Special teams delivered another week of explosive plays across Pennsylvania high school football, including a school record, two 96-yard kickoff returns, an 85-yard punt-return touchdown and several big field goals.
Northwestern Lehigh’s Grayson Smith highlighted the week by converting nine PATs to set a new school record.
Conwell-Egan’s Joel Joseph and York Vo-Tech’s Magnus Mitchell shared the longest reported kickoff return at 96 yards, while Susquehannock’s Nikolai Graham took a punt 85 yards for a touchdown.
Smith Sets Northwestern Lehigh School Record
Northwestern Lehigh’s Grayson Smith made school history with his performance in the kicking game.
Smith converted nine PATs, setting a new Northwestern Lehigh school record.
His nine successful extra points were also the highest reported total of the week.
Joseph and Mitchell Go 96 Yards
Two players shared the top spot among the week’s kickoff-return touchdowns.
Conwell-Egan’s Joel Joseph and York Vo-Tech’s Magnus Mitchell each returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown.
Minersville’s Jordan Bowers and Bishop McDevitt’s Kaedyn Walker weren’t far behind, with each breaking loose for a 90-yard touchdown return.
Unionville’s Ethan McCune went 87 yards to the house, while Carbondale’s Caedon Voglino scored on an 86-yard kickoff return.
Williamsport’s ZaMire Hopkins returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown.
Abington Heights’ Evan Keiper and Boiling Springs’ Jack George each scored from 84 yards, while Northwestern Lehigh’s Chase Sukanick went 83 yards.
Hazleton Area’s Wilmington Fabre added an 82-yard kickoff-return touchdown, Elizabethtown’s Elijah Carter went 80 yards and Schuylkill Valley’s William Johns scored from 79 yards.
Graham Breaks Loose for 85-Yard Punt Return
Susquehannock’s Nikolai Graham delivered the longest reported punt return of the week, taking one back 85 yards for a touchdown.
Parkland’s TJ Lawrence followed with a 65-yard punt-return touchdown.
Elizabethtown’s Beckett Shank scored on a 54-yard return, while Lakeland’s Chase Rosenkrans went 51 yards to the house.
Southern Lehigh’s Jack Pavis returned a punt 44 yards for a touchdown, Big Spring’s Ayden Martinez went 42 yards and Springfield-Delco’s Mike Neville scored on a 40-yard return.
Octorara’s Brayden Mastrippolito and Parkland’s Jackson Geroulo each added 39-yard punt returns for touchdowns.
Charvet Connects From 45 Yards
Downingtown West’s Keagan Charvet kicked the longest reported field goal of the week, connecting from 45 yards.
St. Joseph’s Prep’s Colton Stoner was right behind him with a 44-yard field goal, while North Pocono’s Shane Youngblood connected from 42 yards.
Susquehannock’s Ian Bailey made a 41-yarder, and Unionville’s McCune connected from 40 yards.
Williamsport’s Brayden Ungard hit from 39 yards, while Stoner added a 38-yard field goal.
Berks Catholic’s Alex Reali, West Perry’s Drew Brandt and North Pocono’s Youngblood each connected from 36 yards.
Wyoming Area’s Ava Musinski and Wilson’s Preston Oxenreider each made field goals from 35 yards.
Lackawanna Trail’s Joey Thomas connected from 34 yards, while Pequea Valley’s Joe Hagelin and Danville’s Liam Tomko each hit from 31.
Nazareth Area’s Owen Hall rounded out the group with a 30-yard field goal.
Three Kickers Connect Twice
Three players made multiple field goals.
St. Joseph’s Prep’s Colton Stoner connected from 38 and 44 yards.
North Pocono’s Shane Youngblood also had an impressive two-kick performance, making field goals from 42 and 36 yards.
Octorara’s Dalton O’Donnell converted field goals from 19 and 21 yards.
Stevenson Leads Punters
Warrior Run’s Logan Stevenson led all reported punters with a 46.3-yard average on three punts.
Stevenson’s performance wasn’t only about distance. He placed all three of his punts inside the 20-yard line, making him the week’s leader in that category as well.
Mifflinburg’s Brennen Snyder averaged 43.0 yards on three punts, while Twin Valley’s Maverik Foster averaged 41.0 yards on three attempts.
Cardinal O’Hara’s Bobby Bower averaged 38.5 yards on three punts with a long of 43.
Palisades’ Grayson Winsor averaged 36.0 yards on four punts with a long of 40, while West Catholic’s Romar Stephenson averaged 35.0 yards on three punts with a long of 44.
Four Kickers Record Five Touchbacks
Parkland’s Andrea Giroudon, Central York’s Brady Burt, Dallas’ Brandon Miller and Mount Carmel Area’s Josh Miller each recorded five touchbacks to lead the reported totals.
Schuylkill Valley’s Reece Wamsher finished with four.
Tri-Valley’s Nathan Hillard and Dunmore’s Russell Toole each recorded three touchbacks.
Big Returns Highlight Another Strong Week
From Smith’s record-setting night to a pair of 96-yard kickoff returns, special teams made an impact throughout the week.
Joseph and Mitchell nearly went the length of the field on kickoff returns, while Graham provided an 85-yard punt-return touchdown. Charvet led the field-goal performances with his 45-yarder, Stoner and Youngblood each connected twice, and Stevenson combined a 46.3-yard punting average with three punts inside the 20.
But the milestone performance belonged to Northwestern Lehigh’s Smith, whose nine successful PATs put his name in the school record book.
