Steel High runs over Middletown 40-14

The opening kickoff pinned Steelton Highspire on the two yard line.  The Middletown Blue Raiders got their first chance with the ball when SR Jaime Reitzi intercepted a pass by SR quarterback Andre Campbell.  The interception gave the ball to Middletown on the Steel High 20 yard line.  The Blue Raiders scored on a 3 yard TD run by SO Rodney Ramsey giving Middletown a 7-0 lead.  When Steel High got the ball they unleashed their running attack led by SR Jeremiah Young.  Young got the running game going taking the ball from the Steel High 23 all the way to the Middletown 14.  Middletown managed to get a sack for a loss of nine yards setting up a 3rd and 17 for Steel High.  On the next play Steel High SR Justin Williams scored on a TD pass from Campbell making the score even at 7 apiece.  Middletown started its next drive on the 18 and drove the ball into Steel High territory.  A catch by Middletown SR Kory Seiders set up a FG attempt which missed from 30+ yards.  At the end of the first quarter of play the score was 7-7. 

On Steel Highʼs next drive they converted a 4th and three when SR Jordan Smith took the ball and ran for the fist down.  Steel High eventually scored on a first down 12 yard TD run by Young giving Steel High a 14-7 lead.  On Middletownʼs next drive they had the ball at the 40 but suffered a loss on a combined sack by SR Dushawn Beecher and JR Jordan Perry Setting up a 2nd and 16.  Middletown SR quarterback Aaron Lupia connected with SR Trey McElwee for a first down on a big 3rd down conversion but were unable to muster anymore offense and had to punt.  Steel High got another big run from Young on its next opportunity with the ball.  Young took the ball from Steel Highʼs 25 to the 33 of Middletown.  Campbell converted another big 3rd down when he found Jordan Smith for the first down.  Campbell then scored on a 19-yard TD run making the score Steel High 21-7 over Middletown.  Middletown got a break on its next drive when Jordan Smith was called for a personal foul giving Middletown a first down in Steel High territory.  With 20 seconds left in the half Middletown turned the ball over on downs to Steel High.  Jeremiah then proceeded to run the ball for a 60 yard TD run.  The extra point was no good making the half time score 27-7 in favor of Steel High. 

On the Kickoff SR Marcus Hile ran the ball out to the 36 giving Middletown decent field position.  On 3rd and 7 Middletown got a big first down on a nice catch by McElwee.  But the drive was brought to an end on an interception by JR Jeff Davis.  On Steel Highʼs next possession they converted a 4th and 7 for a touch down when Campbell found Jordan Smith in the back of the endzone for the score making the score 34-7. 

Middletown scored on its next possession when SR Nate long found the endzone on a TD run making the score 34-14.  Steel High scored again when they got the ball back and Campbell ran the ball 53 yards for the score.  The extra point was blocked making the score 40-14. 

Campbell got the ball back for the Rollers when he picked off a Aaron Lupia pass at the 22 yardline.  The Rollers ended up punting the ball back to the Raiders.  The Raiders gave the ball back to the Rollers on downs.  Rollers started to run the clock out but gave the ball back to the Raiders on downs.  Raiders had the ball within scoring range but failed to do so and the game ended with a Steel High 40-14 victory.  Jeremiah Young ended the game with 278 yards rushing.

    I thought Middletown would bring more to the table on Friday night. You guys CANNOT miss Steel-High/Trinity in two weeks.
