The fourth week of the 2009 season was filled with interleague showdowns that may have well determined who finishes on top in regular season play. This weeks schedule calms things down and allows the top teams to get back to basics and show that there will be no let downs during this long trip to the playoffs

Last week the predictions went 3-2 which is the worst performance of this year. Abington, Ridley and Interboro all won as predicted. However Penncrest lost by an extra point to Central League rival Garnet Valley and LaSalle lost a hard fought contest to St Joe Prep in Philadelphia Catholic League action.

The last three years this future teller has a 117-43 prognostication record and with a 2009 first four week record at 15-5 it is hoped we can keep up the pace the rest of this season.

The schedule makers seem to have had mercy on the top teams when week five was being planned. However these can be dangerous games if a team takes an opponent too lightly. Many a championship has been lost to a strange upset by a less talented squad. This occurs every year and this could be the week of surprises.

In a Suburban One Continental Conference game powerful and undefeated North Penn should have little problem with winless Central Bucks East. The Knights are ranked number one in Ed Thomas’ SE Pa top ten http://www.havenfootball.net/Ed%20Thomas%20Wk%205.html

Running back Craig Needhammer has been a work horse for North Penn’s consistent offense in the first four games. The knights won’t let this game get away.

Prediction:    North Penn  38  Central Bucks East  7

Moving on to Friday’s Suburban National League showdown between number two ranked and undefeated Pennsbury hosting Council Rock North (3-1), Indians QB Tyler Hamilton can be dangerous but the Pennsbury Falcons can grind it out with the best of defensive teams. Running back Joe Brown will be the go to guy in this game and ball control will determine the victor.

Prediction:    Pennsbury  24  Council Rock North  13

The rest of the fearless forecast:

 Prediction:    Cardinal O’Hara  27  Chester  13

Prediction:    Strath Haven  49  Lower Merion  7

Prediction:    Penncrest  35  Upper Darby  14
