Who recruited who…Devlin did not “recruit” these 3 players. They came to Wood on their own with the hope of greener pastures and a better football experience. Do you really think he sat in their living room like a scene from the “Blind Side” and made them promises.
That’s such BS……
As far as any of the other players, they all played in the Wood CYO feeder system. My son included.
Wood had a great team this year, they will have a great program for many more years because the program is top notch. Who would not want to play there if they could.
Jackie get your facts right about the kids….Thompson played for the cyo team in central bucks…the catholic high school is wood..nobly one arch went to prep and that was the oldest….there are 5 more sons…3 went to wood and the younger 2 are going also…….also their neighborhood hs….95 percent of these kids have been playing together since the 5 th grade.
Hey Joe, Very well said!
I’m a Lehigh Valley Conference, D11 and ACC supporter and will not judge how Archbishop Wood runs their program or how the team is formed etc. That’s for the PCL, D12 and the PIAA to address if necessary. I will say that ACC had an amazing group of kids the past three years that almost all exclusively came up through The Little Vikings Junior High program. One starter (R J Taylor) transferred to ACC from Bethlehem Catholic in his junior year. ACC has a policy that they will not accept anything that appears to be an athletic transfer in the senior year. And as was noted in an earlier post ACC has rejected several notable and significant transfer requests the past three years. I will say that Wood had an amazing team in 2011 as ACC did in 2010. In my opinion Wood and ACC were the best teams in Pennsylvania in 2011 and 2010 respectively in any classification.
@mike haha your not even getting it from ACC people, this how much people hate wood. Not because of winning or jealousy, but because of the way Devlin and wood people carry themselves. Some of the most ignorant coaches and fans I have ever seen.
Joey, They didnt except them as transfers because they dont allow kids to transfer in going into their senior year. Hentz, does the name Orial ring a bell? Why cant you guys just stop crying. You got beat this year! You won last year, it makes for good stuff.
@ Mike:
You’re wrong about a whole bunch of things. No sour grapes, just facts. Here’s the facts: Catholic schools can accept kids from anywhere. There are no district boundaries. Public schools MUST pull only from their district. Wrong…you can not transfer to another district merely by paying the equivalent tax. You have to reside in the district. CBW, back in the day, did not do that. What Pettine Sr. did is talk the school board into breaking the district boundary with CBE ONLY. So he got those kids to go to CBW. Just the one’s from CBE. This caused the CBE coach ( Green) to quit. What Wood does is intice kids to go there with the promise of college scholarships because of the high profile the team has. Pettine did the same to the CBE kids also. That has stopped by-the-way. I call that recruiting. How can you not?
