Week 10 notes:
RUSHING: Niko Petrone of ESS scored another 5 td’s and now has 23 for the season and 54 for his career.  His 23 td’s places him in 4th place all-time at the school just ahead of Dale Beck’s 21 td’s in 1975.  Petrone is second in the District with 1,777 yards and needs 34 yards to reach 4,000 for his career.  Petrone bumped Rob Owens from 4th place for yards in a single season at ESS.  Owens had 1,676 yards in 1988.  Corey Castillon of PME scored 4 td’s for the second week in a row and now has 19 for the season, tying him with former Cardinal Jeff Cemelli for 4th place all-time at the school.  Castillon also has 1,328 yards on the year which moves him into 6th place at PME.  District leader Ryan Heim of Pine Grove rushed for a school record 352 yards and 4 td’s in week 10.  Nick Frantz held the record when he rushed for 336 yards in 2002 against Upper Dauphin.  Heim also holds the school records with his District leading 29 td’s this year and his 43 for his career.  Brandon Emerich (2003-06) held the career record with 41 td’s.  Frantz and Cameron Conrad both had 40 td’s in their careers.  Schuylkill Haven’s junior William Casella also joins the “40 td” club with his 41 career td’s.  Nick Savant of Saucon Valley ran for a school record 333 yards and 5 td’s against Palisades.  Savant broke his previous record of 289 yards that he set earlier this year vs Catasauqua.  Savant went over 3,000 yards for his career and now has 3,115.  He moves ahead of Joe Baker who had 3,064 yards from 2000-03 and into 2nd place behind Joey Killar.  His 5 td’s in the game and 21 total td’s for the year both tie school records.  That will be the feature for “Past and Present” next week.  Phil Vass of Bangor rushed for 284 yards and all 3 td’s in a loss to Pen Argyl.  Vass ended the season with 1,471 yards and 15 td’s and finished his career with 3,155 yards and 37 td’s.  His career totals put him in second place in both categories behind Scott LaValva.  Vass would play in only 19 career games, 3 of them he left the game with an injury.  He was injured on his second carry vs Northwestern in his junior year after gaining 14 and 10 yards.  He would then hobble around the following week vs Pen Argyl.  Those are the only 2 games in his career he didn’t rush for over 100 yards.  Harry Hall of Northwestern ran for 226 yards last week to up his season total to 1,275 yards.  That’s good enough for 4th place at the school.  Hall went by former Tiger players Jon Suter, Ben Clymer, Joey House, Carl Wentz and Josh and Brett Snyder’s junior years.  Austyn Borre of Pleasant Valley who is just a sophomore broke the career rushing record at the school.  Borre now has 2,329 yards moving him by Marlon Pitts who had  2,321 yards from 2001 to 2003.   NOTE: Heim is 4th in the State with his 2,034 yards and his 29 td’s.

PASSING:  Doug Erney of Liberty threw for 338 yards last week vs Freedom.  He fell 9 yards short of the school record.  John Rabuck threw for 347 yards in a game in 1967.  Catasauqua’s Zack Bradley leads the District with 1,746 yards and 27 td passes.  Sophomore Ian McCole of Shenandoah Valley is second with 1,701 yards.  Shane Graspy of Blue Mountain threw for 312 yards in his last game of his career to finish with 1,438 yard for the season.  That’s moves him ahead of Tyler Hartranft who had 1,413 yards in 2010.  He’s the first Eagle to throw for over 300 yards in a game.  He finished his career with 2,948 career yards.  Travis Edmond of Southern Lehigh goes over 3,000 yards for his career and now has 3,136.  Edmond is in 3rd place all-time at Southern Lehigh with his 1,551 yards this year.  His 17 td passes ties him with Corey Sroka for second place.  Luke Hohenstein of PME who didn’t start at QB until the fourth game, has 1,181 yards passing and 13 td’s on the season.  His yardage puts him in 4th place and his 13 td’s puts him in a 2nd place tie with Evan Fardella at the school.  Nate Edmonds of Tamaqua is currently in 3rd place all-time at the school in career td passes.  Adam Knoblauch holds the record with 31 (1997-2000) and Ryan Palsgrove is second with 30 (2007-10).

RECEIVING: Pleasant Valley’s Kevin Cruz shattered the school record for reception yards in a game with his 211 yards vs Stroudsburg.  Jamie Irvine had 173 yards vs WVW in 2004.  Cruz caught 11 passes to tie Tony Bell’s 2012 school record.  PMW’s Jordan Hardy saved his best for last.  Entering his final game, Hardy had only 10 catches for 89 yards and no td catches.  Hardy caught 5 passes for 172 yards and 2 td’s to finish his career with 52 catches for 959 yards and 10 td’s.  The 172 yards breaks his own school record of 170 set last year and the 10 td’s breaks Mark McMaster’s school record of 9.  Matt Tuerk of Nazareth caught 8 passes for a school record 214 yards against Easton.  Andrew Bridgeforth held the previous record when he had 184 yards against Liberty in 2011.  Paryss Marshall now has 48 catches for 913 yards and 12 td’s on the season.  His 48 catches breaks Matt Andrews school record of 46 (1996) His 913 receiving yards leads the District.  RJ Sarajian of PM East caught another 7 catches to up his season total to 43 catches for 669 yards.  That places him in second place for both categories behind leader Lamont Tillery.  Tilley had 48 catches for 735 yards from 2008-10.  Jacob Del Priore of Southern Lehigh still leads the District active players with 52 receptions this season and a Colonial League record 132 career receptions.  Adam Thomas of Wilson held the old record with 129 catches from 2004-06.  Del Priore also went over 2,000 yards for his career and now has 2,090 yards.  NOTE: Marshall is 6th in the State with 913 receiving yards.

THE PAST AND THE PRESENT:  From 2004 to 2007 Adam Gretzinger of Palisades would rush for 1,743 yards and 22 td’s.  Adam would share the backfield with 2 other 2,000 yard career rushers during his career.  John Gruver (2,284 yards – 2005-08) and James Stanell (2,494 yards – 2006-09).  Now little brother Christian who’s just a junior just went past Adam for career rushing yards.  Christian now has 1,796 career rushing yards and 22 td’s.  Their stats are almost identical.  Adam (Christian) 310 (318), 1,743 (1,796), 22 (22).
