Philadelphia Catholic League Players of the Week Week 2 – Sept. 11, 2019

Offensive Player of the Week

Cole Lowe – Arch. Ryan – QB – Senior

The Raiders’ senior signal-caller broke the school record for passing (Rus Slawter ’06 309 yards) with 315 yards on 23-for-33 passing. Ryan overcame a 22-7 halftime deficit, as well as a 29-13 deficit during the third quarter. Lowe threw for 231 yards and three of his four touchdowns in the second half. Helping Ryan capture their first win of the season, 39-29. His scoring tosses covered 21, 20, 7, and 34 yards, respectively.

Defensive Player of the Week

Julio DaSilva – West Cath. – DB – Senior

DaSilva scored two defensive touchdowns to help the Burrs upend Hudson Catholic this past weekend. First, he chased down the Hawks’ punter, stripped the ball, and recovered the fumble in the back of the end zone to start the game’s scoring. Later, with the Burrs clinging to a tenuous 5-point lead and just 3:59 left, he intercepted a pass and returned it 33 yards for a game-clinching touchdown.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Andrew McHugh – Arch. Wood – PR – Sophomore

With the Vikings’ offense struggling midway thru the second quarter McHugh scooped up a punt and dashed 65 yards for a touchdown. The play ignited the Vikings as they went on to a convincing, 35-0, triumph.
