Top Special Teams Performers (September 24-26): Schoffstall Sets School Record with 51-Yard Field Goal, Slavinski Goes 99 Yards

Lampeter-Strasburg’s Tyler Schoffstall made school history with his leg, while Dallas’ Trevor Slavinski nearly went the length of the field on a kickoff return to highlight this week’s top special teams performances across Pennsylvania.

Schoffstall connected on a school-record 51-yard field goal, breaking the previous Lampeter-Strasburg mark held by Matthew Wright. Schoffstall also made a 44-yard field goal and recorded six touchbacks.

Slavinski provided the week’s longest reported kickoff-return touchdown, taking one back 99 yards, while Ephrata’s Aaden Shuman delivered an 89-yard punt-return touchdown.

Schoffstall Sets Lampeter-Strasburg Record

Tyler Schoffstall put together a memorable special teams performance for Lampeter-Strasburg.

Schoffstall connected on a 51-yard field goal to establish a new school record for the longest field goal, breaking the previous record held by Matthew Wright.

He wasn’t finished.

Schoffstall also connected on a 44-yard field goal, giving him two successful field goals of 40 yards or longer in the same game.

His impact extended to kickoffs, where he recorded six touchbacks to tie for the highest reported total of the week.

Slavinski Goes 99 Yards to the House

Dallas’ Trevor Slavinski delivered the longest reported kickoff return for a touchdown, breaking loose for a 99-yard score.

York Catholic’s Michael Staub wasn’t far behind, returning a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown.

West Chester East’s Chase Golden went 92 yards to the end zone, giving the week three kickoff-return touchdowns of at least 90 yards.

Line Mountain’s Niam Braswell added an 84-yard touchdown return, while Hazleton Area’s Zach Wilson scored from 83 yards.

Solanco’s Wesley Bard returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown.

Northern Lebanon’s Brady Ryan, Nativity BVM’s Jacob Williams and Holy Cross’ Luca Berardi each scored on 75-yard kickoff returns.

Columbia’s Kareem Nicholas rounded out the group with a 72-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Shuman Breaks Loose for 89-Yard Punt Return

Ephrata’s Aaden Shuman produced the biggest punt-return touchdown of the week, taking one back 89 yards.

Wilson’s Jackson Becker added a 28-yard punt-return touchdown.

Souderton’s Ryan Walsh also found the end zone on a four-yard punt return.

Four Kickers Connect Twice

Schoffstall was one of four reported kickers to make multiple field goals.

In addition to his school-record 51-yarder, Schoffstall connected from 44 yards.

Shikellamy’s Ryan DePhilips made field goals from 30 and 34 yards.

Minersville’s Jordan Bowers connected from 22 and 26 yards, continuing a strong season after recently becoming Minersville’s career leader in field goals.

Ridley’s Tim Calamita also made two field goals, connecting from 29 and 13 yards.

Schoffstall Leads Long-Range Kicking

Schoffstall’s record-setting 51-yard field goal was the longest reported kick of the week. His 44-yarder was also the second-longest.

Berks Catholic’s Alex Reali and Manheim Township’s Rowan Crispeno each connected from 40 yards.

Warwick’s Evan Hartel made a 37-yard field goal, while Williamsport’s Brayden Ungard connected from 36.

Pottsville’s Andrew Allen, Downingtown West’s Keegan Charvet, Conestoga Valley’s Mason Andrews and Ridley’s Calamita each made 35-yard field goals.

Shikellamy’s DePhilips connected from 34 yards, Ephrata’s Chris Scheirer hit from 33 and Montgomery’s Dylan Sherman made a 31-yarder.

DePhilips also connected from 30 yards.

Fessler Converts Eight PATs

Schuylkill Haven’s Grayson Fessler led the reported PAT totals by converting eight extra points.

Fessler’s eight successful PATs capped another productive night for Schuylkill Haven’s scoring unit.

Talarico Averages 49 Yards Per Punt

Pittston Area’s Jordan Talarico led the reported punting averages with an impressive 49.0 yards per punt.

Talarico also boomed a 70-yard punt, the longest reported punt among the week’s leaders.

Stroudsburg’s Gabe Ferguson averaged 41.6 yards on five punts with a long of 47.

Shenandoah Valley’s Sam Mentusky averaged 41.0 yards, while Schuylkill Valley’s Alex Aletras averaged 36.0 yards on three punts.

Three Kickers Record Six Touchbacks

Mount Carmel Area’s Josh Miller, Shenandoah Valley’s Mentusky and Lampeter-Strasburg’s Schoffstall shared the lead with six touchbacks apiece.

Central York’s Brady Burt and Ridley’s Calamita each recorded five.

Pennridge’s Austin Keller, Upper Perkiomen’s Brody Lash and Dunmore’s Russell Toole each finished with three touchbacks.

Schoffstall’s Record Highlights Big Special Teams Week

From long returns to long-distance field goals, special teams once again provided game-changing plays across Pennsylvania.

Slavinski’s 99-yard kickoff return led a group that included three returns of at least 90 yards, while Shuman’s 89-yard punt return gave Ephrata a special teams touchdown.

Talarico averaged 49 yards per punt and produced a 70-yarder, while Miller, Mentusky and Schoffstall each recorded six touchbacks.

The milestone performance, however, belonged to Schoffstall. His 51-yard field goal established a new Lampeter-Strasburg school record, and he added a 44-yard field goal and six touchbacks to complete an outstanding special teams performance.
