  1. @ KMAC:

Afraid you’re right. NP must definetly win out, and they will still need help.

Can’t remember when they didn’t make the playoffs. Has to be at least 12 years, probably more.
I know they played CB West for the D1 final in ’99, then never was out of the playoffs since, until possibly this year.
Very tough for us NP fans. One gets used to it.

  2. @JIM
NO it was the whole frist half with Valley View having a touchtown called back just before half.
Valley View was down to a freshman tail back in the second half. agree Del Valley offence is a machine that kid is a great Q.B pluse you have to remmember Valley View has no idea how to make adjustments at the half. my whole point is Scranton has a much better o line and running back than what Del VAlley seen friday they give up 300 pluse yards to Scranton they will loose

  3. All this football season, i have been told that archbishop wood will bash any d2 team in the state playoffs, including berwick. Then i see that wood defeated lansdale catholic 28-14. lansdale cath. is 4-3 which is just an average team. I am convinced wood is overrated this year and can be beaten by anybody in the state playoffs including berwick.

  4. Mark d, 327 over 5 players and I think the 18 points were in the first qtr and the first half of 2nd qtr. After that it looks like Del Val was scoring at will winning by 31 and the D held VV scoreless for 3 and ahlf qtrs with 1st team D out in 3rd qtr. Not so fast, scranton’s O better watch film all week before they take that hour drive to play at Del Val.Lots of newpapers being sold this week!

  5. Playoff chatter.
Looking at the standings for D1 4A playoffs it would appear that the usual D1 stalwart North Penn Knights (4-3) have the toughest road ahead; with Pennridge, a much-improved C B West, and Souderton still left to play. At present, I can see no equal of three tough games on any of the other 22 playoff teams either tied with the Knights (Upper Dublin) or ahead of them. Some have 2 tough games ahead, and some one. As far as projected wins this coming week I have likely 19 of the 22 teams winning also, further complicating the Knights’ task. And, in situations such as D’Town West-East, a loss to either will not dim their chances so much. If the Knights’ pull through and win all three, they will still need some help with other teams dropping games they likely would be projected to win. A D1 4A playoff without the Knights? Unheard of!

  6. @JIM
Gave up 347 yards rushing to a at best 5-5 AAA team with a third team tail back that great defence better buckel up for Scranton !!!!

  7. Interesting tidbit, Cocoa (Florida), the team the Prep beat in the first game of the season 16-7 beat Bergen Catholic yesterday 24-14.

  8. That was an ugly game for sure. The crowd was amazing! Prep is the real deal and LS needs to find a running game if they hope to beat them next time. Both teams fought to the end, both sets of coaches will be sick while watching these turnovers and mistakes. I’ve watched LS for years and have never seem so many personal foul penalties…. Not disciplined enough to win a game like that. I was wrong with my pick tonight however I did pick Pennridge last night so it wasn’t a total losing weekend. Congrats to the Prep, good win!

  9. Well-That SJP-LaSalle game was a disappointment. Hoping to see a quality game, but instead saw 14 turnovers. The only good thing was SJP winning. Knock LaSalle off their pedestal.

  10. @phillyboy

It just wasn’t in the cards that night when Pennridge met Bensalem. That game easily could have been 35-7 at half time in favor of Pennridge, by far the superior team. Three turnovers inside the red zone, a dropped pass in the end zone and two very bad calls from the officials one resulting in a touchdown called back. That probably was a good loss Pennridge, they found out you cannot take any team for granted no matter what their record is.

  11. Pennridge has a strong team this year. Depending on seeding they could make it to the district final. The loss to Bensalem concerns me though. How on earth did they lose that game? It’s hard to be a legitimate state contender when you lose to a team that might be 3-7 on the year.

  12. Pennridge 21-10. Solid game all around by Pennridge. Congrats to them. Put together a solid plan to keep Adams in check and made the plays when they needed to. South had their chances, but could never really convert including at the end of the half after a turnover when they had to settle for a FG, and after putting together a solid drive after a couple of back and forths in the 3rd, Pileggi was intercepted. Class is a stud, and the other RBs are solid. Should be a good matchup between them and North Penn. Great atmosphere at Poppy Yoder.

  13. Also not sure what Roman team you’ve been watching. They are way down this year. Just beat Ryan 14-7 in a snoozefest.
Roman has the skill, don’t have the line to execute like they had in the past few years. I am quite sure Cocoa Florida ran a very basic offense where they tried to run outside via toss or sweep 20 times/ game. They usually have fantastic athletes but not great schemes. Playing Cocoa helps big time in that SJP has played a fast team. Gonzaga is a big time team and they run a sophisticated offense and that will help Prep prepare for LS. Hoping the LS/ Prep game lives up to the hype, however both teams KNOW they will see each other in a few weeks…

  14. Pennridge/CB South will be a battle. Mike Class is a stud, but Pennridge has several other really good running backs, if they mix it up Pennridge has a shot. Poppy Yoder gets very loud, I believe home field advantage will play a major roll.

  15. Sorry I gave that impression of an easy win for LS. I like the way the Prep plays as a team. Never said easy, but I would not be surprised to see LS Defense have a big night, they are that good. Prep s O is efficient but the passing game is basic in the 2 games I saw. I also said this can be a 17-7 game just as easy. I agree that LS has to be able to run better to take pressure off Kane. This will be the first time since NPenn that LS has their regular O line together I believe. Should be a great game. I love they way Moffet (26) plays the game , tough to tackle– reminds me of Tim Wade from LaSalle.

  16. @jim
their qb isnt exactally slow i talking over all team speed Del Valley line is very big and phycial ,but Scranton has good size and their line is very quick,i only seem Del Valley on t.v but i seem Scranton live twice and believe me they are a fast overall team.Only team i seen all year that the secondary caught Valley View backs from behind, inculding Phillps before he got hurt .As they say we will know next week i think DEl Valley and Scranton will be a great great game

  17. @Jerry, how can you say LS should win easy. Prep haven’t given up a rushing touchdown since they been back playing in PA. Also Prep creates turnovers, if Prep can contain the pass they should win. Prep 28, LS 17. Coco, Roman & gonzaga had high power offenses. Coco struggled to get that rushing TD late in the fourth quater. LS running game is not that good.

  18. What speed does scranton have in their 1 receiver and 1 running back? Parkland has 3x that and more. scranton has not seen 5 receivers and 4 backs that a delaware valley team has this year. Del val d is as tough and game as they’ll see in D2/4/11

  19. Yes Jimbo i think that this is the year.Scranton and Del Valley are very blanced teams this year we are seeing more teams throwing the ball around here so the fast pace style that the LVC plays wount be as much of a suprise as it been in the past.Pluse both are very very phycial teams still have that old coal football hit them hard defences.I like Scranton becuse of their speed.

  20. @mark d, Joe actually stated what I meant to ask which was do you think D2 will finally beat an LVC team in the playoffs? I really don’t count the MVC.

  21. Prefictions for the weekend on 2 big games:

The Rams of Pennridge Beat CB South 35-28. I think a let down may be in store for South. Pennridge can pound the ball and can throw enough to score. I love the South Offense, not sure if they can keep Class & co out of the end zone.

Explorers of LS in a 28 — 14 win. I could see LS shutting out Prep but turnovers and special teams may key a Prep score or 2. Preps offense is decent however they seem limited in the routes they are throwing plus LS has a good secondary. LS needs to be able to run the ball, if not then this could be a 17-7 game just as easy. Either way it will be crazy at PW!

  22. @Mark D I certainly think that Del Val and Scranton will beat a D11 team in the playoffs. Will they beat an LVC team in the playoffs. Some of the D11 4A schools that will make the playoffs are terrible. Stroudsburg lost to one of the worst LVC teams earlier this year and they will be in the playoffs. There is no doubt that D2 is much better football played in the MVC. Del Val beat Parkland week 1, Parkland looks likes a different team. Unfortunately for the LVC at least one really good team will be left out of the playoffs because of the MVC. I think we will see Scranton, Easton, Parkland, and Del Val as the final 4 (If the seeding works out). Scranton and Del Val definetly have the capability to beat those 2 teams as Parkland and Easton can also do the same.
