It was another explosive week of high school football across Pennsylvania, with record-setting performances, huge rushing totals and plenty of trips to the end zone.
Southern Lehigh quarterback Colton Sams put his name in the school record book with 363 passing yards — all coming in the first half — while Garnet Valley quarterback Coltan Turner established a new program record with five touchdown passes.
Meanwhile, Mount Carmel Area and Schuylkill Haven combined for an incredible 1,058 yards of total offense in Mount Carmel Area’s 48-41 victory.
Records and Milestones
Mount Carmel Area and Schuylkill Haven produced an offensive shootout that will have a place in the Red Tornadoes’ record book.
The teams combined for 1,058 yards of total offense, setting a new record for a game involving Mount Carmel Area. The previous mark was 1,042 combined yards in Mount Carmel Area’s game against Lancaster Catholic in 2008.
Mount Carmel Area did its damage almost entirely on the ground, rushing for 503 yards despite not completing a pass in the 48-41 win.
Garnet Valley quarterback Coltan Turner also made history, setting the Jaguars’ single-game school record with five touchdown passes. Turner finished with 241 passing yards.
Southern Lehigh quarterback Colton Sams added another record-setting performance. Sams threw for a school-record 363 yards, with all of those yards coming in the first half. He also tossed four touchdown passes.
Archbishop Wood’s D’Andre Webb nearly reached the 300-yard mark on the ground, rushing for 295 yards. His performance ranks as the third-highest single-game rushing total in program history.
Quarterbacks Light Up the Scoreboard
Sams’ 363 yards led all reported passing performances, but he had plenty of company among quarterbacks putting up big numbers.
Notre Dame-Green Pond’s Tommy Murphy passed for 321 yards, while Simon Gratz’s King Salley finished with 315.
Bethlehem Catholic’s Axel Burkhart and Northwestern Lehigh’s Trey Snyder each threw for 279 yards. Holy Redeemer’s Brady McDermott was right behind them with 277 yards, followed by Jersey Shore’s Nolen Pauling with 266.
Hamburg’s Isaac McFadden threw for 256 yards, Marian Catholic’s Gregg Tirpak had 255 and Wyoming Valley West’s Damien Eastman finished with 251.
Turner’s record-setting night included 241 yards through the air, followed by Mechanicsburg’s Luke Reider with 239, Bishop McDevitt’s Sebastian Williams with 236, Chambersburg’s Cam Green with 233, Central York’s Jamen Ilgenfritz with 226 and Stroudsburg’s Jack Mitchell with 224.
Berwick Area’s Brady Cleaver and Oxford Area’s Nolan Neskie each threw for 220 yards.
Five Touchdown Passes Lead the Way
Four quarterbacks threw five touchdown passes.
McDermott, Turner, Salley and Williams each reached the five-touchdown mark.
Seven more quarterbacks threw four touchdown passes: Conwell-Egan’s Aubrey Kimbrough, Shikellamy’s Bobby Felmy, Pocono Mountain East’s Ceejay Serfass, Sams, McFadden, Pauling and East Pennsboro’s Tavery Good.
Pennridge’s Aiden Tetkowski, Wyomissing Area’s Brady Eisenhower, Schuylkill Haven’s Bradyn Diehl, Conestoga Valley’s Camryn Bair, Eastman, Tirpak, Roman Catholic’s Jahmil Hawkins, Central Bucks West’s Josh George, Big Spring’s Nathan Baranoski, Neskie, Bangor’s Lincoln Rehrig, South Western’s Seth Sullivan, Murphy and Snyder each threw three touchdown passes.
Reber Tops 300 Yards Rushing
While quarterbacks were putting up huge numbers through the air, Schuylkill Haven’s Colton Reber led an equally impressive group of running backs.
Reber rushed for a week-high 312 yards and scored three touchdowns.
Webb followed with his 295-yard performance for Archbishop Wood, while Mount Carmel Area’s Jaylen Delaney rushed for 276 yards and four touchdowns.
Crestwood’s Jake Jeckell finished with 254 yards and West Philadelphia’s Jahsir Newsome rushed for 251, giving the week five reported runners with at least 250 yards.
Solanco’s Wesley Bard rushed for 221 yards, while La Salle College’s Ahzir Nelson and Honesdale’s Gabe Duda each had 218.
Williamsport’s Tevin Williams rushed for 213 yards, William Tennent’s Gavin Mensch had 211, Northampton’s Chase Kessler finished with 210 and Conrad Weiser’s Kole Kupper had 202.
Abington Heights’ Jayden Anglin (190), Chester’s Sa’Mhad Williams (187), Towanda’s Jazik Brown (182), New Hope-Solebury’s Jon Scrima (180), Daniel Boone’s Mason Ruffner (180), Loyalsock’s Ivan Baker (170), West Perry’s Mason Sprecher (157), Ridley’s Jamor Savoy (155), Hazleton Area’s Xavier Heck (152), Williams Valley’s Fletcher Thompson (151), Garnet Valley’s Luke Bernard (151) and Hanover Area’s Dewayne Downey (150) rounded out the 150-yard rushing club.
Holmes Finds the End Zone Five Times
North Schuylkill’s Brock Holmes led all reported rushing touchdown performances by reaching the end zone five times.
Cedar Crest’s Isaiah Zimmerman, Mount Carmel Area’s Delaney, Conrad Weiser’s Kupper and Daniel Boone’s Ruffner each rushed for four touchdowns.
Among the three-touchdown performers were East Stroudsburg South’s Ayden Walker, Great Valley’s Beau Kosmalski, Riverside’s Brayden Rose, Carbondale’s Caedon Voglino, South Williamsport’s Cade Lusk, Reber, Panther Valley’s Cy Maynard, Webb, Montoursville’s Elijah Eck, Towanda’s Gage Evans, Mensch, Newsome, Savoy, Shamokin’s Logan Steele, Bard and Central Dauphin’s Xaivion Allen.
Vassa Breaks the 200-Yard Receiving Mark
Bethlehem Catholic’s Carter Vassa was the week’s top reported receiver, catching eight passes for 202 yards.
Chambersburg’s Jashaun Palmer finished with 175 yards, while Lewisburg’s Jaylen Walker had 171.
East Pennsboro’s Nasiere Ingram caught nine passes for 165 yards. Northwestern Lehigh’s Brady Zimmerman finished with eight catches for 153 yards, while Jersey Shore’s Carter Rhinehart and Valley View’s Cash Roe each had 152 receiving yards.
Marian Catholic’s Rocco Griguoli had 147 yards, Holy Redeemer’s Josh Grochowski and Muncy’s Nate Rogers each finished with 141, and Easton Area’s Sean McPeek had 138.
West York’s Janziel Torres and Simon Gratz’s Nehemiah Coston each had 132 yards, followed by Camp Hill’s Owen Grove with 128.
Central York’s DeMarcus Murray, Garnet Valley’s Ethan Vaughn and Pennridge’s Nate Derstine each had 127 yards.
Hamburg’s Elijah Metzler finished with 125, Oxford Area’s Jake Patterson had 124 and Owen J. Roberts’ Matt Gregory posted 119.
Southern Lehigh’s Jack Pavis and Dunmore’s Weston Yannone each had 118 yards. Newport’s Johnny Mayersky finished with 115, while East Stroudsburg South’s Lyric Parkins and Penn Wood’s Sheldon Hanible each had 112.
Wyoming Valley West’s Gadgidas Reisinger (111), Wilkes-Barre’s Deacon Eisenbach (106), Whitehall’s Henry Shultz (105), West Scranton’s Kazual Colbert (105), Marian Catholic’s Tyler Price (105), Notre Dame-Green Pond’s Jonathan Striba (103), Mechanicsburg’s Ryan Foose (102) and Southern Lehigh’s Otto Young (100) also reached triple figures.
Rhinehart and Patterson led the receiving touchdown category with three scores apiece.
Rosenkrans Leads All Receivers
Lakeland’s Chase Rosenkrans led the week’s reported reception totals with 10 catches.
Northwestern Lehigh’s Michael Lagowy and East Pennsboro’s Ingram each caught nine passes.
Red Land’s Anthony Plever, Northwestern Lehigh’s Zimmerman, Scranton Prep’s Braedon McPartland, Bethlehem Catholic’s Vassa, Camp Hill’s Grove and Easton Area’s McPeek each caught eight.
Lewisburg’s Walker, Newport’s Johnny Mayeresky, Owen J. Roberts’ Gregory and Muncy’s Rogers each recorded seven receptions.
Mount Carmel Area, Solanco Dominate on the Ground
Only two teams surpassed 400 rushing yards.
Mount Carmel Area led the way with its massive 503-yard rushing performance in the 48-41 victory over Schuylkill Haven.
Solanco wasn’t far behind, piling up 480 yards on the ground.
Five-Touchdown Club
Seven players accounted for at least five total touchdowns.

Offensive Linemen Pile Up the Pancakes
North Schuylkill’s Will Wysoski led the pancake-block category with eight.
Shenandoah Valley’s Aiden Longo and North Schuylkill’s Nelson Berger each recorded seven pancake blocks, while Shenandoah Valley’s Brayan Chagolla had five.
Upper Dauphin’s Eoghan Savage finished with four.
Tamaqua Area’s Camden Walker, Cedar Crest’s Griffin Schomp, Octorara Area’s Micah Kurtz, Conrad Weiser’s Ryan Kase and Chester’s Solomon Dodson each recorded three.
From school records through the air to more than 1,000 combined yards in the Mount Carmel Area-Schuylkill Haven shootout, Pennsylvania’s offenses produced plenty of fireworks. Sams, Turner, Reber, Webb, Delaney, Vassa and many others turned in performances that stood out during a week filled with impressive numbers.
