Wannstedt to headline Touchdown Club Banquet

The time and place for the 2009 Manheim Touchdown Club banquet is set. We are thrilled to announce that Dave Wannstedt Head Football Coach at the University of Pittsburgh will be the “Keynote Speaker” for the Evening.

Date & Time – Tuesday, May 12^th, 2009 – Reception at 5:30 PM with Dinner to follow at 7:00.

 

Pat Principe from WGAL will be the Master of Ceremonies.

 

We will honor the three finalists for the 2008 “Lancaster/Lebanon League High School Football Player of the Year” award as chosen by the Media.

 

James Capellio – Senior – Lebanon High School- 6’2” – 190 – QB

Kyle Fisher – Senior – Cocalico High School – 6’0” – 180 – RB/DB

Kyle Smith -– Senior – Lancaster Catholic High School – 6’3” – 210 – QB

 

The “College Player of the Year” award winners are chosen by the Lancaster/Lebanon Leagues Quarterback Club and will be honored during the evening.

 

Big School Division I & IAA

Jared Odrick – Lebanon High School -DL -Penn State University – 6’5”- 306

 

Small School Division II & III

Charlie Parker – Hempfield High School – RB – Lebanon Valley College – 5’10” – 195

 

The Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year Award

Sam Collins – Denton Texas – Center – Abilene Christian University – 6’0” – 275

The voting for this award is done by the 150 Sports Information Directors at the Division II level.

 

The Head Coaches from the 24 schools in the L/L League to be in attendance.

 

We will also use the evening to award scholarships to deserving Manheim Central Student Athletes.

 

We will also introduce the 70 players and the coaching staffs for this year’s Lancaster Lebanon League Tri-County All-Star Football Game during the banquet.

 

Coach Jason Shoff of Columbia High Scholl will coach the South All-Stars and Coach and Mike Miller of Annville Cleona will coach the North Squad. The game will be played Saturday, May 23, 2009; game time will be 7:00 PM at Elden Rettew field, Manheim Central High School. The proceeds from this game go to benefit the Manheim Touchdown Club’s Scholarship Endowment Trust Fund. Tickets for Adults are $5.00 and $3.00 for a student. Tickets will be available at the gate.

 

The cost of the banquet is $60.00 per person and is by reservations only.  Reservations can be made by calling Marc Phillips at 717-665-3940.
