  1. I see here “The Prep” is ranked 7th in the state and MacLeod has them ranked #1 in the state and 17th nationally…big difference.

  2. CB South got a well deserved win against North Penn.
CB South has another test ahead of them as they face Mike Class and the Pennridge Rams. Pennridge is playing hot and a win for them can change some things in the league. Should be another interesting week in the SOL Continental!

  3. paul from philly, PIAA needs to be objective and ensure as many leagues/games as possible are fair and balanced. Cycles occur in a particular class being loaded with talent…, but if a private/catholic keeps the recruiting machine going, it’s just not fair. We all want the best teams in the playoffs playing teams in similar settings.

  4. Jim B….Crestwood once again squeaked by another terrible team for the second weak in a row. First it was Tunkhannock and now Hazleton, one of the worst 4a teams in the state. Dallas is going to finish 7-3 and looking at Crestwoods schedule they should finish 7-3 too. That is why they are going to be discussed when playoffs come. I know you don’t think they are that good but they are still a talented team.

  5. CBSouth with a comeback for the ages tonite at North Penn. Down 23-7 at the half and looked like they had no answer for NP. NP missed two extra points. South had a couple big stops, and converted a 2 point conversion at 29-27 to tie it up. South holds with 4 minutes to go, and scores with about a minute to go to win 36-29. Adams with a 90 yd kick off return for a TD, but that’s it. John Pileggi carved up NP w 4 TD passes in the 2nd half. Great game-especially coming out on the positive side of it.

  6. @ paul from philly

Just a side point; you mention that no PCL team has their own stadium. I always wondered,’why on earth not’? You mean to tell me with all the money the archdiocese has had and all the moneyed alumni out there they couldn’t manage to at least build one communal site in the last 100 years or so?? That’s weak. This isn’t Lancaster or Reading where there’s one lone Catholic high school. There are still several, but there were a lot more in the past. They couldn’t justify building one doggone stadium in the second largest city on the east coast. I never understood that.

  7. Mark,
Right now Dallas doesn’t even belong in the playoff conversation. Lets see how they handle Pittston tomorrow.

  8. Mark,
Dallas has no chance. It’s crazy to think that just because Dallas has now won two straight games (after an 0-3 start), they are suddenly a playoff contender. They only managed to score 10 points against Coughlin, and they beat an 0-5 team. Again, not at all impressive.

Also, of those teams you mentioned, maybe they do have “easier” schedules on paper, but Crestwood has a two game lead on Dallas, so does Prep, Abington, Valley View, and Berwick. West Scranton and Coughlin both have a one game lead. Dallas would have to jump over four teams, two of which are currently 4-1. Sorry, but that’s just two many teams to jump over, even if they do win out.

  9. @Buddy and Kevin

No district boundaries is an argument for the PIAA. Right now the rules state it’s OK so give that one up until they change the rules. I just don’t get your money point. Upper Dublin just built a sports center and theatre that would rival colleges. CB South same thing. North Penn a huge redevelopment program costing millions. Name a PCL team with their own stadium, their own pools, their own weight rooms (LS and Prep have their own weight rooms but the rest?) Why are you so worked up about money. It’s not yours so you shouldn’t care how or why a parent sends their kids to a certain school. It’s like getting pissed off at Ryan Howard because of his contract. It’s not your money so why should you care. Take the chip off your shoulder, it’s weighing you down.

  10. @Jim B
Abington is the only AAA L.F.C team that does not have a AA team on it schedule,West Scranton actually has a A school on theirs. I havernt see dallas play so as their chances of winning the next 5 games i dont know ,but by the numbers of all the top AAA teams only Crestwood has an easier schedule Valley View games left teams are 16-9 same for Abington,Prep 18-7, coughlin 13-12,
Dallas 12-13 and Crestwood 7-18 .So if they can win out they very well might be in the mix and like i said i only looking at the numbers.Over all i think that the L.F.C is stronger this year than W.V.C

  11. @ paul:
Right. At the big boy schools, it is a year round sport . However, some schools have a lot more $ and also NO district boundaries.
Wheather you wanna believe it or not, that’s a big deal.

  12. Yo paulie from philly, read what I wrote vs what you hear in your mind. The proliferation of year round travel baseball teams, speed & agility schools, weight training gyms starting with kids around 10years old+ supplement a schools in/off season program. I do business with private/catholic schools and the names in the registers at the front desk are full of IVY/Patriot & top academic private school recruiters. My point is the smart parents who have money know their kids future is going to a good school for the education first vs. going to play a sport first. If they are good enough to play at the next level, they get their cake and eat it too!

  13. @Kevin

So no public school kids attend these camps? Please! Must be awful small camps Frankford’s QB comes to mind but that’s beside the point. At really good football programs such as La Salle, Prep, North Penn, Neshaminy, Easton there is no off season. Once the regular season is over, training and weightlifting starts year round at the school, not at camps. It’s more to do with the program. And anyone who knows about HS football knows that to be the case. Stop it with the privilege and background BS

  14. ********DISTRICT 4 UPSET’S????******
    MOUNT CARMEL UPSETS CENTRAL 28-24
    BLOOMSBURG BEATS MUNCY 35-31

  15. Dallas has no chance guys. They have seven teams ahead of them in the D2 AAA race. Plus three more teams with identical 2-3 records. That’s too many teams to jump.

Besides, what has Dallas actually done to give you guys the impression they can win their last five games? Their offense scored 10 points on Coughlin. Then, they beat a winless Willamsport team. To me, that’s not very impressive. You claim Crestwood squeaked past a few teams? Well, Dallas barely beat Coughlin. In fact, I saw the game, and Coughlin beat themselves. Coughlin had at least four turnovers, including a fumble on the Dallas 15 yard line, and an interception returned for a touchdown.

Look at the schedules. Berwick is 4-1 and a lock to make districts. So now look at Crestwood, they are also 4-1 (two game lead on Dallas) and they still have to play 1-4 Hazleton, 1-4 Pocono Mt West, and 0-5 Williamsport. It’s going to be very hard for Dallas to jump Crestwood, even if Dallas beats them head to head.

Then you have Coughlin, who still could go 7-3. And you have to take into account that IF Dallas beats Lehman, Lehman is only a AA school. Coughlin, Berwick, and all of the LCF schools don’t play any AA teams. I would say if Dallas and any of those schools finish with the same record, Dallas won’t have the won’t have enough points.

  16. RickD

Crestwood may be 4-1 but they’ve beaten crappy teams by slim margins. Lehman is alright but plays in weak conference and has absoluetely no passing game. Pittston has Houseman back but that still might not be enough and Hazleton and Tunkhannock are terrible. Dallas has talent (not coaching) to beat all the remaining teams left on their scheudle

If they get the sophomore WR back I don’t see anyone beating them. Not because Dallas is a great team, but because they have a soft scheule

  17. To paul from philly, kids with money go to specialized football camps, wt lifting gyms as well as Speed and agility schools… Year round for one. They also get advice from these coaches on learning the game at a higher level.

  18. You guys are killing me with all this Dallas talk! Beat Crestwood and LL by at least 2 TDs?? They have only scored more than 2 TDs in a single game themselves ONCE all season!! They have no running game at all, which is a joke because they have one of the better offensive lines in the area. Roccograndi had a big game against Williamsport last week but so would a Pee Wee TB! They have terrible play-calling on offense. Simonovich looks slow and tired. I would not be surprised if they lose to Pittston, Crestwood, Hazleton and LL!

Which one of you guys told me they would have a better team this year compared to the last 3 years? Maybe coaching does matter??
