland has improved and what I saw out of DV doesn’t lead me to believe so. Anyways, Scranton may beat them!

  18. LaSalle’s passing game is lethal. They throw pin point passes, run crisp routes, and rarely drop balls. Are there any teams left that have a really good pass defense? That’s the key to beating LaSalle. If their passing game can be diffused, they’re toast. Easier said than done though.

  19. @Josh, well LS – Scranton can’t be your Eastern final but it sounds like you have LS in Hershey.

You must have Scranton over Parkland

    LaSalle over Scranton

and LaSalle over who in the Eastern final?
