Philadelphia Catholic League Players of the Week (Week of September 7th, 2025)

Offensive Player of the Week:

-Saalem Frink (Bonner-Pren. – RB – Sr.):

The bruising Friars’ rusher found the end zone five times in his team’s, 35-7, victory over Wood. He finished with 138 yards on 16 carries.

Offensive Honor Roll:

Gavin Sidwar (LaSalle – QB – Sr.)- 16/21/234/2 TDs.

-Amahi Gowans (O’Hara – RB – Sr.)- 16 rushes, 147 yards, and a TD.

-Mahki Mitchell (Neum.-Gor. – RB – Sr.)- 10-for-13, 179 yards, and 2TDs.

Defensive Player of the Week:

-Braeden Smith (Lansdale Cath.  – LB – Sr.):

The steady Smith made multiple big plays in helping the Crusaders’ secure a hard-fought, 21-17, triumph over Hatboro-Horsham. Early on he intercepted a pass and returned it 31 yards for a score. Later, he ripped a ball from a ballcarrier and recovered a fumble. In-between he hustled for 12 tackles (1 TFL).

Defensive Honor Roll:

-Cooper Heilig (LaSalle – LB – Sr.)- 11 total tackles (7 solos); including a sack.

-Sabir Dawson (Roman – DB – Soph.)- 36-yard INT return for score; 9 stops.

-Walter Hudson (Roman – LB – Jr.)- Nine total tackles, TFL, and pass defend.

-CJ Amobi (Bonner-Pren. – DE – Sr.)- Six tackles; including 2.5 sacks and TFL.

-Issac Day (O’Hara – LB – Jr.)- Ten total tackles with (2) TFLs.

Special Teams Player of the Week:

Gavin Muller (O’Hara – K/P – Sr.)

Muller ensured the Lions with a win by belting a 27-yard field goal in the 2nd half in the Lions, 17-14, win over Ryan.  He converted two point-after tries, slammed a pair of touchbacks, and his only punt covered 41 yards.

Multi-Purpose Player of the Week:

-Ty Morris (Bonner-Pren. – WR/DB/KR – Jr.)

The well-rounded Morris made six catches for 59 yards to pace the Friars’ passing game. Defensively, he notched a pair of tackles and made an interception. He added a 15-yard average of three punt returns and secured one fair catch.

 

Spectacular in Defeat:

-Tyty Mattison (Arch. Carroll – WR – Jr.)

Mattison accounted for both Patriots’ touchdowns on a pair of receptions. One covered 89 yards. All totaled, he accumulated 138 receiving yards on 7 catches.
